Following a Coalition Party Room meeting late yesterday afternoon, Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce, was heartened that serious debate surrounding alternative fuels including ethanol had become the centre of discussion for Coalition Members and Senators.
“On behalf of all Australia we have to deal with this issue and get ethanol out there on the market in a substantial way to bring down the current price of fuel.
“The Nationals have been pursuing this course for years and if we had started earlier it would have been better, but lets get into it now, with or without the oil companies blessing.
“The Treasurer’s announcement this morning that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will be monitoring E10 sales and the differential between E10 and unleaded prices, is a clear indication the Nationals are making headway on alternative fuels,” he said.
