The Deputy Prime Minister and Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce welcomed Government funding for essential advocacy and welfare services for veterans, serving members and their families, war widows and widowers in the New England Electorate.

Mr Joyce said more than $47,000 granted through the Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) grants program would fund local ex-service organisations to continue providing help and advice to the veteran community.

“Our local ex-service organisations are making a real difference in the lives of veterans and ADF personnel by providing essential services from a trusted source,” Mr Joyce said.

The Tamworth RSL Sub-branch will receive 21,654.11 while the Legacy Club of Tamworth receives $26,001.65.

“This money will help fund salaries for trained advocates and pension staff, essential office supplies, computer equipment, internet access and other administrative needs,” Mr Joyce said.

“The Turnbull-Joyce Government is committed to providing ongoing support for our veterans, war widows and widowers, current serving Australian Defence Force personnel and their families in the New England Electorate.”
