The Nationals Senator for Queensland Barnaby Joyce welcomed the decision to label all new Toyota, Holden, Ford & Mitsubishi vehicles with pro-E10 labels by next near.

“Our Nationals senate election promise to mandate 10% ethanol has moved a decisive step closer. Queensland is starting to get a return on the fact they delivered The Nationals senate seat that gave the government a majority in both houses,” Senator Joyce said today.

“The eventual mandate of Ethanol will make Queensland the beneficiary of a bio-renewable fuel industry worth ultimately billions of dollars and providing thousands of Queenslanders with jobs and business opportunities.”

“This has always been the goal of The Nationals and it was one of the four key planks that we stood on during the Senate campaign at the 2004 election,” Senator Joyce said.

“Every time I get the opportunity to raise this issue in Canberra I do. I remind the government that they use a seat that is there by reason of this commitment to mandating ethanol which was given in Queensland during the last election.”

“I commend the persistence of Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile on this issue and his ability to champion this cause for the Queensland and The Nationals. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of Senator Ron Boswell,” Senator Joyce said.

“We must now keep the Oil Company’s hands on the hot plate and not let them put their total market interest ahead of our nations transport future. We must move quickly to becoming more self reliant in our fuel requirements or we will head into an imported fuel inspired, trade account deficit train wreck.”
