This morning on ABC Newsradio Rob Oakeshott claimed that he had a "mandate" to support the carbon tax in Parliament.

“... I believe that the policy of an emissions trading scheme, as I have taken to the last two elections locally and been successful on and been given a mandate on, is the right policy for Australia and now is the right time to pursue it.”

Is this the same Rob Oakeshott who had this to say about the word "mandate" during his 17-minute speech to support a Labor government?

“This is not a mandate for any government. We should have a great big swear jar for the next three years and if anyone uses that word mandate they should have to chip in some money.”

While we are talking about mandates, what mandate did Rob have to support a Labor government?

Rob Oakeshott needs to explain himself to the people of Lyne. If it's his policy he should defend it.

The member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, has offered him the perfect opportunity, a debate in his local electorate.

Rob should explain his position to the people in his electorate not just the Canberra press gallery.

In the same interview Rob went on to complain about a newspaper that is run by some former Nationals staffers in his own electorate.

“There is a local newspaper here called the Port Paper which was set up by the press secretary of the Deputy Premier of New South Wales, you know the National Party and it is essentially now run by the National party. The editor is a former electorate staff member of the National party member for Cowper. So these are real issues that we need to look at not only at a community level, not only at a news limited level, but also why certain people are choosing to get involved in boards of, for example, Channel 10.”

Is Rob suggesting that some people should not be allowed to publish newspapers?

You are right Rob. It's all just a huge clandestine plot. Every night we secretly rendezvous from all corners of Australia in Port Macquarie and talk into the wee hours of the morning about you (and where we are hiding the aliens in area 51) then we write editorials.

Oakshot's explanation of why he has to support the tax is woeful. He has supported the betrayal of Australian people. If directors of public companies mislead the Australian people as badly as Labor have they would be be in prison. Oakshot supports this treachery and in doing so has betrayed us all and showed us what his morals and integrity are worth.

The whole scare campaign was about global temperature becoming so high it would destroy much of the world. Ask Oakshot what he thinks our tax will do to reduce temperature. If if he gives the correct answer it will make a mockery of the the tax he is going to support.

This Rob Oakeshott is a bit of a clown wasn't he the one in his acception speech that said no one had a MANDATE. He is a person that will wreck this country for his on gain.

Rob Oakeshott admitted from the beginning he did not have a mandate to take any of the actions he has chosen. I sincerely believe if he was a local business owner he would be a notch above failure because of the selfish approach he has taken with his vacillating stance. The sooner he is removed from any kind of leadership in the Nation the better.

Please don't make Rob Oakshott explain himself. I don't have enough time left to hear him out! As well, all that gale force hot air blowing forth from his lips could very well do more damage to the ozone. His constitutents have my sympathies. He must singly be one of the greatest disappointments of their times. How will they ever have the confidence to vote for anyone again? Trust is precious. Has he destroyed theirs?

Isnt it a schizophrenic style of governing this labor/green party with paranoia of climate change and now a media conspiracy?

This is to be a peaceful and respectful protest asking for the resignation of this government.

People of Australia have had enough.

Can someone please explain why an ETS is better than the Carbon Tax....and IF, as we are led to believe, the climate in fact is not actually warming anyway (and its pretty obvious that it is'nt) why do we need a tax atall?
Are'nt we simply swapping one tax for another..when neither is necessary???
My concerns are..that the "Banks" (with Malcolm Turnbull as a rep.)are the main beneficiiaries...not the climate, and not the people..who do the paying.
Could Barnaby please explain the intricacies of this matter.
