Joyce points to last chance for input in child care review

27 June 2014

FEDERAL Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce has urged local child care operators, educators and parents to have their say on how they think red tape in the sector can be reduced and the quality of care and education can be improved.

Mr Joyce said the Coalition Government’s review of the National Quality Framework will assess whether the NQF is delivering on its objectives to reduce regulatory burden whilst also improving quality standards.

“Labor promised its rule changes would only lead to fee increases of 57 cents a week but the evidence suggests it’s more like $5 to $20 per day,” Mr Joyce said.

“Labor couldn’t be trusted and it continues to show disdain with its economic recklessness,” he said.

“The Abbott Government is committed to high-quality child care and we’re asking people for their views on how to help make a better system.”

Submissions for the review close on Friday, 4 July.
