New England cultural project funding available

26 Sep 2017

Minister for the Arts, Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield, and Deputy Prime Minister and Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, invite regional artists, arts workers and organisations in the New England to apply for Festivals Australia funding.

Approximately $1.2 million is available each financial year for arts and cultural projects that encourage community participation and audience engagement from people living in regional and remote communities.

“This program funds festivals, parades and community celebrations in regional and remote areas,” Mr Joyce said.

“This is a terrific opportunity to plan high quality arts experiences for people living in New England.

“It’s events like these that help keep communities alive in country Australia.

“I encourage organisations with the capacity to deliver events to apply for funding.”

Minister Fifield said the program is an example of the Australian Government’s commitment to supporting a vibrant arts and culture sector in regional areas.

“The Turnbull/Joyce Government is proud to fund programs such as this to ensure regional and remote audiences have access to high quality artistic experiences where they live,” Minister Fifield said.

“The program gives audiences access to a diverse range of art forms and ensures Australian artists and performers gain wider exposure for their work.”

Applications for this funding round close on Friday, 20 October 2017.
