The flooding over Southern Queensland is said to cover an area larger than Victoria. It is amazing to think that a couple months ago this area was so dry that many people were in a state of despair about their future. Then the rains came and we were all so optimistic. Now, we are facing a threat that the community hasn't seen before. The long term effect will be great in that the farming community will see good returns which will then carry on to a tremendous boost for the whole nations balance of payments. I do feel for those farmers who had nothing last year and are now watching their crops being washed away. It's a tough life. Let's hope we all get through this time safely. I would like to thank all the hard working members of the community, especially the Emergency Services, SES and Council staff who have have been working on managing the effects of the flood for days now and who will not see any respite for many days to come.
