Anzac Day….. Just the name stirs our emotions.

One need only observe the increasing number of Australians who undertake the pilgrimage to Gallipoli each year to gauge the significance of this battle on our national psyche. No other event has had such an enormous impact on so many of our fellow Australians. It personifies who we are.

I urge all Australians to attend an Anzac Day service tomorrow and focus on the wonderful country we now live in thanks to the selfless efforts of young Australian and New Zealand soldiers. These young people, no different to the young apprentice mechanic down at the local auto dealer or the young student recently graduated from university, have enabled us to enjoy the characteristically Australian notion of our nationalism today.

So, first thing tomorrow morning, get out there. Attend a dawn service; participate in a parade; make your way to the local RSL. Share some time with the great men and women who have represented our country so gallantly for so many years.
