Today marks one year since the Labor party and the Greens exchanged vows and joined together in coalition.

It is clear that one year on, this marriage has been a disaster for Australia. Minority government is not serving Australia well.

We have a government that is drifting and not sure of what direction it is taking Australia. The High Court’s 6-1 rejection of the government’s “Malaysian solution” is in effect of vote of no confidence in this government’s competence.

The government’s refusal to take to the electorate its radical Green agenda shows a lack of respect for the Australian people. A government that doesn’t respect the people can’t expect the people to respect the government.

We all remember the photos. Julia Gillard and Bob Brown wearing corsages in their lapels and signing what looked a lot like a marriage registry, Wayne Swan and Christine Milne looking on as approving members of the bridal party.

The government’s record since then is a rolling series of calamities:

·         In October, they announced a Murray-Darling Basin plan that would have destroyed production in Australia’s food bowl.

·         In February, the government announced a carbon tax despite the Prime Minister promising five days before the last election that “there will be no carbon tax under a government I lead”.

·         In June, the government decided overnight to outlaw our $320 million live cattle trade to Indonesia, a decision that is still causing devastation throughout northern Australia.

·         In July, our nation’s debt passed $200 billion for the first time ever. Labor has borrowed an average of $100 million each day they have been in government.

·         And, just yesterday the High Court ruled Labor’s “Malaysian solution” invalid because the government had not done its homework.

well Barnaby what can we as the voters do about it? she is ignorant to what we are saying, has ministers who openly insult the electorate and treat us with absolute contempt, ministers who run up bills for prostitutes on union credit cards and yet still seem to be teflon coated??

when are politicians going to realise that they work for the electorate and not the other way around??

The ATO are chasing small businesses for any outstanding tax payments, even small ones, harder than they ever have in my 30 year memory as an accountant. I can only presume it's because Julia and Bob are spending money so fast, they are putting more and more pressure on the ATO to collect everything they can as fast as they can.

They are making it even tougher for small business dealing with lowest ever consumer confidence. The only thing that I see will boost consumer confidence is a new election

All so true. Another comment Senator Joyce you were right on the USA credit rating thing and I remember at the time it was said you are so stupid and wouldn't be any good in a financial position. One point I would like to make though Labor is much worse than the Greens at least the Greens tell us what they are about and stick to it. Labor can flip in a minute and somehow seemed to weed out the more considered positions of the Greens to find the most ill considered policies.

Dear Barnaby

You could add some more calamities to this awful government, In just one year the amount of damage they have done to our economy. We still have 2 years this this mob, imagine what other disasters are around the corner. If they can do this much in one, I don't want to imagine what they can do with another 2 years.

Pray that Wilkie keeps his word and Labor doesn't support his reform and he crosses the floor as he has be suggesting. Only hope for an early election.

Our voices don't mean much in politics as their is no law where a bad government can be over thrown. Someone needs to change the law that first no minority government can ever govern Australia again, has to be a majority and second that there is mid term elections for senate seats, front benches and back benches like they do in America, that way politicians are held accountable for their governing by the people. At the moment Labor and Greens are running mad and destroying everything in their path and introducing bullying tactics, finger pointing, accusing everyone for their bad judgements, making a mockery of parliament house in not answering question and walking out of the room when tax payers are paying for them to be there and no in the whips office having tin tams and then returning back for the vote. that has got to change If you leave the senate you should not be allowed back in to vote.
Keep up the good work
regards

Alex
