Labor Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner has shown that when it comes to decisions about expenditure of the nations funds, expenditure in the billions, expenditure they borrowed the money for, that he can’t be bothered sitting back and doing the homework and dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.
It was astounding to hear Mr Tanner on Sky News with David Speers saying that the ceiling insulation and solar panel program had to be rushed out and he didn’t have time to get across the details. It is the responsibility of Mr Tanner with the vast resources of his department available to him to make sure that he is prudent with the oversight of how our nation’s dollars are spent.
It’s now apparent that there is an $850 million blowout in the solar panel program.
Mr Tanner you do have to sit back and dot the i’s and cross the t’s to avoid a $1.5 billion blowout in the school halls scheme. Mr Tanner you do have to sit back and dot the i’s and cross the t’s to avoid a $4 billion blowout in the Forward Estimates on expenditure.
Early in the week Mr Tanner was evasive about how much money was unspent in the stimulus program, which Senator Conroy later that day in question time said was $21 billion, yet in Estimates the department said it was only $17 billion.  Another $4 billion mistake!
Basically Mr Tanner when you tell the nation that you haven’t dotted the i’s and cross the t’s, it is your economic credibility and the credibility of Labor in general that is questioned.

I thought I heard a comment weeks ago that the Solar Panel Program was to be discontinued. But then last week I received another form to fill out, allaying my fears.

When I had a look at the My School Website, I was completely appalled at the scholastic performance of public and smaller private schools, compared with the elite schools charging heaps of money.

For goodness sake! Politicians! Stop giving out money to the well-heeled while the poor and average continue to suffer.

I'm sure we were told on the news only one week ago that it is now IMPOSSIBLE to get your name down on a waiting list for public hospital treatment in Brisbane.

If the Solar Panel Program is in jeopardy due to widespread financial recklessness and wastage, tell the bloody rich to pay for their own!

Barnaby,

I came in on the radio interview you had yesterday with someone from Treasury who couldn't (wouldn't) give you the amount of the gross debt for all the states. I found this to be incredible as monetary policy surely must take into acount all Govt. debt not just Federal. Do you know what the figure is? Cheers Peter

Good to see you've got your trillions and zillions sorted out Barnaby. It's a bit like having "dotted the i's and crossed the t's".

How does a bean counter and failed bank johnny from a tin-pot, one-horse western Qld town manage to accrue such staggering knowledge?

For one ..he does his homework...loves and cares about this country...has commonsense ..a great sense of humour... a mind, far superior "to yours, by the look of it"...and thats just for starters.!!

Tell me what experience "a gig band member,TV presentator, union delegates by the dozen...to name but a few.. have in running this country.???

Every time the Labor/Green mob get into power......they give handouts to all Aussies ..Gee !! arn't they great ..the workers exclaim..!!......till
6-12 mths down the track...the Taxes and cost of living starts to rise.

LABOR ALWAYS GIVES AT THE FRONT DOOR....and TAXS THROUGH THE BACK DOOR...!!!

People in this country have to learn the LIFE SKILL...
You get NOTHING ....for.. NOTHING !! ..SOMEONE MUST PAY.!!

Countries are run like Household Budgets ...overspend in one area...you must cut back in others.

There must also be priorities where money is spent..this is the single biggest issue at present...
I regard Health as a priorty along with an urgent need into helping CARERS of Disabled Children (young and old)...4 Corners highlighted this Monday night.
I ..and thousands of other parents are at a loss ...what to do with our children when we can no longer take care of them..?
I would really like to see a building setting ..resembling Aged Care Villas ..whereby a number or disabled people can live together ...but still have the support they need through carers/nursing staff...together with a central building for social, and entertainment needs.
This is my dream.....all I have to do is convince "the People who Govern" of its importance.!!
Most Disabled People ...Dont Vote.!!
As the era of "Baby Boomers" fast approach ..extra burden will hit the health area.....Govns arent prepared.

If Australia hadn't spent half the money on "Over the top Environmental Issues" over the past 10-15 yrs...we wouldnt be in this situation.
Sure.. we should consider fauna and flora....but not put as a priority above our senior and disabled HUMANS.
I seen a list of "Green Millionaires" yesterday.....Australia has 3..
Does that tell anyone ....anythink ????
Green has turned to the NEW GREEDY.
After the ETS/CC/Native Veg Law/Copenhagen Lies and Hoax....Hey !! time to wake up Aussies. !!

Surely this finance minister has been one of the most irresponsible ever. He didn't need to choose economists to advise him to splurge our money and put us in debt. There is no excuse for this fellow. Immediately when he came to office he drafted two well known Keynesian nutballs to Canberra. So when these people want to do the damage they choose the adviser to excuse them of the responsibility.

The spending side of the fiscal side of any stimulus package always causes unemployment. Its one of the most vicious lies out there that these parasites have saved peoples jobs.

Graeme Bird:

If you had seen the Secretary of the Australian Workers' Union (AWU) do today's National Press Club address, you would have heard him say that the Keynesians were on the Coalition side of the parliament.

He said Barnaby Joyce knows nothing about economics, but look what the Labor Party is doing! I think it's one those kettle/pot/black scenarios.

He even said Steve Fielding was a nutbag.

He congratulated Australian workers on their acceptance of shorter working hours for less money during the recession. He didn't bother to mention the fact that they still had to do exactly the same amount of work, and will probably never get back the extra hours and pay.

He had a few good ideas on how to protect the superannuation of Australian workers and retirees, and prevent the banks from ripping us all off more, but I don't believe anything that fellow says at all.

Then he tried to convince us that the use of Chinese steel and the employment of 100,000 Chinese workers on the Gorgon Project had nothing to do with Rudd.

Instead this was the fault of the Premier of WA, whom he described as the Manchurian Candidate.

How stupid does he think we are?

Everyone knows that the Manchurian Candidate is the Ruddster himself.

On second thoughts, I think there are quite a few Manchurian Candidates in Australian parliaments throughout the land. I think we could add Clive Palmer, mining magnate, to the list as well.

Then the speaker said the AWU and Labor only approve of the importation of visa holders if they are to receive equal pay with Aussie workers. From what I've seen in Aged Care, this is not exactly the case at all. They don't pay the visa holders less money, but nobody gets an increase!

In fact the Australian Nurses' Federation (ANF) has had no luck at all in improving the wages and working conditions in aged care centres at all, with a projected loss of up to $300 a week for senior nurses.

The ANF has also had no success in getting aged care workers equal pay with their counterparts working in hospitals.

Lorikeet,

Thanks for your definition...really like the description..fits them to a tee !! or do I mean "tree"..!!
I must say I was shocked to see 3 millionaires in Oz.
I know I should have known better eh?
Never have been conned by the "Green Revolution",but even I have been taken back the amount of lies and to the extent they will go to achieve their "aims".
Lets hope Aussies wake up to this Green Cult.....fast.!!

Hi Barnaby,
Thought you did a great job on Q&A Monday night.
I know these programmes are sometimes "necessary evils" to get any connection with the public via MSM at present.
It was really enjoyable to see Tony Jones "stalled in the starting block"...
Tanner didnt appear to get any "mileage" at all.!!

Was highly amused by Rudd yesterday, trying to convince us all that the Media wasnt biased and that there was NO CORRUPTION on their part..on HOW or What they reported.......Sure pull the other one....!!!
Even Laurie Oakes bought into the argument...

Well all I can say is .......PROVE IT..

Laurie and Co......lets start the debate :

1) Climate warming over the decades... False?
2) Carbon in the atmosphere...stops being absorbed over a saturated point % so cannot increase......True ?
4) Average Aussie >$ 2000 /yr tax on goods/services to pay for ETS..
we would like a resonable estimate...people other than govn need only apply for the debate....Compulsory
5) Why are overseas students allowed to work 20hrs/week while studying in this country ...then can turn around and apply for perm.jobs and status here..at the expense of our Aussie kids...I hardly think we have a shortage of Hair Dressers or Chefs to name but two.!!
6) Why are workers from NZ treated as "less of a person" with regard to perm status in this country...than someone who "floates here"or comes and studies with the intent of working/staying perm and gets all the "perks". ?
7) Why are our students forced to stay at high schools till 17yrs when violence is increasing and some kids literally HATE being there, and are" hell bent " on disrupting other students in their studies.?
Surely compulsive TRADE STUDIES at Tafe Colleges would be a far greater option for all ...if they obtain a Year 10 Cert. or equivalent..and then switched to a Tafe campus???.....What do readers here think???

I could think of many more topics that the average person would love to put forward for constructve debate for the MSM.

But wont hold my breath.....

I think they finally have the message however,...the average aussie ..doesnt believe a BLOODY THING they report anymore......!!

Bring it On !!!!!

Shannon:

You have asked a lot of questions here.

The reason we are empowering foreign students in our universities is all part of the communist agenda to make us part of the Asia/Pacific Economic Union by 2020 in a world governed by corporations. This will involve a redistribution of wealth, resources and opportunities from the Western economies (ours and NZ) to the third world.

The Kiwis have to go back when their visas have expired, because if they stay it will interfere with the agenda to Asianise both New Zealand and Australia. So when their working holiday is over, back they have to go!

In 2008/09 financial year, the Rudd government brought in 158,000 migrants. About 70,000 were from Asia, about 30,000 from Europe/UK, a little over $2000 from the USA, about 25,000 from Africa and the Middle East, $2000 from Central and South America, and $30,000 from Oceania (Pacific Islands) & Antarctica.

So now we are becoming the great big melting pot of people which communists desire.

As for Rudd et al saying that the media is independent, the truth is that the media controls and manipulates information as it sees fit at the time. Remember Rupert Murdoch heads up one of the world's largest corporations, with a voracious appetite to rule and control everything.

You are right in thinking that a lot of students would be better off going to TAFE rather than staying at high school. To my knowledge, Bonnie Barry (Labor incumbent, State seat of Aspley) got trounced by LNP partly because the State government had closed a TAFE facility in her area.

The reason they keep all of our kids in overcrowded, undisciplined high schools is so that there will be plenty of "factory fodder" or "warehouse and distribution fodder" for the corporations to exploit.

Also if Australian school children got a good education, this would interfere with the plan to empower the third world. They cannot empower Asia if most of the university graduates and tradespeople are ours.

Another reason that kids are not properly disciplined in our schools is so that they will have no respect for adults, and will agree to the euthanasia of their own parents. If they have no education and are forced to work for slave wages, they might be fairly eager to bump off Mum and Dad to provide a roof for their own children.

As for there being 3 Green millionaires in Oz, I think this must be a gross understatement of the facts. Perhaps I have missed something.

In Brisbane, ordinary houses are worth $500,000 alone. I have a brother who is a multi-millionaire, which is exceedingly common these days.

If you want answers to your questions, all you need to do is look at the worldwide Agreements and Declarations our politicians have signed dating back up to 35+ years.

It must be about 30 years ago that the government said we needed to become part of the Asia/Pacific. Although the people delivered a resounding "No!", the government went ahead and did as it chose without the consent of voters.

So now Australian women are expected to have 3 children, cook, clean, keep house, work at a full-time job and taxi their children to various activities.

Compare this with a Chinese woman. She has 1 child, a smaller house to clean, goes out to work, and all of her children's activities (music, sport, art, Kung Fu, choir etc) are provided within the school curriculum at no cost.

But still we have Wayne Swan calling for greater productivity. I think Wilson Tuckey is right in suggesting that Rudd only wants people to take Paid Parental Leave of 18 weeks to lock women into a lifetime of back breaking work.

As for retiring at age 65, this is quickly becoming a pipe dream. Soon Australian citizens won't be allowed to retire at all.

At the same time, in Victoria and South Australia, State governments are hell bent on pushing through Euthanasia Laws.

Please people, vote only for small parties and independents (check out who they really are first) and put Labor and The Greens last.
