Queensland Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce was very pleased today to hear of the increased support his party is receiving following the release of recent News poll figures.
The statistics indicated support for the Nationals has risen from 4 to 7%. The Coalition as a whole have fared well, steady at 52% with Labor at 48%.
“The Nationals have fought hard and these figures reflect that,” Senator Joyce said.
“Many people have been quick to write us off over the years, but the Nationals always come back even stronger,” Senator Joyce said.
On a trip with the Senate’s ‘External Territories’ committee to the islands of Cocos and Christmas, the Senator said, “It was certainly pleasing news to wake up to this morning.”
“It is fantastic to see the Nationals enjoying such support as an individual party. It is still important however that we maintain our close relationship with our conservative colleagues.
“The Nationals must continue on this journey to ensure we can maintain our own solid identity and continue to partake in the delivery of good government,” said Senator Joyce.
