This week in politics

26

On what is obviously a big issue day in the media Mr Rudd has reneged on a big promise, said Senator Barnaby Joyce, the Leader of the Nationals in the Senate.

“He promised he was going to do something to assist with the pressure working families have with grocery prices,” said Senator Joyce.

“Choice was about to launch the Grocery Choice website and from the display that they brought to my office in Parliament House this week their website format was 1000 miles ahead of what was previously developed by the Rudd Government.
“Maybe it was too good and was going to work.

“The new Competition and Consumer Affairs Minister Craig Emerson has taken the call, closed it down and dribbled out some pathetic excuse.

“So Minister Emerson, why did you do this and why did you do it today and why did you do it so we could not ask any questions in the Parliament? Aren’t you strong enough to stand up to the major retailers?

“It would be fascinating to check out your plan B. I suspect there isn’t one.”
