Simon Crean announced today that $1 billion worth of projects had applied for the first round of the $1 billion Regional Development Australia Fund. “The problem is that there is only $300 million in the budget over the next four years,” said Senator Barnaby Joyce today.

“I am currently travelling around northern NSW. Northern NSW is actually in regional Australia.

You know what it is like- trees, wildlife, long distances between pubs, that sort of stuff. Most of the area is kind of dark at night.

Simon, regional Australia does not include the Antarctic, which it does in your regional budget documents, it does not include Perth, where your biggest "regional" project is being funded, and it does not include Adelaide, where migrants can come to live under your Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme.

Now I know Simon you have done a smoke and mirrors trick in the definition of regional Australia, and now you are trying to pull the same swiftie with the definition of money.

You see Simon it's quite simple, you only had $300 million allocated to the Regional Development Fund in the forward estimates, but now $1 billion worth of projects have applied.

Now to keep things nice and simple Simon, you have only got $300 million to spend but in your media release claim that $1 billion of projects have applied for a $1 billion fund.

I am having a wonderful time in regional Australia. One day I might actually bump in to you.”

Noahs Climate Ark.

Current increases in floods, droughts are just the current news. Compared with future weather it is the good news. There is more warming on the way for sure, unless carbon dioxide is miraculously reduced back below 350 ppm. Carbon dioxide acts as a thermostat. While the thermostat is too high, our planet continues to warm. It takes a little time to work, of the order of a span of a few human generations. But it stays effectively in the air for millenia.

As we turn up the climate thermostat, the expected temperature and weather in future centuries becomes worse. Climate change tipping points, such as ice sheet melting , rainforest burn off, move faster and closer to our present time. Soon they will be history. Soon we all will be history.

The good news is that the worlds overpopulation problem is on the way to having a guaranteed solution. The bad news is that our future survival is becoming even more questionable.

Those with the biggest hand in supplying the fuel to push up the thermostat, are the biggest deniers of their responsibility. Fossil fuel corporations deny the thermostat exists. Their denial is going to be responsible for more of the climate devestation in the future. It is guilt that motivates their denial. Four decades ago human innocence could still be claimed with some caution, before the rising CO2 levels had been measured, and before the signs of the climate changing were noted. Now there is no doubt how planets climate control thermostat works, and that it is working.

The worst part of denial by the richest corporations in the world, is that they could, with determination and innovation, afford themselves from their yearly profits to fund a switch to renewable energy resources, and have profits in future from owning a large part of renewable energy supply. Supplies of oil would still be required as feedstock for the chemical and agricultural industries and would also profitable for longer, given a reduction in fossil fuel burning. The denial of the CO2 thermostat, in legislation, in the USA, is the biggest criminal act of stupidity in all of human history. The location of this greatest of human stupidity are the richly paid executives of the fossil fuel corporations. If climate change action is to occur, they must be removed from their places of maximum harm. They are the true terrorists of our age.

The reference to Noah is apt. We do not need a ark for all the species. The entire planet is our ark, and we are currently killing off most of the species. We need to stop burning it up. We need to build a renewable energy ark.

Michael:

I think your theories will be disproven when a Carbon Tax and Carbon Trading Scheme are only applied to the western/developed nations.

China and India are among the biggest emitters. My bet is that more of the pollution will be created by them, while they remain exempt from a Carbon Tax.

It seems clear that you have been duped using Fear and Guilt, which are the 2 primary drivers of a destructive cult, which is the new Red/Green/Black Pagan Carbon Religion.

I suggest you read "Climate: The Counter Consensus" by Professor Bob Carter. Perhaps you will then come to realise that mankind has no real control over the weather.

Most parties now support a moderate environmental policy. We don't need greedy scaremongering corporates robbing us all blind.

I suggest we leave it to God to concern himself with an Ark, and cease relying on Pagan religion as our main source of information.

There are huge corporations which stand to gain a helluva lot from a Carbon Trading Scheme. It is also an excellent tool of corporate neo-communism, which is already causing the developed nations to bite the financial dust.

Please also check out collapsing economies in the European Economic Union.

My goodness Michael. Where did you learn such rubbish?
The predominant greenhouse gas is water vapour. Also, with CO2 at 380 ppm, this can be represented by 380 mm in 1 kilometre. Man is responsible for 3% of CO2 emissions. Nature does the rest.
So 3% of the 380 mm is about 11mm in ONE KILOMETER. Now Australia contributes 1.5% to the worlds CO2 emissions. Now we end up with 0.17mm in a kilometer. That's right - a couple of hair breadths in a kilometer is a simple but accurate comparison. And Gillards clowns want to tax this to change the temperature of the planet. Really. How can supposedly intelligent people be so incredibly stupid!!!
CO2 is essential for life on this planet - anyone calling it pollution is a dill. This is a good listen: http://www.2gb.com/index2.php?option=com_newsmanager&task=view&id=8891
I am disgusted how science has been corrupted. This doomsday rubbish peddled by some sections secures future funding for infantile projects not suitable for the real world.
Why isn't a song and dance made about real pollution - like the cyanide let flow into waterways from gold mining operations. How about the CSG operations and fracking. Check out Gasland that was recently on SBS. That is real pollution that people should be worrying about.
