Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce said he was saddened to see the toll the floods in Mackay are taking.
"Although the people of the tropics are used to rain, I don't think anything prepares people for the rain they've had. The personal turmoil, the inundation of homes and properties has brought a huge distress to so many families.
"I'm glad to see the support the State and Federal Governments are giving to address these matters and hope my office can do whatever it can to lend a hand wherever it's needed.
"I look forward to getting to Mackay after emergency work has been completed to get a chance to talk to those who have been left in dire circumstances by the flood. Although I can't make any promises, we can try to help." Senator Joyce said today.
