It is a very sad day for most Australians that we are about to “move forward” with legislation to redesign our economy  on a colourless, odourless gas that quite obviously will put up the price of power and put pressure on real jobs in the real economy.

It is a very sad day when we approve a new broad based consumption tax delivered to every house whether they can afford it or not via the power points above their skirting boards, via the heater that keeps them warm, via the air conditioners that keep them cool, via the power that cooks their food, via the washing machine that cleans their clothes.

It is a very sad day when a government seems oblivious to the economic turmoil of the world and belligerently sets the ship of state blindly into precarious waters where the carbon tax we pay will be far in excess of any other scheme in the world, and our own government fails to acknowledge that the vast majority of the world has no such scheme at all.

It is a very sad day when the Australian people are taken for granted, deceived with a platitude addendum that “don’t worry about it; they are just simple souls, who’ll forget about our deceit and get over it.”

It is the height of conceit to think that other nations such as India or China, which the IMF states that by 2016 will be the largest economy in the world, will somehow be influenced by the legislation of our nation at the expense of their people.

We are more guided by Al Gore than by common sense and the chambers of this building have become fascinated with a highly naïve view that disregards the reality that we are merely 32 billion dollars away from our debt ceiling, the point at which on presentation of the nation’s credits card the checkout operator will say “transaction declined - see bank for details”.

One would think that we would be doing everything we can at this juncture to make our nation’s economy strong; to dispense with wondrous thoughts and replace them with utter pragmatism. We should look to the core requirements of core Australians which is to keep control of their cost of living and, more to the point, do nothing to exacerbate the loss of real jobs that require cheap power as their only competitive advantage over other nations who have cheap labour in abundance.

Yet today will end in a back slapping, hugging, kiss-a-thon that will be the bitterest of pill for those away from Parliament House who make the ultimate payment on this absurd tax.

Well, the show is not over until the fat, red haired lady sings.

What the Carbon Tax is really about is the further ramping up of Toxic Levels of Taxation. I predict that before long we will also be paying for Bottled Oxygen and individual oxygen tanks and masks to wear. No doubt this will provide further funds for corporates, who continue to move forward at a rapid pace in their bid to rule the world.

I heard Chairman Julia Gillard-Zedong on TV saying that the government wants to give Australian taxpayers' money to the International Monetary Fund to bail out Greece. She doesn't seem to care that she is putting our own economy at further risk!.

At the same time, she wants to do a 5-for-1 asylum seeker/refugee swap with Malaysia, even though the country citizens already has 70,000+ destitute and homeless people to support, along with a serious housing shortage.

With a Carbon Tax in place, we will be kissing goodbye to Australian jobs as the remainder of our manufacturing industries move offshore.

Yes, we are being reduced to a Third World Nation which is even worse here in Queensland, where our schools and hospitals perform very badly, despite the fact we have huge mineral resources bringing in megabucks.

I think all 3 of my sons could have run the country better at the age of 5 than this pack of corporate neo-communist dopes!

Now that the Carbon Tax has passed through the Senate, I demand a fresh election so that the legislation can be repealed.

I thought we lived in a democracy where legislation is passed on what the majority of the population want. This is obviously a minority government hell bent on getting as many green objectives through parliament whilst in power. Those idiot so called independents need a good kick up the a.... Australia produces around 600 million tonnes of co2 per year, CHINA'S INCREASE IN co2 LAST YEAR WAS 700 MILLION TONNES, now that will be their increase again this year, more for 2012, more again for 2013 and on it goes and these numb skulls think what we are supposedly going to do will achieve one iota of difference to our atmosphere. GET RID OF THEM AND GET RID OF THEM NOW.

Love your work, Barnaby - keep up the pressure! However, you keep referring to the carbon tax as a broad-based consumption tax, which is incorrect. It is, in fact, much worse: a production tax.

Paul Keating once said that Australia was heading for and or will become a banana republic. He was laughed at and ridiculed at the time. He is the one laughing now with the carbon tax passing in the senate. Because that is exactly what is happening. The funniest part is it is his own party that has caused the downfall and destruction of this once great nation. It was home based manufacturing and a strong rural sector that made this country. With that gone there is nothing left. The only thing keeping this country afloat at the present time is the mineral and to some extent the natural resources industry.

People take a good long hard look at the USA. It was the largest economy in the world because it had a trmendous home based manufacturing industry. There is no better example of this than their manufacturing effort during WW2. Today they are totally unable to get themselves out of the GFC mess because they have no home based manufacturing. Succesiive governments have allowed the big corporates to relocate all their manufacturing to China and India thus destroying all the smaller manufacturing businesses at the same time. This has happened all over the socalled western/industrialised world. We here in Australia are no different. That is why the USA and other nations will never bring in a carbon tax, they have learnt the hard way. China and India will never bring in one because they know that the big corporates can take their business to another developing country.

Saving the planet is totally meaningless and pointless if you cannot feed and shelter your family.

Am I the only person to notice the hypocracy of these new electric cars being advertised. They are to be charged by the very same power stations that the carbon tax is supposed to eventually close down because they are creating to much CO2.

What a mob of looneys we have running this country! Labor and their looney cohorts( the Greens) don't give two hoots about us,thevoters, ooh it makes me SO MAD even typing this, yes it would seem it will cost financially to wind this repulsive legislation back, but long term it will cost us more if we do not. Julia Gillard says it will only add on to our weekly costs in a small way; I would not take a scrap of notice of what she says and so too Combet says the same thing( do not believe him either, the snake-oil salesman) We,.the people, have not had our say...........yet!

I feel extremely saddened that someone as clueless as Barnaby Joyce has a say in stearing our country.

Dear Barnaby
Thank you for your comments, they have reached the Alternative Truth Media sites, your the only person from the Opposition who has commented to date.
The Opposition Tony Abbott and your climate change spokesperson Greg Hunt must take the blame, i sent 15 pages of stories proving the whole climate change research was fake, being faked we covered that last year, but did Greg Hunt present any of these stories to Parliament showing and proving these climate centre places were faking their research? NO
And what about this story Barnaby? 30,000 Scientist doubt and call it a scam, did anybody every print out this story and show Parliament?

30,000 Anti-Global Warming Scientists Can’t Be Wrong

http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/22624

With all your Office staff, researchers, advisers nobody from the Opposition side ever brought up that above story of 30,000 people disagree with Julia Gillard one Professor who push this climate change rubbish

And what about the Mainstream Media? They pushed the whole climate change thing along too without even mentioning that above story or the other 15 pages of stories i sent Greg Hunt showing and proving they were openly Faking the figures?

Oh well the Wall Street / London Bankers will be rubbing their hands together they will have a New Investment product to sell, rip people off from their life savings and the NWO - New World One World Government will be rubbing their hands together one sucker down Australia, but both political parties and Governments have always been New World Order Stooges pushing for World Government.

Dear Barnaby
You may like to use these figures and situation to show and prove your above article.
I live in Victoria at present i am 1 person living in Dept Housing 1 Bedroom Unit it cost me $1,000 per year roughly now for Electricity

This is what i face between Federal Government and State Government increases in the next few years.

1) The Smart Meters will raise my Electricity bill by 30 - 40 % increase

2) Price increases over the next 3 years 7 % increase per year

3) Now the Carbon Tax will raise my Electricity alone by about 72%

Which added all together in 3 years from now i will be paying $2,917 approx for the same Electricity i am pay now $1,000 per year and remember i am only 1 person

Can you imagine what families and businesses will be paying?

This country is not the lucky country anymore, they the powers of B are out to make us pay through the nose for everything

Julia Gillard and the Greens are so short sighted, its not only the Carbon Tax increased we face, but other Smart Meter Systems, Natural CPI Increases etc etc we face also

Finally i think you summed it up the Carbon Tax will not do anything to improve the air quality, polluted rivers, seas, Forrest, the Carbon Tax does nothing to address the environment and Global Warming it was and always will be a Tax imposed on our way for A One World Government, run by the Bankers, so the Bankers have all this New money to play about with

Mr. Joyce: thank you for this eloquent piece; it did, indeed, make me sad. One can only shake one's head, take deep breaths, and hold on tight until the next elections. How it is that Australia finds itself in the clutches of such self-obsessed, power-hungry governors, is beyond me, and apparently many others. We can only hope that much of the damage they are wreaking, can be reversed. Good luck to you.

I escaped by leaving the shores of the penal Sheeple colony 20 years ago. Today albeit I may not be living the Aussie dream indebted to the max to the offshore banking cartel, no I am debt free and answer to know one!

To all Australians from a fellow colonial countryman - WAKE UP!

A BBQ, FOOTY, A SLAB, and a color coded shirt to wear on Mondays signifying your role in the slave fascist society of Australia is leading you to a FEMA style Nazi camp near you, hmm the gas ovens are been fired up and JUST FOR YA ALL!! - WTF UP,

Fair enough if we want to reduce carbon, but how will taxing carbon assist? I think it would be so much more beneficial for everyone (including companies to individual households) were allowed to claim tax deducations on money spent on reducing carbon. This way a change to reducing carbon and investing money in green alternatives is positively promoted.

Taxing carbon will make it difficult for anyone to afford to run their car or fly anywhere in a plane. The Carbon Tax is about reducing the whole world to the lowest common denominator (peasant lifestyle).

Please google the CSIRO Energymark Program and you will find many elements of peasant village style living being encouraged, such as growing orange trees on the footpath and forming family groups of 8 for second hand trade.

For those who think, Labor politicians are just idiots, this is certainly not the case. They agreed to communise the world more than 35 years ago, and they crept along slowly in that direction, using the "Slowly, slowly, catchee, monkey" technique used by destructive cults in order to reel in the people (the stupid ones, anyway).

If people don't want to be sold out to other nations, please don't vote for anyone from the Communist Left (Labor included).

Senator John Madigan (DLP) has spoken out against the Carbon Tax in the Senate. I am told the widespread application of this legislation could take 20 years to dismantle.

So if you want a fresh election, please hammer federal politicians like hell until we get one!
