Update on Guyra Aged Care Facility

for Joyce

FEDERAL Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce received an update on the progress of Guyra’s Kolora Aged Care facility when he met with a delegation from the Guyra Shire Council.

The Council’s delegation included the Mayor, Cr Hans Hietbrink, Cr Dot Vickery and the General Manager Peter Stewart.

Kolora Aged Care Facility received a $500,000 grant from the Federal Government, part of an election campaign pledge delivered by Mr Joyce to assist with the establishment of a new dementia wing at the facility.

“This Government is committed to providing long-term improvements in social and economic infrastructure for regional communities,” Mr Joyce said.

“I was delighted to be able to meet up with the Guyra Council delegation and to hear their progress report on the Kolora Aged Care Facility,” he said.

“I am really enjoying being able to work with all the local project proponents and to help implement these important community initiatives and to delivering genuine benefits to the people of New England.”

Cr Hietbrink said the Kolora facility would enable Guyra residents to stay within their community rather than seek dementia care in the nearby towns of Glen Innes and Armidale.
