Senator Joyce, today, called for a strong commitment to the development of inland rail on standard gauge from Gladstone to Perth.
"In delivering a vision for the future we must look at transport which delivers produce effectively to our ports for the wealth of our nation. This delivery mechanism must be the most efficient, environmentally friendly and economically sustainable.
"A rail network from Australia's fastest growing port, proximate to our largest coal resources, via our largest grain growing areas, connecting our largest population centres, developing inland areas, taking pressure off coastal roads and reducing carbon emissions from heavy transport is a great idea which has to become a reality for the future of our country.
"I commend the efforts by Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile and private organisations headed by such as Everald Compton in developing this vision from an idea to a reality to be delivered to the Australian people in the next term of government.
"These are the visions that make a difference. These are the manifestation of a strong economy going forward." Senator Joyce said.
