I was asked on SKY News if the Labor Government's concession to exclude agriculture was a good move.

As I explained, the ETS was a ridiculous massive tax that was never going to change the temperature of the globe and is still a ridiculous new tax that will not change the temperature. Agriculture was not included from the start anyway but farmers will still have costs added to their inputs - everything from electricity to fence posts, fertiliser, transport and the cost of processing meat and dairy products. What they said they were going to consider (in 2013), they have now considered and ruled out.

Australians will gain nothing from the imposition of this massive new tax except higher prices on everything. It is a gesture to suggest this tax must be agreed to before the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference next month. It is Mr Rudd's gesture to add to his standing on the world stage.

I am not going to be voting for a massive new tax that goes on every part of your life. Remember, if agriculture is out, someone somewhere else has to pay.

Please add your name to the almost 10,000 others on the petition to stop the ETS.
