Senator Joyce has welcomed President Bush’s plan to replace a portion of imported oil with renewable energies such as ethanol.
“The list of countries endorsing the greater use of ethanol is increasing day by day. President Bush has clearly laid down the path for an ethanol industry in the US and is leading the way to replace imported oil with renewable energies, I just hope we follow.” Senator Joyce said.
“We had the chance to lead on this issue some years ago but that chance has passed; do we know something the US doesn’t in relation to renewable energy?
“Now the chance to lead has passed we just have to make sure we don’t get left behind and expose the Australian motorists to an over reliance on a diminishing, vulnerable resource.
“As a member of a Senate Inquiry into Petrol Pricing I examined evidence, first hand, which indicates the benefits to all Australians of a renewable energy industry and will continue to work hard to ensure a better future for Australian motorists” Senator Joyce added.
