Labor’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) has claimed its first scalp with the announcement today that Cement Australia is mothballing its Rockhampton facility. Thirty one employees of the plant will be affected by today’s catastrophic announcement.
Clearly what we have been saying all along has happened as demonstrated by today’s statement from Cement Australia which says that any long term prospects for workers at their Rockhampton plant have been undermined due to the proposed introduction of Labor’s CPRS.
Labor’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme is an immoral process resulting in a complete imbalance with working families losing their jobs because of a ridiculous scheme which will do absolutely nothing to change the climate.
It is quite apparent that Labor’s ‘CP’ in the CPRS stands for Labor’s ‘Cunning Plan’ to force a double dissolution and the ‘RS’ is what happens to the economy in the process.
Unfortunately the employees at Cement Australia in Rockhampton are now living the reality of Labor’s CPRS.

Dear Barnaby,
Congratulations for your reasoned and scientific position on Human Induced Climate Change, rejecting the Labour ETS in total.
As you well know, there is no scientific evidence to support the crazy Labour ( and Liberal..) ETS. The cement industry is only one of a myriad of business sectors which will be severely impacted by an ETS - which will do nothing to assist with the superstition of man induced climate change...
We need the public to understand the gross deception being practised by Rudd, Wong, the IPCC, Obama, etc, etc. This is a world scale con, we have never seen such a hysterical behaviour on such a massive scale..
The blatant political drive to socially engineer this country with flawed wealth re-distribution policies must be opposed at every level

Best wishes for your challenging days ahead in the Senate, when this horredous legislation is represented. Hope that the Liberal Party will awaken and change direction to soley reject an ETS at this time in history when the planet is actually cooling and has been doing so since 1998..Time will pass and we all will remember the fools who rushed this process thru..
With best regards,
Greg Harrison.

Just a further note to draw the attention of the public to the Wong Carbon Price which appears in the Garnaut Report - $25/mt...Obama is talking about a starting price of $10.00 /mt...no wonder why Labour wants to get this thru in advance of Copenhagen...The ETS process must be stalled at least until a world consensus is reached on a workable Carbon price...assuming that China & India, etc will participate...We emit just 1% of the CO2 going into the atmosphere, the biosphere emits >60 %, man emits perhaps 20 -30 %....just do the maths and see the futility of the Labour ETS.
Wake up Australia - once this gets in, it will never be repealed...remember Beasley's vacant promise to roll-back the GST....still untouched by Labour.

Keep up the good work on this one Barnaby. All senators in Queensland should be standing firm against this and not relying on a few.

This new tax (thats all it is) will affect Queensland more than any other state.

No other legislation that I can recall has the potential to alter the Australian Lifestyle in a manner that will affect us all, especially if you are on a fixed income or pension. Our senators owe it to future generations of this country to oppose this bill.
The Carbon Trade Bill if expanded will affect every aspect of our life. Where we live, what job we can have, what we eat (when methane is added) right down to how many children we are allowed to have. The scheme resembles a tap or vice which will continue to tighten until all or most of the things we take for granted are gone.
