The Murray Darling Basin Plan, which should have been released before the election, could have been released during the election, must be released now as the election is over.
The lives of so many people in the basin hang precariously in the balance whilst we await the ditherings of the Minister who is attempting to procrastinate her way out of her predicament. She knows the results of the plan could mean decimation to regional irrigation communities and she does not have the strength or the conviction to release the plan and deal with the issues.
Hard decisions must be made and time waits for no one.
The guide to the draft plan is complete and even the Minister said that she would release it after the election.  Well the election is over, the people have voted, the ballot boxes are being stored away, but the draft Murray Darling Basin Plan hasn’t seen the light of day and the question to Minister Wong is “what is your excuse this time”?
