“Choice, a non partisan group, held in high esteem by the Australian people has been sidelined in the middle of the night not because they might have been ineffective but the problem was that they may have been effective”, according to Senator Barnaby Joyce.
“Choice might have brought some competition and transparency into the market. “
“It is peculiar in the extreme that just when we had the capacity to turn an absolute lemon into something that might have worked Mr Emerson scrapped it.”
“Of course those from the BIG-BIG Business Council of Australia and the Australian National Retailers Association think it’s a wonderful day now they are no longer held to account. “
“Just like petrol prices exploit the motorist, centralisation in the grocery retail industry exploits the consumer,” says Senator Joyce.
“When you’re trying to work out what the scrapping of Grocery Choice means to you particularly if you are part of a working family pushing a shopping trolley around a supermarket it means you’re going to pay more for groceries. It’s as simple as that.”
