Senator Joyce said today he hopes schools from across Australia will support the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s ‘Day for Daniel’ on Friday October the 30th 2009.
13 year old Daniel disappeared on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on December the 7th 2003; he was last seen waiting for a bus on the Nambour-Connection Road under the Kiel Mountain Road overpass.
Despite a National media campaign and a large reward being offered, Daniel’s disappearance remains unsolved.
The ‘Day for Daniel’ is held on the 30th of October each year to promote the protection and safety of our children.
Each year students from schools across Australia are urged to participate by wearing something red; Daniel was wearing a red tee shirt with the word Billabong written on it when he went missing.
Students are encouraged to take part in a range of community events to highlight the need for continued vigilance to protect our children.
Bruce and Denise Morcombe are to be commended for their efforts through the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and I urge everyone to get involved and participate in Daniel’s Day.
