Rob Oakeshott today announced that he won’t support a plebiscite on a carbon tax before the details of the tax are released.

“Does that mean he will support one once the details of the carbon tax are announced?” said Senator Barnaby Joyce today.

“If he doesn’t that means the people of Port Macquarie, the people of Taree and the people of Gloucester and indeed all the people of Lyne will be denied a chance to have their say on the carbon tax.

“The day that Julia Gillard announced the carbon tax, Rob Oakeshott said that he “would vote for it tomorrow”.1 If Rob Oakeshott can have a vote before the details are released why can’t the people of his electorate have the same privilege?

“Rob Oakeshott talks about acting for the future, but obviously that doesn’t include consultation with those he purports to represent. Surely it is their future he should be most concerned with, not just his own” Senator Williams said.

“Please do not make us suffer this ridiculous little dance which so often happens, in which we know where you are going to end up but you think we are too foolish to understand your machinations. It seems awfully like you have already made your decision to support the carbon tax and now we have to go through this tooth-pulling agony of a charade as we wait for yet another press conference when you stand out the front and tell us something that we probably all guessed months ago” said Senator Joyce.

“The fact is Rob Oakeshott is now one of the most loyal lieutenants of the Australian Labor Party and must accept responsibility for all that they are.”

Oakeshott is on borrowed time...The people of Lyne are going to have much pleasure in turfing him out ...as soon as they get a chance...
This man is such a "wanker", and a true soldier of the "Left"...
He is a total hypocrit....cares not a hoot for anyone on the land ..in the Lyne electorate....and these people have just experienced a major flood.
Just to hand feed livestock and survive the winter will be a challenge for them....let alone facing the Greens attacking fury come July.....then the Carbon Tax onslaught with the rest of us..come 2012.
Oakeshott is more interested in "photo shoots"..."media posing"...."preaching sincerities"...and expecting us all to believe him...!!
The majority of the Electorate in Lyne, and the rest of Australia have ....WOKEN UP....in other words Rob....they trust you as much as they can kick you ..into the Hastings River.!!
Carbon vote.....and Election please....ASAP !!

I was also disappointed to see Steve Fielding not backing the idea of a plebiscite. Perhaps he should be asked if he wants a fresh election at the expense of the Labor Party instead. I think the answer will be: "Yes!"

I think we found out what Rob Oakeshott was like when he tried to nominate HIMSELF as the new Speaker in the House of Representatives.

On a political program on Sunday, it was suggested that the Carbon Tax may pass through the parliament by the end of June. This has made me rather suspicious of an ash cloud generated in Chile closing down Australian airports.

Why was there an ash problem caused by the Icelandic volcano only 2 or 3 weeks out from the UK election?

Why do we now have an ash cloud problem in Australia 2 weeks before Ju-liar Gillard expects her atrocious TAX ON AIR to pass through the parliament?

I'm in the Lyne electorate. I've just written to Rob Oakeshott expressing my opposition to a carbon tax and reminding him that the majority of his electorate and in fact the nation also oppose the tax. I gave him this link to a website showing scientific truths about climate change so he can read it and have no excuse for being ignorant to the facts.

http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/GlobWarmTest/start.html

He has recently been promoting a visit to our area by Ross Garnaut, the advisor to the government on climate change, and I've suggested that his report is flawed and not factual and reminded him that Ross Garnaut is being paid by the government for his opinion which is what they want him to say rather than the truth. Bribery, distortion, blatant lies, political blackmail and socialist thuggery is what this government represents - this is not democracy!

What we're experiencing now is the lowest form of political arrogance and democratic abuse that Australia has been subject to in my 48 year lifetime and probably 100 years before that. Gillard, Swan, Combet, Rudd, Shorten, Wong, Garrett, Windsor, Oakeshott, Wilkie, Bob Brown, and others - these names will be remembered in Australia's political history as those who supported policies that would cripple a country's economy, ignore the people's voice, impose personal convictions on a nation that did not have those same convictions, penalise the achievers and reward those who chose to take advantage of a somewhat compassionate and gullible society.
"Congratulations" to the forementioned, your children should be disgusted and dismayed by your actions.

Good one, David!

Ross Garnaut is an economist, not a scientist, but he is aptly named. When he opens his mouth, only guano comes out.

It is clear we are no longer living in an independent democracy. More and more people are beginning to realise they have been duped and cheated over the decades.

Only the extremely gullible believe in a TAX ON AIR. I'm sure the idea would have had Robin Hood rolling in the aisles and dying of laughter.

Would love to know how the clown is polling in his electorate. Lordy, the good people there were humiliated at his 17 minute ramble.

how is a Carbon Tax going to reduce polution..by charging a tax is the
polution going to disappear..of course not.. just another revenue raiser this
is all a conspiracy...sick and tired of all the politics instead discussions and
incentives should be given to find "ways" to reduce polution I could mention
some...like reducing travel..???? just for one..( large companies employ local's
..shool teachers employed locally..etc..etc ) goes on and on...

Nestler:

If the Greens are allowed to take over according to the Grand Plan, no one will be able to afford to travel. They will make sure you can only use shank's pony (legs).

Yes, buying locally grown produce and manufactured goods is an excellent answer to cutting pollution.

Using local graduates in the business and educational arena is also an excellent solution. Why should The Lucky Country need to import both foreign experts and ordinary workers, when we can "grow" our own?

I live in Oakeshott's electorate and have written to him on four occasions and called his office a number of times to convey my disgust in his actions in relation to the Carbon Dioxide tax and supporting Labour and their policies in general. He has never bothered to reply to my emails or return my calls. I know people who helped him his campaign at the last election and they have VOWED to NEVER support him again! Community feeling here is that he has 'shafted' us to further his own agenda. I can't wait until the next election and to see the back of him!
