Senator Barnaby Joyce has today extended his deep and heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of twenty-three year old Sapper Rowan Jaie Robinson from the Sydney based Incident Response Regiment (IRR).

His death marks the 27th Australian to have died on service in Afghanistan since 2002 and, tragically, the fourth loss in two weeks.

Senator Joyce paid tribute to this brave young man whose actions have been described as heroic both for his fellow soldiers and the local Afghan population.
