TASMANIAN Premier Lara Giddings this week declared peace for the forests. I trust she wasn’t waving a piece of paper from the foot of the steps after stepping off a plane. Green peace is an elusive concept, since the Greens can never be appeased. They have no concern for the pieces of people’s lives they leave behind.

When I was eight, green activists became active in Dorrigo, in north-eastern NSW. It was not the flashiest place on earth, but most had a job until the greenies put an end to the timber industry.

This week I have been in Tasmania, a state full of potential, but neutered by a philosophy that puts trees first, frogs second and families last. The Greens’ undergraduate pop-up-book philosophy promises the fairytale but delivers economic privation to those living many miles from the Manic Monkey Cafe in inner urban Nirvanaville.

If you really want to see what Green economic policy looks like, try Scottsdale in Tasmania. You won’t find many greenies or the green jobs they keep promising, but you will find economic misery left behind by Green policies.

One of the greatest attributes of Australian life is the expression of individual freedom. I can say, basically, what I like, pretty much write what I like, worship who I want, or not at all, and start whichever business I like. These freedoms are being curtailed by the inspired morality of the Greens, who are placing righteous caveats on the freedom of our economic development, expression of thought and even which science we can research.

The Greens have given the term "environment" an omnipotent, all-encompassing quality.

Whenever they utter the word it is a precursor that demands blind, unquestioning obedience.

Their cause always follows this path: find the high-colour issue, beatify the cause, then never be satisfied as they ride the horse called Insatiable Nihilism to the town of Shut Down.

The Greens started by opposing the Gordon-below-Franklin dam, but now the Wilderness Society in Tasmania opposes all dams, even small farm dams. The outcome is that it takes two years or more in Tasmania to get a farm dam approved.

The Greens have then been central in shutting down the other major industry in Tasmania, forestry. At the 2004 election the Greens were all about stopping the logging of "old-growth" forests. Now we have another forestry deal, old-growth forests have morphed into all native forests, including regrowth, and the Greens want to shut the whole industry down.

Global warming has morphed into climate change. A $23 carbon tax will, at the stroke of a bureaucrat’s pen, morph into a $131 carbon tax to shut down the entire coal industry. How do the Greens achieve these results when nine out of 10 don’t vote for them? Don’t be fooled by the complexion of their kaftan; their thuggery is different. Recently the Greens have put pressure on a large retailer not to sell products made from Tasmanian native forests.

The tactics of commercial boycott, because you don’t share the culture of the targeted merchants, have historically been abhorred.

But we seem to let the Greens and GetUp! get away with it.

The victims of these cultural pogroms are hidden from the ABC audience of Q&A. Like the consequences of a conquering army, the fruits of a green victory are depression, unemployment and loss of property values and rights for the defeated people.

The results are there for all to see in Scottsdale, where the economic rug has been pulled out from beneath the town. For the people who stayed, their house values have halved and the Greens think a fair economic prospect is an unemployment cheque.

Last week Greenpeace activists used whipper-snippers to destroy a CSIRO experimental GM wheat crop. A local Greens politician gave his endorsement to this holy crusade to destroy scientific research and public property. He absolved his flock, saying "You have to stand up for what you believe in sometimes." I’m glad he doesn’t believe in capital punishment.

For the Greens, sometimes they like the science, sometimes they don’t. Ask questions on the science of climate change and you are a denier; destroy a research crop and you are a crusader.

Would we endorse the same action for others? There is neither grace, nor charm, nor style from the person otherwise known as a bully.

Absolutely spot on. The public face of the Greens as lovable tree huggers is far from the truth. They have secret extreme agendas and the big worry is, the ALP Government is being led around by the nose by the Greens in a desperate attempt to stay in power. Surely even the PM doesn't expect us to believe the carbon tax is the ALP's idea? Even when the Government changes at the next election (sooner rather than later), the carbon tax won't be able to be repealed without either a double dissolution or waiting until the next Senate election, due to the Greens holding the Senate balance of power. Their next extreme plan is press censorship, demonstrated by Bob Brown's plan (endorsed by the PM of course) to hold enquiries into the Murdoch owned press in Australia. Naturally only the press which is critical of the Greens or the ALP and which dares tell the truth to the people will come under scrutiny.

dear Barnaby Joyce

If you talk to any Eastern European person who lived through communism or support communism parties that exist today in Europe, Even Italy has a communist party. The the scary thing is the Greens are no different, actually they are more close to a police state. Control the media, control the police which their own version of a police officer, carbon cops who seem to have more authority than the actually police who have to follow strict laws with accusing anyone. Soon the carbon cops will have the power to investigate peoples homes how much C02 we emit daily.

This is getting out of hand and the longer the Greens have this power which they have never had before, the worst situation it becomes for Australia because now people are getting a good understanding how the Greens actually work as before no one knew their policies, this Hung parliament has exposed their true disguise as an extremist left wing party with Anti Israel agendas as one member from the Greens wanted to boycott Israel goods, to attacking scientist in the field of crop growing research, to buying out forest industries, to imposing a carbon tax/ETS and on top of this they get their own bank account which is funded with our own tax money which we never voted for the Greens to do whatever they like with the $10 billions. What is next? It is like they know this government won't win the next election so it is like they'll try pass as many policies as they can regardless if they turn out good or not just so they can get their greedy hands on whatever they seek.

The interesting thing out of all this is that Bob Brown has gone quiet. Before carbon Sunday he was doing a lot of interviews and now his gone missing in action, Maybe he realized the more he talked about carbon tax the worst the polls got for him or who knows maybe discussing how Australia could give up its sovereignty to the UN so they can control us. It is not like his kept it a secret he has stated he wants a world government, probably the UN which isn't an elected government that makes $billions of other countries tax money to fund their own programs, without ever producing anything. Soon we will be getting taxed by them. This is very scary stuff and the longer this government stays in the power the more the Greens take control of the policies. We need a vote of no confidence in this government before we end up like the US or Europe. People work hard for their money, not so it can be sent to the UN for either the climate change scam or support in their military operations and now we will be giving them more money with the carbon credit trading to their banks the IMF and other greedy banks once we link up with them on the ETS, another scam. I hope you can defeat this debacle.
kind regards

Fantastic piece of writing Barnaby! Well said! Please continue to work hard and get the message out there for us. The aim of the game has to be control of both houses after the next election and the way they're going you've got a shot at it!

I enjoyed this article immensely but it was a lot of trouble to find.

Can you please consider linking the posts onto facebook - easy access & greater exposure.

And Barnaby please do everything you can to stop the family law amendments (family violence bill) now in the Senate.

This is more Green/ALP bullying being peddled as protecting children from pervasive family violence. The Left wants this Bill passed because 70 percent of unmarried women voted for ALP or Greens. They vote for the party that offers the richer subsidies and more welfare.

Unfortunately, the independent AIFS study found no evidence that DV had increased. So the AG commissioned a "report" by family lawyer Chisholm who unsurprisingly recommended more power and profit for family lawyers - DV had not increased because women are afraid to make allegations. Hence the "Hate Men" law in the Senate which takes the "he said" out of "he said/he said" and removes all penalties for lying.

Family violence is redefined to be non-violence & the requirement that fear be reasonable is removed. She is offered his house, assets, kids & future income to say she is afraid. Any objections silenced by an interim protection order - formerly repealed but now reinstated without explanation.

This law which presumes guilt without evidence is persecution masquerading as protecting children. In fact most children will be put at increased risk by the child harming conflict this law manufactures & perpetuates. 80% of all reported child abuse occurs in overwhelmed, underscrutinised single parent homes.

The taxpayer picks up the tab for tens of $billions thrown away in increased welfare, the mass criminalization of men and the costs of dealing with all the social pathologies directly associated with mass fatherlessness – delinquency, addictions, mental health problems, unemployment, poverty, crime – which, in turn, creates a self perpetuating cycle of family dysfunction and abuse. The Bill truly is a Trojan Horse concealing the WMD of family.

The govt poses as champions of motherhood and family while selling out children for green female votes. The family violence billl is politically correct child abuse.
