The Keep Australia Australian television advertisements hit the screens this week but you won't be seeing them any more in Queensland until after Saturday's election.
Free TV, is an industry body which represents all of Australia's commercial free-to-air television licencees, and which is the industry body that controls the ads that are screened on television.
They have told me: "The Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (BSA), provides that election matter cannot be aired during the media advertising blackout period which commences midnight on Wednesday before polling day and ends at the close of polls on polling day. To do so is a breach of licence conditions for broadcasters.
"Election matter in relation to an election includes matter commenting on, stating or indicating any of the matters being submitted to the electors at the election or any part of the policy of a candidate at the election or of the political party to which a candidate at the election belongs.
"As candidates in the election have publicly stated positions on the issues referred to in the Keep Australia Australian advertisements in the context of the Queensland election, Free TV has formed the view that the advertisements are election matter under the BSA. The advertisement may air in Queensland after the conclusion of the blackout period ie after close of polls on Saturday night."
You can always watch them on my website and send the link to all your friends.
