Australians have an immense sense of decency and compassion for working mothers in the workplace however when you are elected to the Senate you are elected to an extremely important position.
“You are one of 76 people representing 21 million Australians and the Australian Senate is a place where we make serious decisions including those which may result in sending our fellow Australians to war. Because of this there are rules and procedures about just who can and cannot go beyond the bar of the senate chamber”, according to Senator Barnaby Joyce.
“Senator Sarah Hanson-Young claims she was not aware of these rules, however like any Senator elected to represent the people of Australia in the Senate, Senator Hanson-Young would have been fully briefed about Senate procedures”.
“The Greens have a track record of pulling stunts and if this was one of them then they have some serious questions to answer”.
“Clearly Senator Hanson-Young had several alternatives available to her on the day regarding the care of her child however yesterday’s events smell of a stunt designed to garner maximum media exposure for a Senator who up until these events has done little else to contribute to the national interest”.
“On the question of whether children should be allowed into the Australian Senate Chamber I fervently believe they should not as do more than 90%of people polled on this issue in today’s media”.
“Perhaps Senator Hanson Young thinks we should just roll out a blanket and put the toys in the middle”.
