“The Labor Party’s decision to dismantle the Single Desk for wheat is an unfortunate loss of one of our greatest marketing advantages in overseas markets where 60% of volume is purchased by Single Desk buyers. This advantage has been traded away; what for? Nothing.

“I am sure the good Republican and Democrat Senators of the mid-west of the United States will be lighting candles in front of a Kevin Rudd shrine and the EU must be rolling on the ground laughing that we have given up one of our greatest strategic marketing advantages for not so much as a second hand tea bag.

“This goes on the back of Labor’s move to water down the conditions of the intervention in the Northern Territory and Mr Rudd has not even picked his Cabinet yet.” Senator Joyce said.
