Queensland Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce has welcomed news reports today that Federal Government money is likely to be provided to build the long-awaited second crossing of the Toowoomba Range.
"One of the first places I visited after my election to the Senate was Toowoomba and the first issue brought up was the Range Crossing.
"It is an absolute pleasure today to be part of the Government that will deliver the funds required to see this project come to fruition.
"It is also great to see it happen in the first term of being a Senator for Queensland and coming from the southern Queensland area.
"This road will bring a vital link between the inland and the south east.
"The Toowoomba range has been a bottleneck that has stymied both the flow of goods and the flow of people across the range and as such has been an inhibitor of growth for Toowoomba and west.
"This project not only means that we concentrate on growth north-south in Queensland along the coast but east-west to the outback.
"It is great reward for a huge amount of effort over a long time to see this project finally get funded.
"Hopefully the best reward will be the accidents it stops."
