Joyce: NBN footprint expansion at Guyra

24 Mar 2014

HOMES, farms and businesses at Guyra will benefit from the turning on of fixed wireless facilities the Federal Member for New England Barnaby Joyce said.

Mr Joyce said Guyra residents were encouraged to visit www.nbnco.com.au/rollout/rollout-map to find out if they were included in the coverage footprint.

“The fixed wireless network can bring better broadband to the bush,” Mr Joyce said.

“For decades rural and regional Australia has been left behind as telecommunications have developed,” he said.

“The fixed wireless service is designed to provide access to internet speeds and bandwidth that many in the big cities currently take for granted.

“The NBN also means you can get the whole family on line at once, opening up opportunities for local farms and businesses and the wider region to participate in the digital age.

“Fast broadband can help deliver improved access to health, education and entertainment over high quality video links.”

Mr Joyce said the expansion of the NBN would soon benefit people who lived near or in Gilgai, the surrounds of Inverell and Auburn Vale with physical construction beginning of three new fixed wireless installations.

He said the construction phase of a fixed wireless installation would take about 12 months before the service would be available.
