This week in politics

20

You don’t borrow money to build a tennis court whilst there are untreated white ants in your house. You fix the problem and you don’t waste money on an extravagance. The Labor party’s desire to continue on with the NBN, whilst Queensland Rail, as just one example of many, tells us it will take months to get the lines between Emerald and Rockhampton up and running is economically libellous in its negligence. We have to make sure our major export is going full steam ahead and that the agricultural products are arriving quickly back on the shelves if we have any long term hope of getting on top of these problems.

Then there are others, such as Mr Windsor, saying we shouldn’t worry about surpluses because that is just something created by “politicians”. Well, another thing that has been created by “politicians” is the NBN and how you can believe that downloading movies faster is better than getting the economy back up and running is beyond me. If we don’t get a surplus, then we cannot start to pay back the debt. The gross debt is currently $178 billion.

If we had not put all the money up against the wall with profligate ideas such as ceiling insulation, school halls and $900 cheques for imported electrical goods, we might actually have some money put aside for a rainy day, as the old and very wise saying goes. However, we are run by a crowd who waste money, and now they are desperately scratching around so that we can get the basic fundamentals of our economy up and running again.

Here we are in the midst of a national calamity, which is the floods and, so help me, they are going to borrow the money and put it on the credit card to build a telephone network when we already have a telephone network. At this point in time, it is probably one of the only things still working to near its full capacity.

Couldnt agree more. Queensland & Victoria both will need assistance. Not the assistance, that in another 12 months time we are still talking about people waiting, to get back on track and the economy up and running again.
National disaster, we need Action right now. What do you expect though from this Labor Government/Windsor/Oakeshott/Brown. How do we get rid of them and Now.

Oh well, this is just a case of "same old ... same old" Labor method of sabotaging the Australian economy and putting our autonomy and independent sovereignty at further risk.

When the time is right, they hope to pass power to the Greens to really screw us over at a global level.

But here is some good news! Lots of people are very tired of Labor selling us out via every possible avenue and at the same time, they hate the recividist agendas of communist Greens.

This means that the more patriotic parties are recruiting members at a phenomenal rate, and the unions are rejecting Labor politicians who grossly neglect essential infrastructure programs and fail to listen to the needs of workers.

Behind the scenes, you can bet the National Executives of Labor/Greens are rubbing their hands together with glee at the enormous thumping the floods have given to small business people, graziers, farmers, ordinary citizens and more importantly, THE AUSTRALIAN ECONOMY.

When they forge ahead with the NBN, they are no doubt working on a plan to exercise Information Control on the people, and to block their opponents from the blogosphere.

I'm sure they find their communist agendas far more financially rewarding than prioritising drought/flood mitigation programs across the country.

When the TV cameras caravan moves on the urgency to repair Queensland will deminish, as it always has done in the past. It is important when Parliament resumes that the LNP stay on the heels of the Gillard government, like a blue heeler, and make these proven fools accountable for bringing Queensland back to what it was prior to the floods.

A flood tax is not the answer, repair of infrastructure is. Besides doesn't Labor/Greens want to hit us with a carbon tax as well ?

Get rid of the NBN : now there's a start in the right diirection.

The wasteful expenditure was to make people feel good, however many are facing a much larger electricity bill than before and it was struggle street that often did not factor in the on going costs.
As to the floods of river dams are better than on river dams. What is the lay of the land around St George as it may be a good site for an off river dam. We have one in Newcastle - Grahamstown Dam.
Is the plan for a levee because the PM knows that QLD Gov. is responsible for retaining 187% capacity in the dam. Slow early release would have been a thing and levels would have been meters lower. Pressure is on the insurance companies because the gov wants them to pay quickly so investigations will not cripple the government. The levee is insurance after the fact and it is hoped that the people will be great full that gov aid is being prepared. The slippery slope of a new tax to deal with a future is shaping up.
Retirement tax absorbed with restrictions on pensions.
Dole tax absorbed with now restrictions on benefits for the unemployed
The bicentenial road tax is it absorbed in to fuel tax?
The 3x3 tax in NSW is still there.
I am sure there are many others.
How long will plans be made to consolidate this proposed tax of another name.
I could go on but will restrict the urge.
Yours in good faith

What I would like to know is how we are able to afford to give Indonesia $500 million for schools for Islamic students and $45 million for weather study or some such idiocy. Who voted for such a thing when we have our own distaters that the government promises a pittance of funds for assistance.
What happened to the $1 billion that John Howard donated to the tsunami victims. Did they ever receive that money or has most of it lined the pockets of the corrupt officials in Indonesia?

It seems to me that the Indonesians are constantly putting their hands out to Australia for assistance and then laughing in our faces. Just look at the perpertrators of the Bali bombings. The person behind the whole episode gets off with a slap on the wrist for the carnage and deaths caused, and yet we are now going to be supplying him with the funds to train more of these terrorists.

I shudder to think where this country is heading!!!!

Graham Sherwood:

I suggest you read the Lima Declaration and Plan of Action on Industrial Development and Co-operation (1975) signed by Gough Whitlam (Labor).

Then read Agenda 21 (1992) signed by Paul Keating (Labor).

Please think how these international agreements are being used to screw over our economy, and you will have the answer to at least some of your questions.

The ALP has locked us into a worldwide redistribution of populations and wealth, which is driving the real value of wages down, kicking our farmers/graziers and small business people in the guts, throwing taxpayers' money away and allowing large global corporations to collect revenue that was once collected for the benefit of the Australian people.

The World Trade Organisation now decides what we have to import and export, thanks also to Paul Keating.

In the future we can expect our financial resources to be redistributed to the third world by The Greens. That's right! A vote for the ALP is a vote for The Greens!

Barnaby, Qld still owns 40% of Q.R. The asset is useless as a holding they have no control I understand and the firm intention is to sell it. So why doesn't the Federal Government buy the 40% that way Qld State Labor get rid of an irritating asset and get cash to fix up road and rail lines without the shadow of Q.R. around their neck. As it stands at present quite a few trucking interests could accuse Qld State of holding back their business becasue they want to keep the share price up for Q.R. by getting it back on the rail lines quickly. There will be questions of predujice against road transport because of this share holding so sell it to the Feds and then they have an asset to sell later to recoup some costs. All done without a levy!!

If you want to see some trucks come here and see 5 kms backed up every day because State Labor have taken 20 years to finally realise there is only one way in and out of Toowoomba. If it was the Sydney harbour Bridge there would someone lynched by now which is Day 18 and still no announcement from the Prime Minister or Premier as to when the edict of all residents of Toowoomba region on travel by car anywhere for essential needs. This is 2011 not 1711.
