The Australian Electoral Officer (State Manager) for Queensland, Ms Anne Bright, has reminded all interested individuals and organisations that written suggestions must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee by 6pm this Friday 24 April 2009.

“The redrawing of the Queensland federal electoral boundaries is a consultative process that is being undertaken to ensure that each of Queensland’s electoral divisions has, as near as possible, the same number of electors,” Ms Bright said.

Ms Bright also said the AEC provided a range of information to assist individuals and organisations to develop their suggestions.

“This information is available on the AEC website or from the AEC’s Brisbane office on 07 3834 3450,” she said.

Suggestions must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee for Queensland by 6.00pm on Friday 24 April 2009 in one of the following ways:

  • in person to 7th floor, 488 Queen Street, Brisbane Qld 4000; or
  • by mail to GPO Box 2590 Brisbane 4001; or
  • by facsimile to 07 3834 3452; or

Elections should always be a fair game. It decides the future of the country so the decisions regarding that should be taken very carefully. Queensland Federal election is going to come. This time there is a plan to redraw the electoral divisions in the Queensland. All the divisions should be of the same size so that a fair election can be held. There is an open forum and people can come forward and express their opinions.
