MORE than 600 premises in Tingha and Bundarra will benefit from the rollout of fixed wireless broadband, the Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce said.

Work has begun with the issue of contract instructions to National Broadband Company construction partners.

Mr Joyce said the NBN could open up opportunities for regional and rural families and businesses with access to the internet speeds and bandwidth that many in the big cities take for granted.

The two NBN projects are in what was described as ‘build preparation phase, Mr Joyce said.

He said the construction process takes on average about 12 months until residents and business owners can access services over the NBN from phone or internet.

Residents in the Tingha and Bundarra areas should click on www.nbnco.com.au/rollout/rollout-map for information on whether they are within the fixed wireless footprint.

The announcement today also reveals that more than 61,393 homes and businesses are already connected to the network.
