Students at Calrossy Anglican School in Tamworth will benefit from a new secondary classroom block thanks to a Federal Government grant.

Member for New England Barnaby Joyce announced the Australian Government would provide $950,000 towards the project at Calrossy Anglican School through the Capital Grants Program.

Upgrades include a new secondary classroom block with four flexible use classrooms, four performing arts learning spaces, four science labs and associated storage areas and preparation rooms, general storage areas, meeting rooms and staff and student amenities.

“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities and Calrossy is a proven performer with a third of this year’s HSC group ranked in the top percentile for their exams,” Mr Joyce said.

“The Government has committed $660 million until 2021 through the Capital Grants Program, which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.

“These upgrades will help advance Calrossy Anglican School and ensure our classrooms have modern facilities.

“This latest funding for Calrossy comes on the back of nearly $800,000 in infrastructure investment at the school including wheelchair-friendly pathways and a new library.

“Since 2013, we have delivered more than $8 million in funding to New England schools across the region under the Capital Grants Program.

“I congratulate Calrossy Anglican School for their successful grant and look forward to seeing the impact these improvements will have in our community.”

Other New England schools recently funded under the program include O'Connor Catholic College Armidale, St Nicholas School Tamworth, Scone Grammar School and Carinya Christian School.
