Queensland Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce, today, noted the release of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau’s (ATSB) final investigation report on the fatal Lockhart River aviation accident.

“I hope it offers some closure to those directly involved. They have my deepest sympathies.” he said.

“Fifteen people lost their lives in this terrible accident. I am pleased the ATSB has conducted such a comprehensive investigation. Its final report identifies a number of factors which contributed to the accident and includes ten new safety recommendations.

“I expect these key safety actions will improve regional airline safety and hope they also bring some solace to family and friends of those affected by the accident.” Senator Joyce said.
