This week in politics

05

Peter Spencer has said in a radio interview on day 44 of his hunger strike that he is not feeling too bad but his determination to continue not to eat is causing distress. While supporters will him on in his fight for justice the human side of his course of action means it will end in one way and that is not a good outcome.

There have been calls for Peter to be forcibly removed from his Tower of Hope. This adds to the distress surrounding the situation. I have climbed the tower and asked him to end his hunger strike. At the Canberra rally yesterday I urged him again to climb down.

Peter knows we are going to fight this issue right through but we need him to be fighting with us, not inspiring as a memory.

The Prime Minister has time to write a book for children and but he needs to make some time to listen to what the Australian people are saying. They are starting to say they have had enough of being signed up to international agreements where the Prime Minister gets the kudos or the happy clapping in Bali or some conference. The bill has been sent straight to working families, the bill is coming home to the family farm.

This problem exists because the Government has stolen farmers’ assets and that is obscene when the Government becomes a thief. This action has another name and without being too dramatic that is communism.

With Australia’s Federal debt approaching $120 billion there is not much in the kitty to compensate farmers so the alternative is to revisit the native vegetation laws. If you can’t pay for it, you should give it back.

Hello Barnaby, hope you had a bit of a holiday over Xmas,

Rudd wont give it back because he must uphold The Great Lie ! AGW.
Beside that the carbon Traders would not like him any more.
In kind of a spot is Mr Rudd, but thats what happens when you lie.
As I used to tell my kids,
"You cant make a fool of an honest man, "
Rudd is anything but honest,

I have sent a letter to Rudd and told him he should be bloody well ashamed of himself. When I read about Peter Spencer and the incredible injustices he has endured I myself am ashamed to call myself Australian. What the bloody hell is going on in this country?

Thanks Barnaby, for meeting with Peter Spencer, again. And we agree that his time "up the pole" should now finish, as his health is suffering. As Australians, we DO NEED to change our outlook on these "UN agreements", and KEEP RIGHT OUT OF THEM" The UN is a toothless tiger, that doesn't get in there, and solve situations, in the worn=torn areas, such as Sudan. Also, They are all for trying to have multi-culturlism, which does not work, as we see in Britian, particularly. So we should have nothing to do with them.
Please keep up the good work with Peter Spencer, and we would love the Liberals to show their colours on this. Don and Rae Munro, Dalby.

When I read your posts and comments from your "fan base" I too am ashamed to call myself Australian.

Lemon, you are ignorant in your views. When will you realise that Australia is part of the globe? Fundamental freedoms are not just extended to Australians, but to ALL people - and if we believe in these freedoms we must do what is right to uphold them and deliver them to others. If this means capping our own emissions to assist others then so be it. And if this means the restriction of land use then so be it.

One more thing - you really need to get people to edit your posts prior to publishing them.

I truly hope that once you "retire" from politics you obtain a diplomatic post in Siberia - or somewhere even further from this country. Seriously mate, you are a lemon, and the biggest disgrace to this country.

How dare the Australian Government do this to a struggling farmer. This action equates to land acquisition, for which as long I can remember compensation is paid. Best of luck Peter. Ruddy this is an Un-Australian act.

Well possibly communism might be a good description but I would prefer
faciscim... Primary industries are the basis for any civilized country. Admittedly
in Australia we have abused the land use but we are learning to treat it with more respect.

I don't like the Greens ideas of sequestration of forests (that can be used for
agricultural land) although - I think farmers should be given carbon credits
for healthy pasture lands. Forget forests as such... only young growing trees
use up more carbon... but soil whether it is pasture lands or not, if healthy
contains 60% of carbon sink globally... We can't dictate how land owners use their land... we need to suggest they use it well though, but in Peter
Spencer's case, he should be compensated.

It is a going concern internationally, that countries like Brazil and Ecuador are now being invested in to preserve their rain forests, rather than cut them down rather than to make provision for oil production, or the like to help maintain their country's economy's potential, but also preserve global carbon sink provisions. Why not in Australia also.

There is a lot of bullshit about Climate Change. However, to survive we must work within the parameters the natural environment offers and in Australia we have a very volatile natural climate, but so long as we have water and a few more Centrigrades will not harm us, it is the Northern Hemisphere who will suffer if the natural cycle of climate turns into a mini ice-age. We'll be OK in the Southern Hemisphere. We have to be self sufficient in food production for the amount of the population we contain.

But are water conservation on the land and in the cities must be reviewed.

Australia has so many micro climates and environmental areas, we are flooded
and then have droughts. We must contain and sustain our primary industries as our manufacturing industries are now sent off shore.

Look I've been a subscriber to Reader's Digest for three decades, now my
calls are shifted to Manilla. But I want my chickens, lamb and beef bred
in New England thank you very much. And my vegetables grown in Australia.

Hi Barnaby and a happy and healthy New Year.

I also have sent a email to Rudd sounding my absolute disgust at the specific treatment of Peter, and many other farmers and landowners at the hands of the State and Fed Govn.
Ive also added comments from my 85yr old father (he is a retired farmer).
He helped stop the invasion of this country in New Guinea in WW2.
He is now asking "WHY."? when our own people are destroying us and our way of life, from within.!!
The Fed govn can casually hand over millions of $$$$ to anyone "who looks like a refugee" ie c/link benefits, health cover for life, and yet they are telling us they dont have enough money to pay for "stolen land" !!
Most people want to continue to farm their land or hand it to the next generation...ie they are employed ,unlike most of the above.
Then there is the huge properties they have bought back through "water licensing"..needless to say these areas have been in flood since. .more wasted money.!!
This country has nooooo foresight and is demonstrated right throughout our public service sector today.

Quote : "If it doesnt affect me personally ..I dont want to know" !!

Barnaby, many people are relying on you and the Opposition lifting us out of the deep disappoinment that we are all feeling at present.
Best Wishes.

What an insulting man you are Alex Devine. You need to do a lot more reading and brush up on your manners. Please don't bother to write in to this post again. Go and find some left wing sheepie place to write your poison. Barnaby, you are doing a great job. I hope you can help Peter and all of the other farmers who have had their land criminally taken by successive Governments.
The Australian public are starting to wake up to the "great lie" being perpetuated in regard to carbon sinks. The farmers have been almost destroyed financially, mentally and emotionally by this dreadful plan. Yet the big polluters are gaining the benefit. An honest Govt would have dismantled this plan as a first priority, not behind writing a childrens book (no doubt very political) cooking up hot dogs or going to the cricket. When you raise this in Parliament, it will be seen as a litmus test for both the Govt, the Liberal Party, the Independents and the Greens. The people will know who are the traitors if the Parliament votes down any help for our farmers and ultimately this wonderful? country of ours.

Hi Barnaby - please keep up the good work. It is about time we got someone in the political scene that will speak up for those who don't seem to matter.
Is it true that the ETS will pass when parliament re sits in Feb. I guess the government will give what ever the greens want to get it passed. How can we get them to listen to the people.
What can we do.

I am worried about Peter Spencer, and i barely even know the guy. I don't have an awful lot to do with farming myself, or primary industry, so it would be obnoxious to even suggest that I understand what he and other farmers have experienced.
He seems incredibly strong, i know i'd probably be dead after two days without food, but it was awful to see the onset of fatigue and distress on his face, on news footage. I wish somehow he could be convinced that it is better to fight this battle alive than dead. He wont have lost my respect if he does end the hunger strike. In my eyes his strike would just be a preview of the battle to come. I would not consider it a failed hunger strike, but more so an absolute success in getting a nation to wake up and see what is really going on within this country.

I don't feel ashamed to call my self Australian, because in my opinion our prime minister is not an Australian, and I don't prescribe to his 'ideals'.

We do need Peter to be here for the fight. We need Mr Rudd to stop robbing the working Australian families. Can we have a rally in Brisbane, Rudd's home town or even in every capital city with farmers on Tractors and trucks or whatever it takes to get the ordinary Australian to wake up to the erosion of our rights?

Please what can we do to win this and save the man's life?

Barnaby,

Can you please explain this to us. It seems rather hypocritcal for you to be jumping up and down about the terrible state this farmer finds himself in when you were part of the cause of this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Government Officially Now Own “YOUR LAND”

Filed Under Private Land Issues, Farming-Rural, Radical Greens, Government

MOST URGENT MESSAGE FOR ALL AUSTRALIANS FROM LINDA HEWITT, STIRLING, ROMA, QLD 4455

On Thursday 3rd October 2007, the High Court of Australia made rulings over residential and rural land that effectively removes all land ownership from the people of Queensland and puts it squarely into the hands of our State Government. The court ruling that ‘fee simple’ and the ‘common law’ are now no longer recognised in Queensland means we no longer are part of the Commonwealth and no longer have ownership or say in our land, that Queensland is a separate entity that can make its own laws.

WE HAVE WRITTEN TO THE GOVERNOR, PRIME MINISTER AND ALL MPs IN AUSTRALIA AND ARE STILL AWAITING AN EXPLANATION. WE URGE YOU TO DO THE SAME! THUS FAR ONLY MR RUDD’S OFFICE ASKED TO ‘MAKE YOUR CONCERNS KNOWN’.

Please contact: Governor General of Australia - governor-general@gg.gov.au fax (02) 6281 3760; Prime Minister of Australia the Hon John Howard, (02) 6277 7700, Fax: (02) 6273 4100 or electorate office (02) 9816 1300, (02) 9816 1349;

Governor of Queensland (07) 3858 5701, fiona.collins@govhouse.qld.gov.au; Leader of the Opposition Mr Kevin Rudd, info@cbr.alp.org.au ; Premier of Queensland Anna Bligh thepremier@premiers.qld.gov.au Since the court rulings affect our land values and ability to borrow we urge you to contact The Australian Bankers Association at aba@afmaservices.com - Attn Mr David Bell.

EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO APPEAL TO THE SOVEREIGN: To advise Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of the situation with our land in Queensland - email the prewritten letter with your name and address on it to the Privy Council in England, Her Majesty will be notified. Email judicial.committee@pco.x.qsi.gov.uk.

This is not a conspiracy theory.

This is not our personal opinion.

This is all FACT, and can be found written in black and white in the law books of Australia and in the continually-being-reprinted Constitution of Queensland.

The Commonwealth has been watching this for the last 9 years. Our federal government has known what is going on and has condoned it by their silence. They have been watching Beattie and seeing if the Australia people will wake up to it. Mr Rudd said recently on TV that he ‘was going to fix the Federation’ if elected! We hope he does the right thing! Those of us who have been working on this information, especially those within the legal profession, have been shocked and angry at the blatant removal of peoples’ rights without one politician seeming to stand up and warn the people.

In Queensland, this started with the National Party then the Labour Party quickly enforced all the changes possible. When Peter Beattie removed the Constitution of Queensland in 2001 and replaced it with the New Qld Constitution, all the politicians in Parliament House passed and applauded the ‘new regime’.

This has also happened in NSW, and if we had the time and the resources, we would also look at the Constitutions of every other State in this country.

YOUR LAND HAS BECOME COLLATERAL

Your land, in Queensland, is being used as ‘collateral’ by the government. It is now THE STATE’S wealth base. We also know the situation is the same in NSW in the Peter Spencer case. You can read about that case on this internet link: http://www.abc.net.au/landline/content/2005/s1371225.htm

QLD STATE TAKES ALL POWER TO ITSELF!

Governor removed, and placed into the Qld Parliament: Under the new Constitution of Queensland 2001 there has been a dramatic shift. Public servants are now servants of the State, not the Crown, which represents the people. If you don’t believe this, please do your own research.

The Governor General is now a mere parliamentary secretary to the Premier who conducts the daily business of the corporation of the State. See Section 92 Constitution of Queensland 2001.INCLUDING THE COURTS!

The common law has been removed from the Supreme Court Act 1995 which now follows the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules. Under our constitutional monarchy system the Governor is the Queen or Sovereign or Crown’s representative in each state, put there to protect you from incorrect or illegal governing. This is called the “Separation of Powers”, and means that the Queen as our Sovereign had a separate protective person in place, just in case you, the people, got ‘ripped off’ by your governing bodies.

The Governor in Queensland was removed from that ‘no party allegiance’ position and given a position INSIDE the Queensland Government, thereby effectively putting the Governor under the Premier’s control. ALL politicians knew what was happening when this took place.OUR STATE IS NOW A CORPORATION It is called

The Government Corporation, or the ‘Brigalow Corporation’.

The Queensland Government is no longer a governing body, but instead made itself a business corporation. Just read the letter heads on paperwork you receive from any State office. They called the new business of governing the land of the people of Queensland the “Brigalow Corporation” under which all the land in our state has been removed from our ownership ‑ to be used as collateral for this corporation?

STRIPPED OF OUR FEE SIMPLE RIGHTS!“Fee simple” is the term used to describe your ownership of your freehold land. It is your total right to name yourself as the owner and user of that land, and the ‘Crown’ or the ‘Sovereign’ or the ‘Queen’ has deeded that land to you when you paid for it. It is a legal right to do whatever you want with your land, without interference from anyone else, including governments. But now, even to repair or maintain property requires a permit (see Wilson v Raddatz and Glasgow v Hall). Judge McPherson in the Queensland Court of Appeal (Bone v Mothershaw) commented: We have been “stripped of virtually all the powers which make ownership of land of any practical utility or value.”

STATES CANNOT MAKE THEIR OWN RULES!T

he Constitution of Australia is the ‘guidebook’ on how the people of Australia are to be governed. The Constitutions of each of the States is subordinate to the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution and each State cannot make its own rules about our Common Law rights without our permission via referendum. If they do so, they are actually destroying these laws and leaving us undefended, unprotected and ungoverned democratically. That is EXACTLY what is happening here.

Do not sit back – please defend yourselves and all that you thought you safely owned in Australia, including your freedom. If you have any problems you may contact me at the below mentioned telephone number or David Walter on 07) 4096 3009 or samara.butterfly@bigpond.com or Sue Maynes on 02) 6345 1254 or email sue.maynes@bigpond.com.

Good onya for visiting him Barnaby.

From what I see, Peter's character & resolve on this matter is no trivial matter. I don't believe he's bluffing. He's my primary concern!

Rural productivity will be a key factor to get us out of this economic mess.

Mineral commodity prices are inflating, O/S students are fleeing our Uni's, we've got virtually no manufacturing to speak of and the national obsession with housing has just robbed investment from the business sector without generating $1 of true growth!

Paying some attention to the solution to the nation's problems (i.e. farmers) may start the Govt on it's way to solving the problem rather than making it worse by flogging them yet again.

Dear Barnaby,
If you want to grab the snake by the tail prepare to be bitten. Your appauling attempts to appeal to the electorate by evoking fear and loathing towrads your enemies instead of encouraging rational and long term thinking to problems has come back to haunt you on the "man up the mast" story. Along with all the other opportunists you jumped into the fiasco to get some cheap and nasty publicity but as the pole sitter's family has pointed out the issue is to do with a disturbed man and his family. As the Australian article points out none of you did your homework you just jumped at the chance to use someone's problems to your own advantage. If you and your coalition partners are going to continue to take this popularist route up to the elections you run the real risk of ending up being an impotent, irrational outdated rump rather than the sharp and insightful opposition this country is crying out for.

Mr Maley,
Isn't it incredible. The Australian has completely ignored Peter's story now for 47 days. Then when the pressure is really mounting on Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to meet with Peter Spencer the Australian comes out with a FRONT PAGE story that is an incredible muck rake that goes so low as to rake up things that happened 40 years ago.

So now not only will the Nations Newspaper not run stories of National interest, but when those stories escalate to the point that it will damage the Prime Minister, some very important and powerful politicians and business interests (i.e the Coal industry), The Australian comes out of hiding and attempts to discredit Peters whole campaign with personal attacks.

This stinks to high heaven in my opinion!

DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO CONSCIENCE WHATSOEVER???????????

Mr Maley,
No family is PERFECT - is yours?
Mr Spencer's family history is not the issue here.
Irrespective of what his family history is, that does not alter the fact that he and many many other farmers in Australia have been BETRAYED and UNJUSTLTY TREATED by government.
Besmurching Peter Spencer's character with his past family history is only a tactic used to divert attention away from the REAL PROBLEM.
This type of tactic is worthy of CHAIRMAN RUDD!
SHAMEFUL AND DESPICABLE!
Where is your paper's investigative journalism in uncovering the REAL story of what is being done to Australian Farmers?

World Bank President Admits Agenda For Global Government
=====================================

World Bank President and Bilderberg elitist Robert Zoellick openly admitted the plan to eliminate national sovereignty and impose a global government during a speech on the eve of the G20 summit.

Speaking about the agenda to increase not just funding but power for international organizations on the back of the financial crisis, Zoellick stated, “If leaders are serious about creating new global responsibilities or governance, let them start by modernising multilateralism to empower the WTO, the IMF, and the World Bank Group to monitor national policies.”

In other words, give global institutions the power to regulate national policy as part of the creation of global government.

What Zoellick is outlining is essentially the end of national sovereignty and the reclassification of national governments as mere subordinates to a global authority that is completely unaccountable to the voting public of any country.

The more cynical amongst us would call this a global dictatorship. Zoellick couches the plan in flowery rhetoric of helping the poor and alleviating poverty, but as we have documented for years, the global elite’s goal of world government has little to do with saving the planet and everything to do with creating a global fascist state.

Zoellick, former Executive Vice President of Fannie Mae and advisor to Goldman Sachs, is a top elitist who was intimately involved in the Enron scandal and the 2000 presidential election debacle. He was also a signatory to the Project For A New American century document that called for invading Iraq as part of implementing a brutal world empire in 1998. He was later a foreign policy advisor to George W. Bush.

As to be expected, Zoellick is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission. He also attended the annual invitation-only conferences of the Bilderberg Group in 1991, 2003, 2006 and 2007.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will use the G20 summit in London to extend an olive branch to China, offering them a central role in the construction of a new world order and a global government, according to reports.

“Brown will hold talks with Hu Jintao, China’s president, following discussions with Barack Obama, amid signs that developing countries see the G20 summit as a chance to impose a new world order and end the era of Anglo-European dominance,” reports the Guardian.

Under the proposal, China will vastly increase its IMF funding in return for more voting rights.

A central focus of the G20 summit will be the proposal to supplant the dollar with a new global currency. Both the IMF and the United Nations threw their weight behind the implementation of a new global reserve currency system to replace the dollar, in the same week that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told CFR globalists that he was “open” to the idea.

China and Russia brought the issue to the forefront of this week’s G20 when they jointly called for a new global reserve currency a week ago.

Brown has consistently called for global regulation of the financial system as a means towards global governance. In a speech at St Paul’s Cathedral in London yesterday he again called for a new “global society”.

I FOUND THIS AND THOUGHT THAT PEOPLE MIGHT FIND IT INTERESTING:-

Australian Climate Madness (ACM) Summary.

http://www.australianclimatemadness.com/?page_id=1008

Hopefully the points set out below may give some food for thought concerning climate change.

1. Introduction

For hundreds of years, scientific advancement has proceeded on the following basis: first, a theory is proposed to explain a particular natural phenomenon; secondly, that theory is used to make predictions about what may happen in the future; thirdly, the empirical observations are compared with those predictions; finally, if the observations match the predictions, it can be concluded that the theory accurately models the natural phenomenon. However, if they do not, or if a result is obtained at some point in the future that does not fit the theory, then the theory must be modified, new predictions made and new comparisons made with observations. This process will often go through many iterations.

However, when we come to the debate on climate change, the media and the government (and indeed many scientists) will say "the debate is over" or "the science is settled" and "we need to move on from the science and tackle with the problem."

But is this really the case? Is the science really settled? If that were in fact the case and the evidence was so compelling, why is it that climate scientists need to "massage" data? Why is it that scientists who promote the alarmist agenda refuse to debate the issues? Why won't Al Gore, responsible for the most popular climate change film An Inconvenient Truth, debate the claims raised in the film? [We know why, of course: many of them were just plain wrong.] Why are those who question the "consensus" often ostracised by their peers in the scientific community, silenced or even threatened? These are important questions to which answers should be sought.

Presently in Australia, the mainstream media and the Rudd government have closed their minds to any dissent from the "consensus" on climate change, namely that man-made emissions of carbon dioxide are causing dangerous global warming. The Rudd government will not entertain any debate on the science, preferring to simply rely on the pronouncements of the politically driven Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC - part of the UN), and insisting on enacting the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), a name intentionally chosen to mislead the public (it is the colourless, harmless gas carbon dioxide that is to be reduced, not elemental carbon in the form of soot, and it is not pollution). Similarly, the majority of the mainstream media has already made up its mind and only publishes articles which advance the agenda of dangerous global warming (see here for a textbook example of media bias).
IMPORTANT: We are not seeking to change anyone's mind.

All we seek to do is give readers the opportunity and the tools to find out more for themselves. If, after doing such research, readers are still convinced that AGW is real and dangerous, then at least they have been exposed to both sides of the story.

2. Key points on the science

* The earth's climate is always changing - it has for 4.5 billion years and will continue to do so - to speak of climate change as if it is something "new" is misleading.
* There is nothing particularly special about the climate we live in at the moment - it is very benign compared to some of the alternatives - but to attempt to stop the clock and "freeze" the present state is misguided.
* That the earth is currently in a long-term warming phase is not in dispute. It has been since the end of the last Ice Age, and in particular since the end of the Little Ice Age a couple of hundred years ago. It is therefore not surprising, nor alarming, that temperatures today are higher than they were a century ago.
* However, the cause of that warming is where the dispute arises.
* There is no historical link (on geological time scales) between the harmless gas carbon dioxide (CO2) and temperature. Levels of CO2 have been far higher (thousands of parts per million compared to a few hundred at present) in the past without the planet entering "runaway global warming" or passing "tipping points" from which it could not recover - the fact that we are here today is evidence enough of that.
* Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth showed a large graph of temperature and CO2 fitting together very closely, except that it was at such a small scale that it was not possible to determine that rises in CO2 actually lag behind rises in temperature (and vice versa) by about 800-1000 years. The long term warming and cooling of oceans releases and absorbs huge quantities of CO2.
* On shorter time-scales, temperatures rose in the early part of the 20th century with little or no man-made emissions of CO2.
* They also fell in the period 1950-1970 when CO2 emissions were rising rapidly in the post-war economic boom.
* The link between future global warming and CO2 is based predominantly on computer climate models.
* None of the computer models predicted the pause in warming (and even slight cooling) we have seen since 2001, despite rising emissions, so we must assume those models are flawed.
* There must be other factors at work, such as solar variations, cosmic ray variations, cloud cover, ocean currents etc, which have a far more significant effect on the climate than anthropogenic CO2 (which in any event is only a tiny part of the global CO2 budget)
* Every day, new peer-reviewed scientific studies change our understanding of the climate - to say the "science is settled" is pure hubris.
* The livelihood of many (most?) climate scientists depends on perpetuating the existence of the climate crisis, and there is presently a worrying lack of impartiality in this discipline.
* Studies are written with a pre-conceived agenda in mind, and the peer-review has, to an extent, been corrupted - in other words, alarmist papers are being reviewed by similarly alarmist reviewers.
* The story of the Michael Mann hockey stick is a prime example of how scientists with an agenda can manipulate data in order to produce the desired (alarmist) result - see here to read more about this particular example.
* The media and the government have already closed their minds to the subject - you will rarely read anything that contradicts the so-called consensus in the mainstream media.
* Hence the importance of the blogosphere and independent sources of information on climate.

3. Key points on the economics

* The IPCC attributes the current warming almost entirely to man-made CO2.
* This is obviously in the UN's interest, since CO2 emissions can easily be regulated, unlike any other causes of climate change.
* This allows the UN to "blame" developed economies for the current warming, and force them to accept reductions in emissions in order to tackle climate change.
* Western government policy is based on the results of computer models which we have already seen are flawed.
* Schemes such as the Australian CPRS, otherwise known as the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will achieve nothing in terms of altering the climate - Australia produces less than 1.5% of global emissions. Even if we reduced those to zero overnight (a 100% reduction), it would make no difference to the climate (even if we assume that CO2 is the primary driver of temperature). So Kevin Rudd's 5 - 15% will achieve less than nothing.
* The ETS will do enormous damage to our economy and the standards of living of everyone in society, but especially poorer families who will be burdened with higher electricity, gas and food prices - whilst doingnothing for the climate.

4. Key points on the politics

* There seems to be, amongst Western societies generally, a desire to "do something" in order to assuage our collective guilt for 200 years of economic progress (although why we should feel guilty about this is a mystery, since that economic progress has lifted billions of people out of a miserable life of poverty).
* For some reason we are embarrassed about our standards of living, and believe that we must engage in a quasi-religious penitence for the sins we have committed against the planet (see here for an excellent comparison between climate change hysteria and religion).
* History shows us that environmental causes have often been used to advance political agenda.
* The present climate "crisis" unfortunately provides such an opportunity for:

*
o more global governance and regulation by the UN;
o a redistribution of wealth on a global scale from richer to poorer nations;
o widespread increases in taxation at the expense of economic growth and prosperity;
o a scaling back of Western economic progress; and ultimately,
o a dismantling of capitalist systems (anti-globalisation)

* This is evidenced by the allegiances of environmental ("green") and/or climate change activists, many of whom align themselves with socialist ideals (witness the composition of demonstrators at climate change protests - primarily from the political left).
* In Australia, the Rudd government is determined to push through the ETS before even seeing what other countries will commit to at Copenhagen. This may leave Australia in the position of having binding emissions reduction targets when much of the rest of the world has none. The inevitable result of this will be the export of local jobs and industry overseas.
* ACM believes that the ETS is a pointless political gesture for a country that produces less than 1.5% of global emissions, since it will have no effect on the climate whatsoever, but if we have to have it, we should at least make that decision with the knowledge of what other countries will commit to.

5. Conclusion

ACM is fully supportive of reducing pollution - and by that we mean proper pollution, particulates and toxins, and not CO2, which is a harmless gas and essential for all plant life on earth - from our environment. ACM is also fully supportive of conserving limited natural resources. However, the cost/benefit analysis based on these goals simply does not add up.

If you consider all the above points and dismiss them, then that is your prerogative. However, ACM's view is that unless or until it is proven beyond reasonable doubt that the present warming is solely or primarily caused by man-made CO2 emissions, policies to reduce those emissions are pointless, and should be strongly resisted. Such policies will send millions of people back into poverty.

ACM exists to communicate an alternative viewpoint to the one-sided presentation of climate change issues provided by the Australian government and mainstream media.

I am a very concerned Citizen of our beautiful Country, with regards ti what the Rudd Government are not doing, they Have done nothing, exept trying to send the Country Baankrupt, they give money away when we realy arnt in recession at all, and as far as Global Warming, the way they are going about it is a total disarster. Shore there are things we need to do, like stop the raping of the forests in Indonesia, stop maling plastic, turn to bio fule, why are our cane farmers going broke when we are paying so much for petrol, there is so much that could and should be done.
I have writen to Today Tonight, I hope you are listening as well, I know one Man can't do a lot but at least you try, keep up the good work.

Hi to the Today Tonight team,
I am a very concerned “Australian Citizen” because of what is happening to our beautiful country.

There are a number of things that I would like to talk about, as I and many others are of the same opinion, there are Projects that have been designed for many years, but nothing has been done about them, all the present Government seems to want to do is to wreck our economy just to win votes.

The first thing I would like to say is about the population of Australia, some years ago the people that do the calculations of people and how many a country can carry, it was said that Australia would only ever be able to support 50 million people, the reason given at that time was that there is so much arid and desert land here in Australia, at the time that statement was made it was probably the case, I do believe that could be changed somewhat, if we were to put in place some of the infrastructure that has been designed and talked about for many years, in some cases.

There was a scheme designed by a Man named Bradford, it was called the “Bradford Scheme” it is designed to turn 80% of North Queensland water West, it has been said that if that was done, the Barrier Reef would die, but every year when the wet comes in North Queensland the Greenies start screaming about the run off killing the Barrier Reef, it needs some one to grab the Bull by the horns instead of the other end and do something, it would only be politically unpopular to a very few, it has got to be built because it would also help keep water in Lake Eyre and possibly the Murray Darling, so instead of taking water allocations from the people that are growing food for our growing population, we would be able to grow a lot more food all the way down the Western side of the Great Dividing Range, the Burdekin Dam is part of the Bradford scheme, but that was when there was a forward thinking State Government in Power.

There is another scheme that has been suggested, that is to turn or pipe water from Lake Argyle, even as far as South to Adelaide, it would not have to be done in one year or even 20, but it should be started and got under way so that many, many hundreds of thousands of hectares of unusable land could be put into growing crops, this is another project that should be under way ASAP, a third of the water is let out of the Ord River Dam each year prior to the wet setting in.

There seems to be some big desperation with in our Government about Global Warming, they are running around like chooks with their heads cut off, they want to stop Mining and put a halt to Industry, what are they trying to do, send the Country Bankrupt, they haven’t even looked at the real problem, only one country on the planet has, that is China, one child per family, the planet Earth has become over populated, so the main reason for the Global Warming is because there are too many people, every person needs, food; that causes pollution, every person needs clothing; to make clothing causes pollution, people need transport, whether it be a cycle or a car, bus, train, aircraft, boat or any type of transport at all, it cause pollution, we need housing, we need furniture, every commodity that we need causes pollution.

When are our Penny Wong’s and the rest of our pollies going to have a good look at and start to do something about our overall situation, and stop these people that are coming in illegally, so called asylum seekers, they are paying top dollar to come here, spend their life savings then the tax payers of our country have to keep them, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, they have made a mess of their own country’s and now they want to come here and tell us what to do, they are now dictating to our government what they want and our Government are bowing to them, we are the ones that are losing our rights, it has to be stopped NOW.

I sent a Letter to The Sunrise Family, but have had no response from that, I addressed it to Kochie, I know he has been away but I would have thought someone would have acknowledged that it had been received.

I hope you can and will take a few of these matters serious, there is not enough being done, all this Government seem to wants to do is send use into liquidation.

My darling, when someone straight away attacks the way something is written rather than the point it is trying to make, that is when you lose all credibility.

Brian, there is a campaign in the media to distract people from the real issue by smearing Peter Spencer, not just the Australian

At the JoNova website, entitled How Not to do Journalism, there us a thread and comment,

Jo Nova Comment.

Watch the whitewash– so white it’s Green. The Peter Spencer story has finally broken into the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. Two “journalists” paired up to put together almost identical stories as a joint effort, and do their best to add doubt and smear to every part of the Spencer story. It’s a text book case in PR. These two journalists might make passable press secretaries for a Labor government. (Which is a well worn career path

and
Cubby and Harrison resort to bully-boy tactics instead of investigating the story. When I point out they are failing as journalists, they up the ante by trying to smear me (the paid hacks attack the volunteer eh?). Were they hoping that by mentioning my maiden name (which has zero recognition on the Australian political scene) that they would strike fear into my heart and intimidate me? Was there some need to bring my husband into this who has made exactly no public comments on the starving man? Why are they researching me in detail instead of Peter Spencer? That they resort to such a naked baseless attempt to smear everyone associated with Peter Spencer, instead of reporting the news, shows how dismally inept or hopelessly biased they are. It reflects badly on the mastheads. The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age are not even trying to give their readers the news, the whole news, and nothing but the news. The sub-editors who allowed or even encouraged this clumsy smear ought be exposed."

-------

The days of the media exposing corruption and unfairness are long gone,
Our rights and freedoms are being removed , slowly. and the media is no longer a whistle blower, but an enabler.

Tony Abbott & Barnaby Joyce are being manipulated by atheists, drug addicts and sodomites!!!

I saw some comments about Ian Plimer & Monckton so decided to check myself - Plimer is a radical atheist & hates Christians – he has been shown to be incompetent (see http://creation.com/ian-plimers-bloopers-a-selection) and dishonestly anti Christian – see http://creationwiki.org/Ian_Plimer “In 1994, Plimer published Telling Lies for God. In this book Plimer employs straw-man arguments, innuendo, guilt by association, and outright false accusations to malign creationists in general and C.S.F. in particular. ” Plimer lost a string of lawsuits including defamation actions after defaming decent honest Christians
- and our country is founded on Christian values.

Plimer is getting ExxonMobil money to bring Monckton to Australia - Monckton is a liar – he lied about being a Lord , he lied about being a Nobel Laureate, he lied about being a scientific advisor to Thatcher. He called for building concentration camps to imprison all AIDS suffers for life (read it in his outrageous book - "The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS," – I have a loved relative who got AIDS from a blood transfusion : Moncktons stormtroopers would arrest her & lock her up for life, just like the Nazis)

And then look at the biggest supporters of Monckton in the press – look up yourself (I cant print their names obviously) and you will find an aggressive serial homosexual, a cocaine abuser and a vile hypocrite who lectures us on morals but has been sacked from many jobs for sexual harassment and physical abuse of female staff

Why is this alliance of atheists , frauds, drug abusers, perverts & sodomites trying to take over the policy and thinking of the Liberal & National Party? Why are Tony Abbott & Barnaby Joyce falling for this?

To "margaret hamilton" if that is even your real name (maybe scio??)

Tone down your OFFENSIVE and LUDCRIOUS ACCUSATIONS!

"Tony Abbott & Barnaby Joyce are being manipulated by atheists, drug addicts and sodomites!!!"

Are you for real? You only sound SILLY saying things like this.

What is your basis for such OUTRAGEOUS statements.

Give us some FACTS to prove this.

Is it simply that you have your nikkers in a twist because this blog is not a LEFTIST LOVEIN?
Maybe the truth about the global warming HOAX makes you uncomfortable and you realize that YOU have been CONNED.

Do YOU support the DESPICABLE way that Peter Spencer and other farmers have been treated in the name of this new global warming RELIGION?
Would YOU prefer that he simply went away and DIED?

We loved your other comment "Why is the Daily Mail telling lies about global cooling" that gave us a good LAUGH.
Haven't you seen the news lately or have you been living in one of those caves that these CARBON COMMUNISTS want us all to reside in (in the dark - can't burn timber can we....carbon dioxide!)

Brian Wilson you sound a very bitter and twisted man - perhaps you should have anger management classes.

Have you read Ian Plimers book "Telling Lies for God" or read of his abusive attacks on Christians? If so , why do you pretend he is not an aggressive radical atheist?

Or do you hate Christians also?

Have you read about the lives of Ian Plimers journalist supporters? spend a little time researching the lives of the most noisy ones and you can easily find the sodomites and the drug addicts (cocaine) and sexual harassers. You know it is not possible to publish their names.

Why accuse someone who is not an atheist or a drug addict or a pervert of being a communist? What are you trying to hide?

I think your comments are just trying to make climate sceptics look silly & rude - why do you want to cloud the issue with lies?

Frank Furedi, writing in The Australian, correctly compares the hysteria of climate alarmists today to the paranoia of witch-hunters of the Medieval:

The term extreme weather speaks for itself and has become the new normal. "Extreme weather on the rise," warns the website of the Australian Weather Channel. It communicates a sense of helplessness: "But our emergency response teams are under stress" so "who is going to help you"? This is a rhetorical question.

Extreme weather is not so much a scientific as a cultural metaphor that expresses the anxieties of our time. The conceptual linkage of weather with extreme symbolises a growing tendency to endow natural phenomena with moral meaning.

We can no longer accept that sometimes harsh climatic conditions just happen. As in ancient times when superstition reigned, we interpret bad weather as a symptom of divine displeasure.

Today unexpected weather conditions are blamed on the impact of human beings on the environment. In medieval times unusual climatic episodes were seen as the handiwork of wicked demonic forces. Witchcraft was used to account for virtually every misfortune and unpleasant act. It was the climatic change brought by the so-called Little Ice Age in the 16th century that led to a resurgence of witch-hunting in Europe. From 1380 onwards, accusations of magic and weather-making increased dramatically in inquisitorial trials.

The resurgence of witch-hunting in the late 16th century was influenced by the belief that witches possessed demonic powers that could manipulate the climate in order to undermine the welfare and health of the communities in which they lived.

Throughout history people have sought to blame unusual climatic conditions on demonic forces. What the association of witchcraft with weather-making accomplished was to mobilise people's fears against the evil forces of heretics and non-believers. Scaremongering about witchcraft promoted the idea that its demonic powers could literally dominate nature. Father Friedrich Spee, a Jesuit critic of witch-hunting, noted sarcastically that "God and nature no longer do anything; witches, everything". But such beliefs were no joke. A late winter in the province of Treves in the 15th century led to more than 100 people being burned at the stake.

Since burning witches leaves a big carbon footprint, we are likely to find more environmentally friendly ways of punishing those who transgress society's confusing moral boundaries.

Does reading this make me a COMMUNIST ?

Parts of Europe actually are far hotter than normal - some places over 10 degrees hotter than normal

In southern Netherlands , during the blizzards , the temperature has been around 10 degrees HIGHER than 12 months ago when there were no blizzards. Did you know it takes both cold temperatures AND moisture to make snow?
Or perhaps you are one of those nuts who put empty ice cube trays in their freezer and in the morning when you find there is no ice , claim it proves that refrigeration is untrue?

THIS ABOUT SUMS IT UP - WHAT MORE CAN YOU SAY!

The possum and the grasshopper.

The possum works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks he's a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the possum is warm and well fed.

A social worker finds the shivering grasshopper, calls a press conference and demands to know why the possum should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others less fortunate, like the grasshopper, are cold and starving.

The ABC shows up to provide live coverage of the shivering grasshopper; with cuts to a video of the possum in his comfortable warm home with a table laden with food.

The Australian press informs people that they should be ashamed that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so while others have plenty.

The Labor Party, Greenpeace, Animal Rights, The Greens and The Grasshopper Housing Commission of Australia demonstrate in front of the possum's house.

The ABC, interrupting a cultural festival special from Nelson Mandela Gardens with breaking news, broadcasts a multi cultural choir singing "We Shall Overcome".

Sharan Burrow rants in an interview with Tony Jones that the possum got rich off the backs of grasshoppers, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the possum to make him pay his "fair share".

In response to pressure from the media, the Government drafts the Economic Equity and Grasshopper Anti Discrimination Act, retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The possum's taxes are reassessed. He is taken to court and fined for failing to hire grasshoppers as builders, for the work he was doing on his home, and an additional fine for contempt when he told the court the grasshopper did not want to work.

The grasshopper is provided with a Housing Commission house, financial aid to furnish it and an account with a local taxi firm to ensure he can be socially mobile. The possum's food is seized and re-distributed to the more needy members of society - in this case the grasshopper.

Without enough money to buy more food, to pay the fine and his newly imposed retroactive taxes, the possum has to downsize and start building a new home.

The local authority takes over his old home and utilises it as a temporary home for asylum seeking cats who had hijacked a plane at Sydney Airport as they felt threatened they had to share their country of origin with mice.

On arrival they tried to blow up the airport because of Australia's apparent love of dogs.

The cats had been arrested for the international offence of hijacking and attempted bombing but were immediately released because the police fed them pilchards instead of salmon whilst in custody.

Initial moves to make them return to their own country were abandoned because it was feared they would face death by the mice.

The cats are granted asylum in Australia and proceed to devise and start a scam to obtain money from people's credit cards!

A 60 Minutes special shows the grasshopper finishing up the last of the possum's food, though spring is still months away, while the Government house he is in, crumbles around him because he hasn't bothered to maintain it.

He is shown to be taking drugs.

Inadequate local government funding is blamed for the grasshopper's drugs "Illness".

The cats seek recompense in the Australian Courts for their treatment since arrival in Australia.

The grasshopper gets arrested for stabbing an old dog during a burglary to get money for his drug habit. He is imprisoned but released immediately because he has been in custody for a few weeks. He is placed in the care of the probation service to monitor and supervise him.

Within a few weeks he has killed a guinea pig in a botched robbery.

A commission of enquiry, that will eventually cost $10 million and state the obvious, is set up.

Additional money is put into funding for a drug rehabilitation scheme incorporating anger management for the grasshoppers.

Legal aid funds for a Parliamentarian's wife who happens to be a lawyer representing asylum seekers is not only made available but increased.

The asylum seeking cats are praised by the government for enriching Australia's multicultural diversity and dogs are criticised by the government for failing to befriend the cats.

The grasshopper dies of a drug overdose.

The usual sections of the press blame it on the obvious failure of government to address the root causes of despair arising from social inequity and the grasshopper’s traumatic experience of prison.

They call for the resignation of the Opposition Leader who supported the possums.

The cats are paid $1 million each because their rights were infringed when the government failed to inform them there were mice in Australia.

The possum, the dogs and the victims of the hijacking, the bombing, the burglaries and robberies have to pay an additional percentage on their credit cards to cover losses, their taxes are increased to pay for law and order, and they are told that they will have to work beyond 65 because of a shortfall in government funds.

AL GORE’S MODUS OPERANDI

Al Gore: “I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it [anthropogenic global warming] is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are.” IN OTHER WORDS - LIE.

Save us from this communist world government and the disciples of the antiChrist who believe this climate change is real - evil communist people such as :

The Queen - who called on the Commonwealth to take the lead in addressing climate change
John Howard - who took ETS to 2007 election (supported by the communist National Party)
Rupert Murdoch - who is making News Ltd carbon neutral and wants all News Ltd readers to rake urgent action on climate change
Margaret Thatcher - who initiated work addressing climate change some 20 years ago

Rudd , Turnbull, Hockey are all puppets controlled by these evil communists. REPUBLIC NOW
