Labor proved today that when it counted, they could not be counted on.
They had an opportunity to make a difference but, rather, complied in deference to other faceless masters in big oil.
Labor voted to bring about an oil code with no protection for independents nor did they try and move an amendment that specifically quarantined a section of the market for independents.
They have voted to prove their credentials to big multi-national business at the expense of Australian fuel retail independents. They have proven that when the pressure is on they fold and it is better to run than be relevant. Labor has given credence as to why they are not given a majority in both houses.
Labor have delivered their platform, left wing social policy coupled with a preference of evening soirees with the required multi-national to negotiate the demise of our own independent retail industry.
Labor has provided no protections for fuel supply to regional Australia. Because of Labor’s vote, when the major oil companies choose not to supply regional fuel stations, there is nothing we can do about it.
When the major oil companies make the price to independents impossible for our independents to compete against the oil companies' own fuel stations, there is nothing we can do. Labor's vote to support no protection for independents means there is nothing we can do about it.
All in all, I feel Labor voters would be greatly disappointed with Labor in the Senate. They proved they were the doormat today.
