The Labor Party is doing everything in their power to cloud the motivation of their Emissions Trading tax with proclamations of imminent doom and destruction.

The latest scare campaign by Labor follows the release of the results of a joint Parliamentary Inquiry into Climate Change and environmental impacts on coastal communities including its findings relating to projected sea level rises.

So disturbed by this news and no doubt sensing an opportunity to contribute to the latest Labor Party ‘dial a comment for the day’, Labor backbenchers, including Jim Turnour, Graham Perrett & Mark Dreyfus have been on parade with fear and loathing lines at the ready in an attempt to convince us all that this is the reason Australians should vote for their massive tax- ETS prior to Copenhagen.

It is not unusual that these emotive statements are babbled out by the Labor Party.
Will this make the sea level go down? Maybe we should call it the King Canute tax, the Viking King of England, Denmark and Norway who believed that he could turn the tide.

The clanger of all time is Peter Garrett’s comments that the sea will rise 6m by the end of the century. Six thousand millimetres divided by 91years means approximately 66mm per year. Unfortunately Griffith University talks about approximately 9mm a year which leaves us with a Labor fudge factor of about 730%. What’s that between Labor mates?

In due course sea levels will rise and sea levels will fall and people will have to move when sea levels rise and move back after sea levels fall. For the life me I cannot fathom how a new tax is going to change the level of the ocean or assist me in the cost of dealing with the problem.

Minister Wong, during question time today talks about the potential flooding of Kakadu so I am thinking of rushing off to Uluru and start building an ark just in case, mind you, to be honest, if there is someone wanting a quick sale on a harbour side house I’m prepared to take the risk.

Barnaby,
Please refer the article attached from yesterdays Australian. This should be brought into the public arena in the interest of the nation. As Janet says, the press are leaving it alone.

Hope you can do something with it

Mr Joyce
I am disappointed that you seemed dismissive about the effect of climate change on sea levels, Tony Abbott is right when he says that rising sea levels will not affect his seaside electorate much but the boatloads of Bangladesh refugees might. This country’s biggest concern is the change in rainfall patterns and according to the Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research the 1996-2009 drought in south-east Australia can be attributed to climate change, not natural variability. I’m assuming you are aware of the dire trouble we are in
I believe you are right in saying that using good farmland for revegetation as a carbon sink is non-productive whereas trees in a city will have a cooling effect and reduce the need for air conditioners. Dr Greg Moore from the University of Melbourne estimates that 100,000 trees could save a city 3 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Plant the trees where they will do the most good.
Is there any research on the use of biochar? This is an effective method of carbon capture and a good fertiliser, is there a government policy to promote this?

B.Wilson

DEAR SEN.BARNABY, COULD SOMEONE ON YOUR STAFF LOOK UP THE "A.B.A.R.E.", RESEARCH IN RELATION TO SEA-LEVELS, THEN EMAIL ME WITH SAME. I SEEM TO RECALL THEY HAD DATA THAT WAS EXTENSIVELY RESEARCHED, SHOWING ONLY HALF THE SEA-RISE LEVELS THAT ARE BANDIED ABOUT AT PRESENT. IS THE COMMUNITY BEING "BRAINWASHED" WITH THIS CONSTANTLY DIFFERENTIATING DATA.
2ND,IS IT TRUE THAT WE ARE MERELY ON A "CYCLICAL" TRACK, THE ONE WHERE HISTORY DICTATES AN INEVITABLE RECURRANCE?......THANKYOU AND GOD BLESS. ..........JEANIE

Jeanie, here is a link to a document with up-to-date data on sea-level change. Also includes some detail on research by Prof Richard Lindzen atmospheric physicist at MIT. Prof Lindzen's research (based on real data not computer models) proves that the basis to the CO2 driven global warming hypothesis is wrong - this whole fiasco is now shown to be a fraud. When people start to realize they have been conned there will be a lot of explaining to do from the so called experts.

Stick to your beliefs Barnaby..the Libs are turning into pussyies on this.
The more facts people get to hear (as the previous 2 people state) the better. The public are only hearing the govn push on this.
More people are now asking questions and researching themselves ..they no longer believe what the Labor party is coughing up.
Id really like to hear what the alternate resullts of forcing people off the land would be i.e.producing the food that we all take for granted.
Cutting more beef from out diet certainly doesnt appeal to most of us either...and that will happen supplywise or costwise.!!
This week we had an example of semi dried tomatoes ,imported contaminated with Hep A....just the tip of the iceberg.
Keep up the great work.

Thank you Barnaby for your outspokenness on this critical issue.
If Australia signs up to this deceptive climate deal we will sign away our sovereignty forever.
The draft deal for Copenhagen is now available on various web sites and should be tabled in the Senate so all can see this "communist like" deal for what it is.

Since it has been proven that sea levels have not risen in 30 years by the most eminent sea level scientist we need a voice in the senate to oppose this stupid coastal land restrictions proposal which has a detrimental effect on property values.

Thank you and keep up the good fight against this coup on our soverighty

You have my vote

Keep up the effort Barnaby. I guess you've spoken to Steve Fielding and the scientists advising him.... Maybe there are enough Liberal and Labour senators able to see through the AGW smokescreen for the Senate to make a difference actually.
The link below is one example of the way this charade is being played for all it's worth by those who see $$$.. Or I guess by those who have been misled and needlessly alarmed by the nonsense and scare mongering of Al Gore and Co.
http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fpcomment/archive/2009/10/20/maldives-president-all-wet-on-sea-level.aspx

Of course if all this warming came to pass there would be winners too - longer growing seasons, more rainfall - a warmer wetter Earth with more life, but that's not mentioned - developed countries can't afford to for fear of being demonised even futher, and those with their hands out won't mention it.

Hello Senator Barnaby
Glad to see one senator inthe house with some brains , but the facts are we
had GOUGH WHITLAM who stole our pensions in the 70`s , BOB HAWKE
sold our bank and PAUL KEATING sold off every thing else and than turned us in to a banana republic.
Now we have got MR RUDD who we couldn`t get off channel 7 because the sun rose out of his bum , now you can`t even get in to the country
for 5 minutes. We know the profit from this will never reach the environment
as they have been doing this tax in ENGLAND for years now and most of it goes to the black hole that LABOUR have created in there countries deficite
so i can see the same mistakes happening here as what has happened in EUROPE. Iam an English man who has lived here since a young teenager.
I must love this great country more than any LABOUR MINISTER because i could never do what they are about to do to this great country that we all call home.

Can anyone tell me who dreamt up this emmisions trading scheme?? Whoever he/she was was brilliant!
"How to make millions out of hot air in one easy lesson!!" Provided you happen to be on the right gravy traint hat is. That doesn't seem to be me.....but then I'm not a mate of Al Gore or his ilk!!
Roger and Kevin.........how right you are!!!
Shannon........when we no longer have farmers, we will hope we can grow our own in backyards or pots or we will have to take food from countries which don't have the checks and balances we have with regard to hygeine etc. in the making/packaging of foodstuffs. The possible outcome of that does not bear thinking about.
Whenever I get the opportunity I have been putting some simple questions to people I meet
(1) Have you done your own research into what is really causing global warming?
(2) Have you added up what our rapidly expanding population (helped along by all these so-called refugees) is costing the country in water, food and welfare needs?
(3) Do you take note of how overregulated we are becoming? ('Brave New World')
Sadly most want to push their heads further into the sand but every so often one person will look at me in astonishment and say "No, but maybe I should."
Then I meet the ones I really like who say "Yes, and did you know...........".
Yes Barnaby there are some people besides you and me out there who don't want to be led by the nose!
Cheers..............Kathleen

to B Wilson,
unfortunately it is you thay is dismissive. The variation in rainfall patterns can be associated with climate change but this climate change is natural. There is not any antropogenic climate change it is all natural that is the confucing part of the whole arguement, it is a Hoax that man has affected the climate, he affects the enviroment but not the climate.
The Copenhagen Agreement is a farce to intorduce wealth distribution and a world government, please look up Lord Moncket on google and his comments on the ETS.

Mr Barnaby, keep up the good work and I will ensure everyone I know will know about you and Vote National where ever possible.

Hi Barnaby

I write to you as a person who has counselled many people out of destructive cults. I have been educated in Mind Control & Manipulation, and also Social Psychology & Group Dynamics.

I think The Global Greens are a dangerous doomsday cult. I believe the Emissions Trading Scheme has been designed to destroy the Western economies, so that a Global Communist Government can be brought in. This new government will be run by the leaders of TNCs (transnational corporations) which have had an iron grip on the Western economies for many years. We must bear in mind that Malcolm Turnbull is a Merchant Banker!

For those who are not aware, the Australian Greens have policies on their website on Global Governance and Population.

To my knowledge, both Labor and Liberals have been working towards global governance since the time of Gough Whitlam, but I think we have seen a major "umbilical cord" develop between Greens and Labor in recent times.

John Howard brought in 70,000 migrants per year, and now Rudd is ramping it up to 250,000. Due to the weakening of border protection, many thousands more illegal immigrants can be expected to arrive in the coming months.

This, of course, is also in keeping with The Greens' policy on Population. I think their aim is to redistribute world populations, before carrying out a massive culling.

In the 2008/2009 financial year, 158,021 people were brought into the country. Nearly 70,000 came here from various parts of Asia. It is my view that people from third world nations are being used to drive wages down and send working and living conditions backwards.

We now have 100,000 people living on the streets in Queensland alone. In the May budget, unemployment benefits and Widow Allowance were not subject to an increase!

At the local aged care centre (owned by a major TNC), nurses have been banned from discussing what each nurse earns. The lion's share of the nurses are Asian.

The Greens have a number of policies which support Population Control. These include the legalisation of abortion, homosexuality and euthanasia.

I have seen the CEO of the CSIRO and another environmental scientist do the National Press Club address in recent times.

First we are told that we can easily feed 60 million people using super seed and new farming techniques. Next we are told that the government plans to export most of the food, no doubt leaving us with only the very expensive crumbs (apply law of Supply and Demand here).

This would seem to concur with the plan regarding Natural Gas and the Gorgon Project. The last I heard was that Rudd wants to flog 95% of the natural gas to China for 6 cents a litre, while the people of WA get to pay $1.70 per litre for the dregs.

While Christine Milne from The Greens was up in arms about this, I think we were being dealt a deliberate furphy, just part of the ducking and weaving that the government does to confuse the people.

We are told that country people will need to be moved into the cities due to drought, and that seaside dwellers will need to do the same due to rising sea levels (Climate Change).

At the same time, Rudd wants to increase population from 21 to 35 million people.

Sandra Kanck from Sustainable Population Australia wants to reduce population by 2/3, down to 7 million. She also wants to bring in a One Child policy, when we have an Age Pyramid that is just about falling over from lack of a sufficient base (younger people and babies)! To my knowledge this group is an affiliate of The Greens. They sound like Chinese Communists to me.

On 12 November 2009 a movie will be screened to further scare the Australian people into accepting a Carbon Tax. The name of it is: "2012".

Yes, that's right. If you don't behave yourself and take the next step towards complete Global Governance, the Climate God will tear the planet apart with natural disasters such as earthquakes.

All of this is only 3 years away. Tee hee. Who do they think they're kidding???

You might like to take a look at the lyrics of a song written by John Lennon (The Beatles) in 1971, and see how these might concur with the Global Agenda and concerns expressed on Barnaby's Blog about the proposed removal of school chaplains - also the removal of religious crosses from hospital chapels and schools.

Please also note that in San Francisco, there are moves afoot to downsize flat screen TVs "because they use too much power" and how that might concur with the line "imagine no possessions".

Yesterday I received in the mail the Queensland government's assessment of my power usage. I'm even being told how many loads of clothing I can wash each week. NB that if I saved the amount of money they suggest, I wouldn't even have a power bill! Does that seem a likelihood to you???

http://www.lyricskeeper.com/the_beatles-lyrics/99812-imagine-lyrics.htm

I could say so much more. Please feel free to disseminate this information as widely as possible.

We are told that 10,000 people will be needed to work on the Gorgon Project. Consequently a virtual "beehive" of accommodation is currently under construction on Barrow Island.

I thought I heard a couple of months ago that Julia Gillard had an interest in reducing wages of people working on oil rigs under her proposed Industrial Relations Streamlining. No doubt this will also be applied to natural gas workers.

In the last financial year, the Rudd government imported enough Asian people to staff 7 Gorgon Projects. Since most of the natural gas will be shipped directly to China, Chinese workers will probably get the (possibly poorly paid) work.

This isn't the first instance of China sending people here so Australia can pay Chinese workers to virtually STEAL our resources, while putting our own people out of work.

Don't be surprised if the same happens with agriculture and the exportation of most of the food. I heard that the National Farmers' Federation is being destroyed from the inside out. Further evidence of this came from the ABC program: "Landline" some months ago.

Senator Barnaby Joyce:

Keep up the pressure on the AGW proponents, there are thousands of us relying on good men like yourself to expose this UN 'Life Tax' agenda for what it is, a Life Tax.

It is now clear that, if the socialistic Rudds and Obamas get there way, that we will soon be living under a neo socialist UN world government who will control every aspect of our lives. Freedom and liberty are almost dead, soon our very right to lead an affluent life will be taken from us through regulation and taxation.

The drought Copenhagen agreement makes it very clear what the motivations behind the AGW myth pushers are: a massive redistribution of wealth from the First to the Third World, combined with the Agenda 21 inspired road map too 'sustainability', we are on the edge of the precipice.

Co2 is the gas of life. 'Sustainability' = Poverty.

Senator Barnaby Joyce, please continue down the path of life and decency. Keep pushing for the truth. Expose these people for what they are. Communisn was never, and never will be the answer.

Our great democracy is in danger from an unelected and unaccountable UN.

We are counting on you.

Everyone breathes out CO2, so this ets will also be at tax on breathing, which has been every politician's dream. Al Gore is saying that we should all become vegetarians, everyone except him I suppose. He stands to make huge amounts of money from an ETS.

Oh well, I guess we can take comfort from the fact that Rudd has gone down in the polls.

This morning he said on national television that he came from "The People's Republic of Queensland". Not funny, Kevin .... not funny.

We must all drive home the message that we have no interest in living in a Chinawealth country, which is what I think it will be if the Asia/Pacific Economic Union is fully formed under Rudd's plan by 2020.

Stuart Shaw:

Well, I've been wondering when the ABC tax will also be introduced. This is the one you pay for breathing in oxygen (Atmospheric Breathing Contribution).

Good stuff, Barnaby

KRudd and Wrong Penny have got an emotive campaign going like the proven gross exaggerator and liar, Al Gore. (Who uses an obscene amount of energy himself, got the emotive panick started on climate change and made millions from his dishomest film).

KRudd tries to imply that modern carbon emissions are like the coal particulate smog that plagued London in the industrial revolution! Modern coal power plant emissions are just odourless, colourless, non-toxic CO2 that is essential for all plant life. What you can see is water vapour, the major greenhouse gas, which has around 60 times the greenhouse gas impact of CO2 but is far too complex in its impact to include in computer models.

Also, the relatively very small impact of CO2 on warming is a reverse logarithmic one. Doubling CO2 from now would have little impact on temperature (but would boost crop yields by about 70 per cent).

It's interesting that duing the Roman Warming (250BC - 450AD) and the Medieval Warming (900 - 1280 AD) periods, European temperatures reached 1.5 - 2.0 degrees C warmer than now. This had nothing to do with CO2 but was due to the normal cause - increased solar radiation (which regularly changes). These were boom periods due to increased rainfall and, therefore, increased crop yields!

In the earth's two most recent cool periods, The Dark Ages (535 - 900AD) and The Little Ice Age (1280 - 1850 AD), temperatures in Europe dropped by about 2.0 degrees C. Once again, this had nothing to do with CO2 but was mainly due to reduced levels of solar heat radiation. Both of these periods were accompanied by increased glaciation, drought, crop failures, war, famine, depopulation and disease.

It's interesting that in the most recent warming (1850 - 1998) temperatures rose by only 0.7 degrees C, recovering by barely a third of the temperature drop in the preceding Little Ice age!

KRudd and Wrong Penny seem intent on impoverishing Australians. His proposed ETS Tax would cost more than the introduction of the GST Tax in it's first year and much, much more in subsequent years! All so KRudd can big note himself overseas while achieving no climate benefits and ignoring the needs of his country and citizens.

Perhaps we need a Senate Inquiry to ascertain some actual facts before there is any vote on an ETS?

Senator Joyce,
This is the first time I have entered the public arena on a political issue or any issue for that matter; but after receiviing an email from a freind with a recent interview between Alan Jones of 2GB radio in Sydney and an English Lord (attached) I was concerned enough to send this to you.
I picked you because I saw an interview between you and Lauie Oakes, and you seemed to be asking questions along similar lines.
I have regarded Mr. Rudds ETS push rather sceptically, but this interview did actually alarm me. From what I can gather this Copenhagen Conference is actually a treaty with wider implications - one world government to be exact.
From other coments above it would seem others have picked up on this as well.
Whilst this data in the interview has not been put to the test, that I'm aware of, it certainly raises questions about the aparent benign nature of this agreement in December.
If correct I certainly don't want Mr. Rudd signing anything like what is being proposed in this interview.
On that score what can be done to bring this to the public forum, prior to December? Perhaps if enough public opinion is "expressed" Mr. Rudd's growing arrogance may cause him to not sign something that will back lash on him; I think his ego would struggle with that.
I'm not certain if you will even read this, but hope someone in your team gets to this issue and Australia talk's about it before anything is signed.

Actually, old boy, you have misunderstood the story of old Canute. He made commanded the sea to prove to his sycophantic courtiers that he was not as powerful as the flatterers would have him believe:

"Well, my friends," Canute said, "it seems I do not have quite so much power as you would have me believe. Perhaps you have learned something today. Perhaps now you will remember there is only one King who is all-powerful, and it is he who rules the sea, and holds the ocean in the hollow of his hand. I suggest you reserve your praises for him."

The royal officers and courtiers hung their heads and looked foolish. And some say Canute took off his crown soon afterward, and never wore it again.

I'll bet many readers know this, and suspect you may not be as wise as you like to imagine.

Canute also insisted on planting on growing a lot of forests, which many would thing a good thing, environment-wise. Sadly, his only reason for expanding forests was to ensure more game for him (and not his people) to hunt. A case of doing the right thing for the right reason. Not unlike growing fenced-off private monoculture forests for shareholder profit, instead of biodiverse regional forests in the upper catchments of our dying rivers to ensure water security.

Cheerio.
