The Labor Party is doing everything in their power to cloud the motivation of their Emissions Trading tax with proclamations of imminent doom and destruction.

The latest scare campaign by Labor follows the release of the results of a joint Parliamentary Inquiry into Climate Change and environmental impacts on coastal communities including its findings relating to projected sea level rises.

So disturbed by this news and no doubt sensing an opportunity to contribute to the latest Labor Party ‘dial a comment for the day’, Labor backbenchers, including Jim Turnour, Graham Perrett & Mark Dreyfus have been on parade with fear and loathing lines at the ready in an attempt to convince us all that this is the reason Australians should vote for their massive tax- ETS prior to Copenhagen.

It is not unusual that these emotive statements are babbled out by the Labor Party.
Will this make the sea level go down? Maybe we should call it the King Canute tax, the Viking King of England, Denmark and Norway who believed that he could turn the tide.

The clanger of all time is Peter Garrett’s comments that the sea will rise 6m by the end of the century. Six thousand millimetres divided by 91years means approximately 66mm per year. Unfortunately Griffith University talks about approximately 9mm a year which leaves us with a Labor fudge factor of about 730%. What’s that between Labor mates?

In due course sea levels will rise and sea levels will fall and people will have to move when sea levels rise and move back after sea levels fall. For the life me I cannot fathom how a new tax is going to change the level of the ocean or assist me in the cost of dealing with the problem.

Minister Wong, during question time today talks about the potential flooding of Kakadu so I am thinking of rushing off to Uluru and start building an ark just in case, mind you, to be honest, if there is someone wanting a quick sale on a harbour side house I’m prepared to take the risk.
