Minister Combet’s announcement that they are going to compensate working families for the cost of carbon tax should confirm one thing; a carbon tax is going to cost working families.

The fundamental issue here is that a carbon tax is not going to change the temperature of the globe or change the climate in any shape or form. It is merely a gesture. A gesture that means that those who are already finding it extremely difficult to get by are going to have that difficulty exacerbated by a pointless tax with a deceitful inference that it will change global climatic conditions.

What is the point of taking money off people, spinning it around a bureaucracy and giving people back a bit of their own money and expecting to be thanked for it? Why don’t you just let people keep their own money and go away?

In the meantime you put up the price of the fundamental mechanism of commerce, power, so what is now our competitive advantage? Obviously we don’t want lower wages so ultimately there will be fewer jobs.

Is Australia going to be reduced to a country that digs up red rocks and black rocks, iron and coal and sends them over to where they don’t have a carbon tax so they can produce the things we used to produce?

Doesn’t the government get it? The people don’t want this tax and surely they have some right in being respected on this decision.

Even on the CFMEU website, the majority of the workers don’t want a carbon tax. I’m sure that this is not a National Party stronghold, so my advice to the Labor party is, listen to your own people otherwise it will end up in tears, like the NSW election.

A redistribution of wealth using a tax on breathing.
The carbon tax, along with free trade agreements and reduced tariffs, will destroy all Australian industry and jobs. Then when Australia is broke and has the status of a third world nation, it will be easier for the UN and its organisations to sell a global currency and global government to the desperate people.

Nobody seems to have yet picked up that Gillard's setting up a pyramid scheme, that's going to fail spectacularly when industry converts to clean energy! There will be no money to compensate Australians struggling with their bills once the conversion has taken place, and we all know how high the price of a carbon tax has to be before conversion is worthwhile to business. Come on Barnaby, challenge Combet to put some figures on the table to show how they plan to deal with compensation once conversion has taken place! We won't be able to afford our bills and the Government won't have a money pot to help us anymore. This is going to be a DISASTER! What the hell is Garnaut thinking? Hasn't he thought the mathematics of this through?

Yes, if an election was held tomorrow, Labor wouldn't just have to "go away" as Barnaby suggests.

The Australian people are angry because they are being treated like fools. I think a swift kick up the Khyber Pass at the edge of a steep cliff would be more the order of the day.

If you speak with former Labor voters, they will tell you the following:

"We used to be very staunch Labor voters, but now none of them seem to be any good."

Here in Queensland, Anna Bligh is unable to go to an early election because the unions won't give her any money. New people are also emerging from the woodwork to challenge Labor at the polls.

I saw Minister Combet give his speech on the Carbon Tax at the National Press Club. A few silly young women looked on as if they were hanging on every word of their saviour, but the vast majority looked sceptical, if not downright angry.

A Carbon Tax will:

1. drive manufacturers and miners out of the country
2. cause large scale unemployment
3. put more people on the Food Bank queues
4. make more people homeless
5. cut a hole in the budget big enough for an elephant to easily slip through
6. increase bills for fuel, food, electricity and every possible commodity and service
7. land more people on the dole queue
8. empty the government coffers of BORROWED money
9. drive up foreign debt to monumental levels
10. cause people to riot in the streets.

In the USA, where more than half of the population have rejected a Carbon Tax out of hand, President Obama has also failed to listen to the people, and is forging ahead with a GLOBAL AGENDA instead of a democratic, patriotic NATIONAL AGENDA.

Citizens of the developed world must immediately march on Parliament House, or the White House etc in the tens of thousands, to give all of these idiots the message that they can either REPRESENT THE WISHES OF THE PEOPLE or be thrown out onto the street and left to starve themselves!

What could be fairer than that?

Many of the world's politicians stay in power by sugar-coating the facts to appease their electorate and constituents. It is a breath of fresh air to see some politicians drop that farcical mask and be blunt about the facts. Thanks for the non-conformity, Senator Joyce.

There has been this fear created by the deceit of the likes of Al Gore, stupid scientists and idiotic politicians along with their advisors. Now they expect people to swallow this story that Lone Ranger Combet, Wong, Gillard etc come riding in and save the planet by taxing a necessary substance - yes essential for life!!!!!!!!
If all of the man made CO2 emissions were collected and formed a gaseous egg shell around planet earth, guess how thick this layer of gas would be???????

About 3cm!!!!. Considering the height of our atmosphere.... for goodness sake. And nature produces about 30 times more. Wake up people to the con. Its fraudulent and the blatant lies about this tax and its benefit to the environment (.... and 10% to the UN) must be treated with contempt - along with those perpetrating the deceit.

Keep going Barnaby! It is a fraud. You have called it correctly.

Yes, and my son in Canberra just told me that they have just experienced their first morning at a temperature of 1 degree Centigrade.

Not long ago, I sent photographs to my grandchildren depicting very heavy snowfalls in Europe. Cars were completely buried and people could not get out of their front doors.

If any of Labor's economists knew anything about Climate, they would know that the climatic conditions in one area of the world at any given time have around zero impact on Planet Earth as a whole, and is not a predictor of the climate for the next day or next week, let alone the next 50 years or longer.

As Professor Bob Carter (Climatologist) has said, large areas of ice can form and disappear within a single season, without it being a predictor of anything other than the beginning and ending of a single winter.

The people who don't accept Climate Change are those who are forcing high levels of taxation upon us. The rest of us know that climate changes on a whim, and is not dependent upon the collection of taxes.
