The rollout of Labor’s Regional Development Australia Fund, promised to Mr Windsor and Mr Oakeshott last year, is running at least two months behind schedule, Senator Joyce said today.
Minister Crean announced in a statement on 16th May 2011:
"I look forward to receiving advice on the most meritorious applications from the independent RDAF Advisory Panel in June and will announce successful projects in July," Mr Crean said.*
As reported in The Australian today, a spokesman for Regional Australia Minister Simon Crean last night confirmed the minister had not yet even received a shortlist of projects ticked off as being "ready for investment" from the fund's independent advisory panel.**
Senator Joyce said “It seems unlikely that the successful projects will be announced before the middle of next month at the earliest. The Government's promises on regional spending are proving to be empty.
But Mr Crean has found time over the past seven weeks to conduct 9 marketing sessions on the carbon tax involving Regional Development Australia bodies in Gippsland, Geelong, Gladstone, Mackay, Queanbeyan, Rockhampton, Hunter, Whyalla and Townsville.
"Minister Crean seems to have plenty of time to sell a carbon tax but not enough time to do what he is supposed to be doing as Minister for Regional Australia. Just when Australia needs strong leadership this is a government that is becoming increasingly distracted by broken promises, failed policies and scandals." said Senator Joyce today.
"Regional Development Australia committees are finding out that their greatest purpose appears to be a propaganda unit for Mr Crean rather than a mechanism to deliver real outcomes to regional Australia."

I am expecting the more patriotic parties with a good set of values to band together and rise up before our nation is brought to its knees. Bob Katter is already striking fear into the hearts of the ALP here in Queensland.

Everywhere I go, ordinary people are angry. One woman was very incensed about Labor cutting off Disability Support Pensioners, while at same time releasing a plan to collect a Disability Tax from pay packets and adding an Injury Tax to everyone's car running costs.

Since Senator Madigan (DLP) started checking out regional Australia, he has found the same kinds of problems as those described by Barnaby.

Our fruit and vegetable processing plants are being turned into warehouses to stock inferior canned foods from China, after they have been re-labelled in Oz!

The United Nations continues to ruin our economy and force our farmers from their land, by making us import all kinds of products we neither want nor need, most of which quickly finishes up in the landfill. And then we find out that Anna Bligh has already tabled a proposal for a Waste Levy in the Queensland parliament, which regional councils will be blamed for collecting!

While the third world amasses wealth at our expense, countries of the EEU and the USA are going broke at a rapid pace, a situation that Kevin Rudd expects us to emulate, while putting HIMSELF in charge of an Asia/Pacific Economic Union which will further reduce us to penury!

Thousands of workers have already lost their jobs in the mining industry, due to the proposed new Tax on Air, and we are becoming little more than a quarry to service the voracious manufacturing appetite of the Chinese.

It certainly makes little sense to sell foreign nations our raw materials so that we can buy back value-added products. This sends our workers to the wall, and increases foreign debt.

The long awaited Productivity Commission Report into Aged Care has not resulted in better pay and working conditions or a better service, because the Slave Labor Party doesn't give a stuff about anything but selling us all out!
