Whilst the rolling Greek tragedy that is the Labor Party continues, the price of utilities continues to take away the spare cash of many Australian families. The Labor Party went to the election saying that they would ease the squeeze and assist with the cost of living but this is another promise which they have never delivered. In fact they were increasing the debt and increasing pressure on interest rates while they made life harder not easier for people. Australians are quickly coming to the conclusion that life under Labor is an erratic roller coaster which the wheels will fly off at any moment.

After promising to reduce the cost of living, since Labor was elected:
Electricity prices have gone up 34%
Water prices have gone up 29%
Gas prices have gone up 26%
Overall, utility bills have gone up 31%
To compare Labor against the Coalition on an annual basis (and correcting for inflation):
Electricity prices are going up 9.3% a year under Labor. They went up 0.5% a year under the Coalition.
Water prices are going up 7.6% a year under Labor. They went up 1.2% a year under the Coalition.
Gas prices are going up 6.5% a year under Labor. They went up 1.3% a year under the Coalition.
Overall, utility prices are going up 8.2% a year under Labor. They went up 0.8% a year under the Coalition.

Australia can't afford another three years of Labor.

I think most of these increases have occurred because of the corporatisation of utilities i.e. the government turning over every profitable service to those who wish to control us, after setting up the infrastructure at taxpayer's expense.

I figure large corporations have had lessons in the new set of 3 Rs instead of the usual Reading, Writing and Arithmetic.

Now the name of the corporate game is to Rob, Ration and Rule as follows:

1. Rob the government of taxpayers' money to set infrastructure in place.

2. Ration everything in order to maximise profits, while robbing individual citizens, thus growing in wealth and controlling even a larger share of the market, forcing others out.

3. Rule the nation with harsh punitive laws, after it has gone broke, and ensure a very low standard of living by robbing people of a living wage and a decent home to live in.

On second thought, I think it should be the 5 Rs.

Rob ... Ration ... Rob ... Rule ... Rob.

Last night I had to contact Unitywater relating to water flowing out of the hot water system on an adjoining property, which is currently vacant. The valve had clearly gone, resulting in a continuous stream from the overflow pipes.

The guy who answered the phone told me to fix the problem myself! He said to turn off the tap on the HWS. I had to remind him that the tap is inside the laundry. In the end I asked a male neighbour to turn the water off at the meter, since it was dark outside.

Does this sound like service to you? Now I have to contact the real estate agent and tell them of the problem. Why couldn't he?

Everyone probably heard on the news through the week, that Telstra has been in trouble for unfair competition i.e. trying to block other service providers from the network.

I have also now received a third bill in which they have overcharged me by about $20. I have tried to sort the matter out twice before, and they think the answer is to punish me by bumping up my telephone rental and internet by $10 each, when I wouldn't let them lock me into a 2 year contract without my informed consent!

We can expect the future to hold higher costs for EVERY service, all of which will be inferior, deplete government coffers, and empty our wallets of cash. Meanwhile skulduggerous manipulators from large corporations will become rich.

This is the Crush Australia Policy in action.

I think the people know all about the increasing cost of utilities, but what they may not understand is that the more the government privatises its income producing assets and utilities, the less money it has to pay pensions, the more the banks are empowered, and even the moths will not want to visit their wallets.

Today I attended a political forum in the Seat of Ryan which was put on by the National Seniors. The Labor candidate was unable to make it, but there was a new female candidate for the Liberal Party (doctor), another female doctor running for The Greens, and the incumbent now running as an Independent (kickout from the Liberal Party).

I asked 5 pertinent questions about Aged Care before I was silenced by the chairman for getting too many in. I got no answers at all, and neither did anyone else.

It seems to me that parties will not even allow their candidates to make any pre-election promises. The kickout from the Liberal Party knew nothing about Aged Care, despite the fact he said he had been in the parliament for a decade!

I gave each of the candidates a typed sheet containing all of my questions regarding Aged Care, excessive Middle Class Welfare, empowerment of corporations over government and people, and in particular, a request for a guarantee that they would not financially empower large corporations to fleece the general community using a Carbon Trading Scheme.

Among other requests, I asked for a cap on bonds paid for Low Care, hoping this would go some way towards curtailing the takeover of Aged Care by The Macquarie Group.

I also made a mistake in my last post. Telstra has tried to overcharge me $30 in all, not $20.
