Senator Joyce is currently in Sydney for the Senate’s Economics Committee Inquiry into Fuelwatch and he will be a voting member of the Economics Committee Inquiry into Fuelwatch tomorrow.

Senator Joyce today said, “These questions in regards to the operations of Fuelwatch and the position of Pat Walker, the Fuelwatch Commissioner, have become passé this afternoon as Mr Walker has been rescued from his fate by his Labor party friends in the Western Australian government.

“This is a further indication of the farce of the Fuelwatch scheme and the compete lack of technical ability that the Labor party display in handling complex issues.

“Their reliance is on rhetoric over effect, and their continuing belief is that the whole of Australia is a fool for their circus of bells and whistles.

“The Fuelwatch scheme is a farce and Mr Walker knew it was a farce. The modelling was a joke. The outcomes were improbable, ideological and unprovable. And it is an indictment of, as well as being a reflection of, the Labor party’s capacity to deal with one of their major election commitments which was to reduce the price of fuel.”
