“It’s interesting to hear Mr Rudd’s latest proclamation about indigenous health and closing the gap. Sure, it’s a noble gesture but if I hear the word decisive from Mr Rudd one more time I think we will all be violently ill.”
“Mr Rudd refers to decisive action as taking one generation to fix the problem, there’s nothing decisive about that. It’s a motherhood statement which he can never be held to account.” according to Senator Barnaby Joyce.
“If Mr Rudd wants to be fair dinkum and do something that’s really effective, he should show some political strength and start fixing the problem tomorrow as stated by Mr Abbott.”
“If he wants to make sure that people attend school he’ll need to be fair dinkum about truancy.”
“Mr Rudd, have you shown any sign that you are fair dinkum about truancy in indigenous communities?”
“If Mr Rudd wants to be able to bring a sense of family back to communities, who are suffering from social problems, he’ll have to initiate the removal of alcohol, pornography, drugs and other anti social impediments.”
“Mr Rudd, have you instigated any program to do that?”
“Economic development is at the core of all issues but Mr Rudd and his Labor State colleagues persist with such programs as wild rivers and other environmental guidelines that completely inhibit economic growth.”
“Mr Rudd, have you insisted that something should be done about that?”
“Mr Rudd has been to indigenous communities that are completely removed from the social infrastructure that are in the major cities, but they are on the same tax rate.”
“What incentive has Mr Rudd suggested to be implemented in the forthcoming Henry tax review?”
“In any case Mr Rudd has now laid down the gauntlet and this is simply yet another occasion where I suppose all we can do is sit back and hold him to account.”
“However I can see this going the same way as all of Mr Rudd’s other broken promises stacked in the corner with the obesity program, the hospital program, the fuel program the 20/20 forum etc, etc.”
