Queensland Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce welcomes today's announcement, by the Australian Electoral Commission, that a new Federal Division (electorate) of Wright be included as part of the proposal for Queensland’s federal electoral redistribution.

Senator Joyce said this was great news for the Nationals and would certainly be an advantage as the party looks to increase its representation in Canberra, on behalf of Queenslanders.

“I will be supporting a campaign, to the best of my ability, to achieve that very outcome for the Nationals and for the people of rural and regional Queensland,” he said.

The proposed new division of Wright is located in an east-west band in Central Queensland - going from the Port of Gladstone and Hervey Bay on the Coast through to Longreach in the West.
