Queensland Nationals Senator, Barnaby Joyce, was pleased to hear of a $10 million funding arrangement for the widening of the Bruce Highway through Gympie following the delivery of the Federal Budget last night.
The funding will provide for the expansion of the existing highway from two to four lanes, relieving congestion and improving safety along what has become a busy arterial road in recent years.
“I was recently made aware of the congestion along this stretch of the Bruce Highway by our Nationals’ candidate for Gympie, Dave Gibson, who is keen to see this stretch of highway upgraded,” Senator Joyce said.
“I have just now heard that Mr Gibson was informed by my office of the announcement and was very pleased to hear the good news,” Senator Joyce said.
“The Nationals are always on the front foot when it comes to infrastructure and our constant lobbying in Canberra has obviously paid off,” he said.
A little further south, $5.4 million is also being provided to increase road safety and efficiency at Black Mountain.
