Construction begins for fixed wireless tower at Invergowrie

FEDERAL Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce said construction work had begun on a fixed wireless facility that would deliver fast broadband connections to the residents of the locality of Invergowrie, just west of Armidale.

Mr Joyce said the Invergowrie facility was part of an expansion that would add more than 2,200 farms, homes and businesses outside metropolitan areas to the fixed wireless fast broadband network.

“Families in rural and regional communities will benefit from the increased internet speed,” Mr Joyce said.

He said the increased speed would improve access to e-health resources, online education, teleworking opportunities and entertainment on demand.

“NBN provides access to internet speeds and capacity that many in the big cities take for granted,” he said.
