In 2009 The Nationals led the charge against the proposed Emissions Trading Scheme. At the time only 7 per cent of people supported us.

With your help we convinced our Coalition partners, the Australian people and eventually even Julia Gillard herself to ditch a plan to impose a big, new tax as a way of cooling the planet.

Now, despite telling the Australian people five days before the last election that “There will be no carbon tax under the government I lead”, Julia Gillard is telling Australians that we really do need one.

So now we have to fight the carbon tax fight again. I have no doubt that with the support of the millions that helped last time, we can stop another Labor tax - again.

We will win because you can’t cool the planet from a room in Canberra.

We will win because if taxes cooled the planet, the place would already be an icebox.

We will win because people are already paying over 40% more for their electricity since Kevin Rudd was elected in 2007. People don’t need another excuse to turn down the heating.

We will win because we have a choice between cheap power and cheap wages. If we end up with dear power and dear wages we will have no jobs.

We will win because a carbon tax would especially hurt those that live outside our capital cities, who rely on affordable transport to keep the cost of living down.

We will win because the Australian people don’t like being misled, particularly by their Prime Minister.

Julia Gillard sits in the same office as Curtin, Chifley, Menzies and Whitlam. All of these Prime Ministers had their faults, but none deceived the Australian people in the way that Julia Gillard has.

The only way that the Australian people can stop this from happening again is to send a loud and clear message to Canberra that they will not tolerate such deception.

Today I spoke at the “no carbon tax rally” in Canberra where thousands did exactly that.

We are ready to fight against a government whose every solution to every problem is a new tax.

Subject: Fw: Climate change

Subject: Climate change

For CO2 to be greenhouse gas CO2 has to be in the right place and right concentration . This is very important and is confirmed by the fact that the density of the atmosphere falls dramatically with altitude. Note the death zone on Mt Everest and the rush to lower altitudes of the Top Gear Team when in the Andes. They needed to do this to save their lives. When air is thin ie Low Density due to Altitude so is the presence of CO2 Though analysis using partial pressure laws show that CO2 levels are zero at 1.5Km the cloud hight for the greenhouse affect. Even mountaineering data shows the density of air at 16000ft to be half that at sea level so CO2 levels would be at least half of the 370ppm at sea level before taking into account the low temperature etc as calculated in the attached paper This fact is taken from Martin & Connor Basic Physics a book used for many years in 5th & 6th form Physics. Statistical analyses as promoted by Tim Flannary etc have more in common with the work How to lie with Statistics than with real science. Note in The greenparty attachment it states at 10 meters 387ppm shown as 10 387.0000000000000000 and as the altitude gets higher eg at 1500 meters shows 0.000000066etc or 1500 0.00000006 This shows some one in the Greens is sceptical about the effect of CO2 on climate change.
To use flawed climate change science to lock up 500 years of brown coal from producing electricity is on the boarder of being criminal.Brown coal is ideal for electricity production as it is cheap plentiful and not much use for anything else. Its combustion merely puts CO2 into the atmospheres where it is part of the Carbon Cycle and is taken up by vegetation and synthesis into Carbon and O2 some is taken up in the sea and underwater plants. It does no harm at its very Low density. If it was stored underground at high concentrations it would be very dangerous. If it escaped it could cause immediate deaths in the region just as volcanoes do when gas is released such as CO2 and SO2
Hope this will help you understand the real science behind CO2 and the greenhouse effect. This effect is mainly due to water vapour and is not greatly affected by human activity.
These views merely mirror Sir Isaac Newton, Boyles laws Daltons Partials Pressure Laws etc The views of Tim Flannary Al Gore etc are somewhat less important .Their reputation and intelligence would not be on a par with these giants of science. We should not confuse the Carbon Cycle with the green house effect. The carbon cycle occurs at low altitude and is a measure of fuel use. The greenhouse effect involves the re transmission of radiant heat and is almost exclusively caused buy water, water vapour .The taxing of CO2 will have no effect on the climate but may reduce fossil fuel use. It is important to encourage the use of the most bountiful fossil fuels hence brown coal should be exempt from any CO2 tax as it is bountiful cheap and not much use for anything else but burning to produce electrical energy at a very cheap price.
Note these are not my thoughts but thoughts that are attributed to Sir Isaac Newton etc whose works under pin just about all the normal engineering knowledge that exists. CO2 atomic weight 44 vers H2O atomic weight 18 and gravity clearly explain why CO2 is essentially a sea level gas while H2O is found at higher altitudes in its vapour form

Go flat out Barnaby. The whole carbon tax is based on fraud and deceit and clowns like Garnaut and Flannery show their intelligence has been corroded by money.
How about Japan tax radiation to stop it spreading. Would be the same result as Australia taxing carbon. At least Japan has real pollution.
Tell all the paramedics and lifeguards etc that when they resuscitate someone, they are breathing pollution into them. Anyone using carbon and pollution in the same sentence is a fool. I hear Gillard, Brown and Combet often say it.
I hope people wake up to the con. A carbon tax and ETS will foster a useless industry of fleas - sucking their bit of blood out of anyone possible.

Great to see some sensibility in this Carbon Tax fraud.
As a specialized horticulturalist, I know that if the atmospheric Carbon Dioxide level is increased from normal 350 -400ppm to 1350ppm, plant growth increase up to 4 fold. Commercial growers do this in hothouses to speed crop growth dramatically.
It stands to reason that mother nature naturally compensates for increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide (from volcanoes etc) by the plants utilizing it to grow faster therefore using more of the available CO2. Once levels drop, the plant growth rates slow down again.
In fact, the more CO2 in the atmosphere, the greener the planet.
How Gillard can even attempt to justify her Carbon Tax is a a pathetic joke (at every households expense).

I am disgusted with the heavy handed way this unelected government continually treats the aussie public as imbeciles. The complete lack of open mindedness of this labour progressive lot is an indictment on our so called Governemnt of our beautiful country.

Since Rudd came in we have had nothing but spin, lies, incompetance, cover up and duplicity. We deserve much better than that, or do we?? After all the masses voted them in. As it says in Proverbs: " The people perish due to their ignorance" I am afraid it will be too late once this lot have finished destroying our country. Not to mention the role of the media!! Totally out of balance.

Keep going Barnaby! We are behind you.

Julia Gilliard and her cronies are not fit to govern this wonderful country of ours. The incompetence of this government has been demonstrated time and time again. How these people can have so much hide is beyond my comprehension..all she wants is to remain in the top job and does not give a damn about anyone else outside her circle..I can't even bear to listen to her condescending tone let alone the totally misleading and untruthful things she says..

A Tax is a Tax, I could live with a carbon tax IF the capital raised was directly injected into actual R&D projects producing a construction of an alternative power source. There are many options yet little to no advancement from the concept phase. All that a carbon tax will do is raise more slush funds for injection into internal revenue and lost for the good!

the goverment were so keen to blow billions on pink batts and school halls, why carnt they/us start putting solar panels on as many house holds and business roofs as possible , wouldnt this take a big whack out of our power usage. make it more affordable for every australian to have a go at and do there bit if its so bad . stop the taxes. i work out in woop woop make a good dollar but i work dame hard to get it and also make a lot of scrafices living and working in remote areas, i love my job and the area we live but the price increases in everything and then go and tax us to the hilt yet again is getting a bit hard to swollow.
stop the taxes - if the carbon is that bad , use direct action , do somthing now instead of waiting for people to change there ways

I would just like to add to the current argument one aspect of the proposed tax that just doesn't seem to come up (I note every time Ms Gillard is asked this question she side steps answering it).

If we were to put aside any argument on CO2, at least for the sake of this tax - that is not arguing whether or not Carbon is bad etc - and look at the figures released in the 2007 IPCC Report, it can be worked out the actual reduction in temperatures and sea level rise if we were to reduce emissions.

Reducing our emissions by 20% will have the net effect of reducing temperatures by 0.0031 degrees and reduce sea level rise in Australia by ~ 0.2 mm.

In the case of the carbon tax, the most basic flaw is that even if it were to have the effect of reducing emissions (and that is not garunteed) the "mainstream science" - as it so affectionately called - would result in a temperature reduction so small that the Bureau of Meteorology's temperature sensors it measures climate with would not be able to detect meaning there is no possible way we can ever measure whether the efforts we made in reducing emissions will have any measurable effect whatsoever on the environment.

There are a number of newer energy theories coming through today that provide possible alternatives to being always on Fossil Fuel which in the end is the direction we would all like to go. I and many others would happily support an increase in tax if that money were to go directly to programs designed to lessen the impact to Australia from Climate related events (emergency funds, dams where needed, newer energy sources, nuclear etc).

The ultimate irony of the Carbon Tax proposal is that the very science it s based upon - and this is disregarding any argument as to whether it's accurate - already shows that a Carbon Tax will NOT have any affect on Climate Change so I have to ask the question - what is the point?

The proposed tax on carbon (dioxide) is the most insane, ridiculous proposal of la Gillard and her cohort that they could possibly put forward. The tax will stifle Australian industry, drive industry to foreign lands and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help the environment. Carbon dioxide is an absloute necessity to life onearth and IS NOT POLLUTION. This proposal seems to be just another arrow in Gillard's socialist quiver. It will be a disaster!

This carbon dioxide tax is nothing more than a way of moving money around the country to employ more public servants and to remove money from the working man. To increase electricity charges is now tantamount to criminal and the people pushing this agenda should be treated as criminals. Regardless of your political leanings to deliberatley reduce the living standards of the people should be viewed as an attack on the people. I came in 1973 from another country and at the time Australia had no 1 position in living standards in the world.... now we are somewhere passed no 25. The people who have done this to the country started with a man I consider public enemy no 1 Gough Whitlam. The current government are now trying to reduce the people of Australia to living with 3rd world conditions because they believe in the socialist dogma of everyone is equal regardless of their contribution to our society. I am leaving this country shortly after 37 years of hard work and little to show for it with a government determined to see I dont leave with anything worth while. I pray that if and when I return this country it will have managed to get rid of these looney left greenies and socialists. They produce nothing they take everything and give away what does not belong to them.

When this deceitful PM can prove to me the science is actually settled on Anthropogenic Global Warming which anybody with a brain knows it isn't because proper science is never settled, I may reconsider my position on a Carbon Dioxide Tax.

When the PM can prove her Carbon Dioxide Tax will not drive Australian business offshore, I may reconsider my position.

When the PM proves to me this tax is not simply a rob Peter To Pay Paul tax and will actually be beneficial and not a total waste of time and money, I may reconsider my position on it.

When the PM proves to me Research and Development into new forms of energy able to take up baseload will be the major beneficiary of this Carbon Dioxide Tax, I may reconsider my objection to it.

This Prime Minister has lost all credibility. I cannot trust her nor am I able to trust the government she leads, therefore I consider this Tax will end up being just another Labor Government Epic Failure.

The LNP must stop trying to be popular and instead try and propose policies which are in the National interest.
The policy of paying mothers who have children by a levy on business destroys the Party's credibility when opposing new taxes and a policy of mandated female representation on company Boards is insulting to intelligent men and women.

Co2 makes up less than one percent (1%) of the earths atmosphere and by comparison has very little effect on global temperatures. I believe the CarbonTax is based on misinformation and is a cleverly disguised attempt to impose a very effective tax with absolutely no regard for the consequences. The last thing Australians need right now is an increase in the already strong headwinds. Ask any business owner.

The labor gov't has stuffed every single thing it has tried to do, and blown billions of dollars in each case. Imagine what they will do with a carbon tax. Totally useless carbon tax.

we recently visited Iceland. We all know that glaciers are melting across the Arctic and particularly in Iceland. They say this is due to global warming and probably this is true.Hoever the local guides who we spent 7 days with driving aroung in the winter wilderness are convinced that the melting is only part of the climate cycle of cooling and warming. In support of this position they quote that when Iceland was settled back before year 1000 it was much warmer than it is now and it has gone through a cooling/freezing period after year 1400 for the next 3-400 years and now we are in a warming period. All this climate cycling is normal to them. I thing Julia needs to at least listen to others and a tax will not influence climate change(cycling) in any way.

AGW is Rubbish. Google "the mass of the solar system"then tell me the sun doesn't matter. Google Piers Corbyn and listen to a forecaster that acually gets it right. Go to http://www.solarham.com/ find out a little about that big orange blob in the sky. As for the ABC=ALP we only ever get one side of the agument, at least Maxine McKew did the right thing and rin for Parliament, the rest of the ABC=ALP should do the same.

Its high time that equal animosity is directed to Bob Brown and his minions. Christine Milne announced today she has no interest in listening to any alternative view about the climate. While Gillard and co are lunatics, the greens are very dangerous lunatics who are now loading bullets for Labor to fire.
This carbon tax fight will be a wake up call for Oakshot and Windsor. This whole tax is based on fraud and deceit - if they can't see that, then they are as big a fool as the Labor-Greens.
The sad part of this whole issue is the corrupted nature of "science" When supposedly intelligent people come up with rubbish to gain enormous amounts of funding, this is not real science. The arrogance of these supposed scientists makes me want to vomit.

Thanks Barnaby, It was well worth spending that 10 minutes filling out my Senate paper to put you first. All I want is Gillard to get a mandate from the people for a carbon tax, just like John Howard did for the GST. She has sullied the trust we put in her and the Independents by her unwillingness to get a mandate from the people. If she's incapable of understanding why she needs to get one, she'll learn the lesson at the next election! We Queenslanders are quite capable of sitting on our verandahs waiting for polling day with our bats. Why is she going to all this trouble and expense to bring in a tax she doesn't have a mandate for when people don't like being lied to. Regardless of whether she's right or wrong, the result for her will be terrible at the next polling day. She's killing her own carbon tax gonig this path.

With you all the way on this one. The carbon tax is just a way of avioding a major revolt. If the government were to announce that GST woould be increased by 2.5% there would be chaos in Canberra, mayhem an Melbourne and sackings in Sydney. But to cleverly disguise an ETS (extra tax scam) tax that has no bearing whatsoever on global warming, to which if Australia contributes at all, it would be like saying the diameter of a hair makes the difference to the distance when walking across the Gateway bridge, and with scientific evidence by the bucket load supporting that we, the people are not contributing to global warming whatsoever, it is all cosmic, not human caused. Sure, we need to do something about pollution, but a scam tax is not going to make one bit of difference to that either. Put your money-grubbing fingers back in your own pockets, Julia and stop trying to pick ours

Labour federally and in NSW are financially and politically bankrupt. In NSW I was actually still going to vote labour, because for all their ills, they were on the record as not going to sell off the electricity assets. But two days from becoming a care taker government, in the stealth of the night, we get the sell off by Premier Kenneally. With $2.6B of this going to pay of some mysterious debt in two companies, with Labour most assuredly going to lose the next NSW election, one can only speculate as to what the hidden agenda was and why the sell off - what is being hidden?

Can you trust people who are not ethical? One only has to see the adverts on TV from labour, talking about work choices to see how unethical labour is. Not only is it a scare campaign, but they are graspin at straws picking on an old Federal issue, to push their 'don't trust Barry' message. But who would ever trust such unethical behaviour re sell off of electricity and re advertising etc.

With the Federal labour, things are a whole lot worse ofcourse. They have ripped hundreds of millions out of Australia already to pay third world despots like Mugabe on some contrived trumped up global warming con. But the main thrust of the new tax is to get some money into the coffers before they loose office as the figures must be frightening, and will eventually come home to roost. It will be like another Ansett scam - they collect the money, and never pay it out. There will be no accounting, as with all of labours failed programs to date.

The comments about the good people who went to protest in Canberra are typical of a government that has no policy, makes decisions not based on policy, and plays the man not the ball, when held up to account.

I am personally embarrassed at having such a leader as Gillard for this great nation of Australia - we are becoming a laughing stock, and we are also becoming a basket case, as illegals flood our shores, and the tax paying worker is seeing all his work disipate to pay for the excesses of Labour, in Federal and State.

Very well said Barnaby.
I couldn't make it to Canberra for the rally, would of loved to have been there to give my support, but will be at another rally that is just around the corner. People I feel are just so sick and tired of having to put their hands in their pockets for basically nothing. Cost of living is going beyond a lot of ordinary people and it just seems to get worse. Lets hope we are all successful in stooping this stupid tax.

This is from Jo Novas' website ;

We are being deceived

Perth Protest Anti Carbon Tax Rally
My speech at the Anti-tax Carbon rally, Wednesday March 23rd.

I used to be a Green. I used to think Carbon dioxide mattered. I still worry about falling fish stocks, old growth forest and erosion, but wind farms won’t help the fish, and solar cells won’t keep the top soil from blowing away. Real environmental problems are being sidelined by fake ones.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I thought I was well informed, but I was shocked when I found out how what was going on behind the scenes. Everything you may have heard about carbon dioxide can be turned inside out.

How many excuses does it take?

CO2 feeds plants. It’s the only” pollution” pumped onto farms to grow food. Did you know plant life goes dormant if CO2 falls too low? Farmers don’t just pump in an extra 5 or 10% either, they ramp up the concentration 4 or 5 fold in greenhouses. Did the government scientists forget to mention that?
Australia is the largest exporter of coal in the world. But did they say that China digs up nearly 10 times more coal than we do?
The famous ice core graphs of Al Gore — expanded to 20 meters square — turned out to show the opposite of what he claimed. Temperatures drive carbon and lead it by 800 years. Worse,iIt was well known, and not contested two years before he made his movie.
Global warming stopped, and none of the models predicted that.
The endless droughts — ended.
All that CO2 and Global storms hit their lowest level for 30 years.
And you have to wonder: nearly 90% of the thermometers in the US are too close to artificial heat sources. 90%. How much do the climate science team care about the science?
75% of thermometers used in the 1980’s have dropped off the official record. All that money, and less instruments to measure with…
They adjust the data — sometimes 50 years after it was recorded. Think about that. The 1970’s kept warming for the next 30 years.
3000 ocean buoys looked and couldn’t find most of the missing heat that our planet is supposed to be storing.
6000 boreholes tell us the world was warmer 1000 years ago, and even warmer again 5000 years ago. None of the models can explain that.
all the models predict a hot spot, and 28 million weather balloons can’t find it;
31,500 scientists don’t think we need a carbon tax. That includes 9000 phd’s. There’s a grassroots revolt going on out there. This was done by volunteers, and done twice. There’s never been another petition like it in science, ever. Did the media forget to tell you that too?
For every dollar paid to a skeptic, big government paid 3500 to global warmers.
It’s a topsy-turvey world out there:
We all have better things to do than come along today, but when the people who represent us call fertilizer “pollution”, and label the volunteers “stooges”, while they call the paid hacks “independent”; when they look at a color chart and say yellow is red, … and they call us “deniers”… we know things are running of the rails. When they ask us to pay billions to change the weather, then we know the train’s off the cliff. And when even they admit the results will be too small to measure (how many thousandth of a degree will that be, Julia?) sometimes we just have to do something don’t we?

We can act now or pay the cost for years to come.
Each time we let them get away with an untruth they grow stronger. Each time we ignore the Orwellian perversion of our language, we feed the parasites who want our freedom and our money, and that hurts us, our children and the environment.

They call themselves modern “scientists”, but break laws of reason known to ancient Greeks. They tell us there will be endless droughts, and then when people drown in floods, they say “we told you the rain was coming”.

They want us to emit less CO2, and tell us we need a free market to do it, (if they only knew what that was) then they do everything they can to fix that market – they fix the price and compensate the “voters”. Isn’t one of the most basic things about the free market, that we are free to chose what we buy? Isn’t the idea — that anyone has the opportunity to buy at the best price? Will the masses have a choice? No. And will we all have a chance to pay the same for the carbon tithe? No, they’ll give breaks to trade- exposed exporters, and to domestic-exposed employers, and to low-income earners, and to medium-wage holders, and “to our friends, our fans, and our favourite marginal seats”. It’s another chance to crony up the country.

Speaking of corruption
Like any human endeavor, science can be corrupted, and sadly it has been. Billions of dollars was poured into one side of the scientific equation. Monopolies don’t work in business, and they don’t work in science either. But these foreign science committees have so much say over our economy — who audits them? No one. It was ripe for the picking. Big-government paid $79 billion to find a crisis, and what a surprise… we got what we paid for. They found one.

In fairyland greenomics, everyone gets jobs, and no one has to pay
Only the evil polluters will pay.

If you’re a low income earner, you’ll pay more for your petrol, so in theory, you’ll use less of it, right? But wait, the government says it will compensate you too, so it doesn’t cost you more, which means you’ll use just as much as ever… oh, doesn’t that muck up that plan… but here’s the catch, even if you get compensated, someone somewhere will have to pay the tax. It’s not just the tax either, but paying for a whole class of people: the auditors of the tax, and architects of the corporate renewable plans, and the renewable energy certificate schemes, and the brokers to buy the credits, and the marketing gurus to sell the schemes, and the government departments to manage the rules.

They want us to think it’s just the nasty big polluter will make less profit, … but corporations are groups of people. Groups of owners, groups of people who want their product, groups of people who need the jobs. When greens strike down the evil polluters, they are striking down everyone in that chain.

And some people might still think that they won’t pay, but we are all consumers, employees, or stockholders with one degree of separation. When the corporation loses income, they have to cancel your son-in-laws job contract, reduce the dividend on the shares to the shareholders and the stock price falls in your super plan. The compensation won’t cover that. That’s when you know that no matter who you are, the person who pays for the “tax” is still the same schmuck who pays all the other taxes. You.

They want us to pay billions to change the weather. It’s time to tell them: No.

No thank you, No, we don’t want to!
Ladies and Gentlemen, the tribal witchdoctors are at work. For tens of thousands of years they have been saying “Pay us your tithe — we will stop the storms.” Nothing has changed. They swapped the rune stones and tea leaves for simulators and models. They still can’t predict the weather three weeks from now.

There are white lies, and big lies, and lies that matter:
Back in August 2010 Julia Gillard obviously thought the Australian people would not have wanted a carbon tax, or she would have run her campaign on it. Instead she thought we’d want an ineffectual climate committee and the certainty of knowing a carbon tax would not be imposed before another election. This was an election that went down the line: 72 – 72. Seven ALP seats were won with less than a 2% margin.

In Corangamite, a mere 400 voters who didn’t want a carbon tax could have changed the leadership of the nation.
This is not just a “lie”, it’s deception writ large. The Australian public were never given the chance to vote on this issue. There was never a discussion about the benefits. It was not a debate topic. The commentators and opinion writers did not thrash out the costs and risks.

This is not how democracies are supposed to work.

This is so much bigger than just “climate change”.
Government is a self-propagating organism. It will grow until something stops it growing. What stops it growing? Us. The government will get as big as we let it. They will take as much as we will put up with: as much as they can get away with.

If we don’t say NO. They will just ask for more.

We don’t just need to pay tax. We need to pay attention.

Man made climate change....it may be the truth!

A quick examination of the following document, readily accessible from

the United Nations website, may change your view on this debate.

Document Information:

File Name: Ch_XXVI_1

Volume: Vol 2

Chapter: Chapter XXVI. Disarmament

Title: 26.1. Convention on the prohibition of military or any other hostile

use of environmental modification techniques.
New York, 10 December 1976.

Some excerpts from this document are:

Article 1.1 Each State Party to this convention undertakes not to engage

in military or any other hostile use of environmental modification

techniques having widespread, long-lasting or severe effects as the

means of destruction, damage or injury to any other State Party.

Article 11. As used in Article 1, the term "environmental modification

techniques" refers to any technique for changing - through the deliberate

manipluation of natural processes- the dynamics, composition or

structure of the earth, including its biota, lithosphere, hydrosphere and

atmosphere, or of outer space.

Now, why would such a treaty be deemed necessary if the technology

was just fantasy? According to my research this treaty came into being after it was revealed that the US military used weather control techniques to induce monsoonal rains over the Ho Chi Min Trail in an effort to hinder supplies to the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war.

Makes you wonder just how much R&D, and perhaps testing, has been done over the last 40 years......

Barnaby, can you find out if Australia is a signatory to this treaty?

I wonder just how many of our current policy-makers are aware of its existence, and possible implications on so-called "climate change". Can't see a global tax on carbon helping our planet much, if the real culprits are those to whom this treaty is directed.

Hi, I thought that I would throw another log on the fire, just to keep the warming debate going so to speak. Below is a copy of an email sent to me, a lot of supporters may have already seen this already but here goes anyway, hope there is room to include it on the site. Anyway, Keep up the good work Barnaby, you have a lot more friends out here than you may believe. At least we have one honest politician out there for Queensland. P.S. I have copied, what I have read so far on your site and I am passing it onto friends who will enjoy the read. Regards Ian

Subject: FW: How Well Has The Media And Government Informed The Public About CO2 Levels In The Air?

AND THE SKY IS NOT GOING TO FALL IF WE DO NOT PAY MORE TAXES - ie CARBON TAX!!!
(the government might!!)

AS WAS SAID IN AN EMAIL SOME YEARS AGO - THE BIGGEST CON JOB SINCE THE 'MILLINIUM BUG'!

And the rich will get richer by trading in intangible, untouchable, unproveable 'HOT AIR' - TAXING THE AIR WE BREATHE ( after land & water, what else was left to con us on??)

Hitler said, “How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think”.
I strongly urge you all to read this article, although lengthy, as it explains everything that the media DOES NOT...
We are faced with our Government trying very hard to introduce a CARBON TAX, and it would appear succeeding ...find out exactly why its all smoke and mirrors ... just a money grab ... and we will be paying forever.

How Well Has The Media And Government Informed The Public About CO2 Levels In The Air?
Ask yourself, your friends, family and work associates if they know the answers to the following questions about Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Be sure to write your answers before looking at the following.
Question 1. What percentage of the atmosphere do you think is CO2?
Question 2. Have you ever seen the percentage given in any media?
Question 3. What percentage of the CO2 is man-made?
Question 4. What percentage of the man-made CO2 does Australia produce?
Question 5. Is CO2 a pollutant?
Question 6. Have you ever seen any evidence that CO2 causes a greenhouse effect?
I have asked over 100 people these questions. Virtually everyone says they don’t know the answers so ask them to tell you what their perception is by what they have learnt from the media, the government and Green groups. Let them know there is no right or wrong answer as you are just doing a survey as to what people have perceived the answers to be from these sources.
The answers to these questions are fundamental to evaluating the global warming scare YET almost no one knows the facts. However, without this knowledge we can’t make an informed decision about whether Climate Change is natural or not.
On the following pages are respondent’s perceptions followed by the correct answers. The bulk of the respondents (over 100 to date) are educated fairly well to very well. They comprise business managers in a diversity of large and small companies, those in medical profession, accounting, law, sales, engineering as well as scientists and trades people.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
Q1. What % of the air is CO2?
Respondent’s Answers: nearly all were 20% - 40%, the highest was 75% while the lowest were 10%- 2%.
The Correct Answer: CO2 is less than a mere four 100ths of 1%! As a decimal it is 0.038%. As a fraction it is 1/27th of 1%. (Measurements for CO2 vary from one source to another from 0.036%- 0.039% due to the difficulty in measuring such a small quantity and due to changes in wind direction e.g. whether the air flow is from an industrialized region or a volcanic emission etc)
Nitrogen is just over 78%, Oxygen is just under 21% and Argon is almost 1%. CO2 is a minute trace gas at 0.038%. We all learnt the composition of the air in both primary and high school but because most people don’t use science in their day to day living, they have forgotten this. Also, the vast bulk of the population have very little knowledge of science so they find it impossible to make judgements about even basic scientific issues let alone ones as complex as climate. This makes it easy for those with agendas to deceive us by using emotive statements rather than facts. For a detailed breakup of the atmosphere go to:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_Earth#Composition

Q2. Have you seen a percentage for CO2 given in the media?
Respondent’s answers: All said ’No’.

Q3. What % of CO2 do humans produce?
Respondent’s answers ranged from as high as 100% with most estimating it to be between 75% to 25% and only four said they thought it was between 10% and 2 %.
The Correct Answer: Nature produces nearly all of it. Humans produce only 3%. As a decimal it is a miniscule 0.001% of the air. All of mankind produces only one molecule of CO2 in around every 90,000 air molecules! Yes, that’s all.

Q4. What % of man-made CO2 does Australia produce?
Respondent’s Answers ranged from 20% to 5%.
The Correct Answer is 1% of the 0.001% of man-made CO2. As a decimal it is an insignificant 0.00001% of the air. That’s one, one-hundredth thousandth of the air. That is what all the fuss is about! That’s one CO2 molecule from Australia in every 9,000,000 molecules of air. It has absolutely no affect at all.

We have been grossly misled to think there is tens of thousands of times as much CO2 as there is!
Why has such important information been withheld from the public? If the public were aware that man-made CO2 is so incredibly small there would be very little belief in a climate disaster so the media would not be able to make a bonanza from years of high sales by selling doomsday stories. Governments and Green groups would not be able to justify a carbon tax that will greatly raise the cost of everything. Major international banks and the stock market would not make massive profits out of carbon trading and many in the science community would not be getting large research grants.

Q5. Is CO2 a pollutant?
Respondent’s Answers: All thought it was a pollutant, at least to some degree.
The Correct Answer: CO2 is a harmless, trace gas. It is as necessary for life - just as oxygen and nitrogen are. It is a natural gas that is clear, tasteless and odourless. It is in no way a pollutant.
Calling CO2 a ‘pollutant’ leads many to wrongly think of it as black, grey or white smoke. Because the media deceitfully show white or grey ‘smoke’ coming out of power station cooling towers, most think this is CO2. It is not: it’s just steam (water vapour) condensing in the air. CO2 is invisible: just breathe out and see. Look at it bubbling out of your soft drinks, beer or sparkling wine. No one considers that a pollutant - because it’s not. CO2 in its frozen state is commonly known as dry ice. It is used in camping eskys, in medical treatments and science experiments. No one considers that a pollutant either. CO2 is emitted from all plants. This ‘emission’ is not considered a pollutant even though this alone is 33 times more than man produces! Huge quantities of CO2 are dissolved naturally in the ocean and released from the warm surface. This is not considered a pollutant either.
The two large cooling towers are emitting only steam. A tiny amount of CO2 is trickling out of the thin chimney at centre. It is only barely visible due to a small quantity of smoke particles, most of which is filtered out nowadays. The media doesn’t like to show skinny CO2 chimneys emitting nothing visible because this is unimpressive and not the least bit emotive so it doesn’t make for sensationalist journalism. So they typically choose to deceive the public by showing cooling towers.

Q6. Have you seen any evidence that CO2 causes a greenhouse effect?
Respondent’s Answers: Most did not know of any definite proof. Some said they thought the melting of the Arctic and glaciers was possibly proof.
The Correct Answer: There is no proof at all. The Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (the IPCC) has never produced any proof. There are, however the following proofs that it can’t cause a greenhouse effect.
• It is true that CO2 can absorb heat a little faster than nitrogen and oxygen but it becomes no hotter because it cannot absorb anymore heat than there is available to the other gases. This is against the laws of thermodynamics. All gases share their heat with the other gases. Gas molecules fly around and are constantly colliding with other gas molecules so they immediately lose any excess heat to other molecules during these collisions. That’s why the air is all one temperature in any limited volume.
• Even if CO2 levels were many times higher, radiative heating physics shows that it would make virtually no difference to temperature because it has a very limited heating ability. With CO2, the more there is, the less it heats because it quickly becomes saturated. For a detailed explanation go to: http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/greenhouse_data.html

The following facts show that even high levels of CO2 can make almost no impact on heating the atmosphere.
1. Glasshouses with high levels of CO2 - hundreds of times higher than in the air to make plants grow faster – heat up during the day to the same temperature as glasshouses with air in them. This is also true for bottles of pure CO2 compared to ones with air.
2. The planets Venus and Mars have atmospheres that are almost entirely CO2 (97%) yet they have no ‘runaway’ greenhouse heating effect. Their temperatures are stable.
3. The geological record over hundreds of millions of years has shown that CO2 has had no affect whatsoever on climate. At times, CO2 was hundreds of times higher, yet there were ice ages.
4. In recent times when Earth was considerably warmer during the Roman Warming and the Medieval Warming, the higher temperatures then were totally natural because there was no industrialization back then.
5. Water vapour is 4% of the air and that‘s 100 times as much as CO2. Water vapour absorbs 33 times as much heat as CO2 making CO2’s contribution insignificant. But like CO2, water vapour also gives this heat away to air molecules by contact (conduction) and radiation, thereby making the surrounding air the same temperature.
6. The Earth’s atmosphere is very thin so its heat is continually being lost to the absolute coldness of outer space (-270 C). As there is no ‘ceiling’ to the atmosphere, surface heat cannot be retained. The Sun renews warmth every day.
7. Over the last few years Earth has had much colder winters due to very few magnetic storms on the Sun. These four increasingly colder winters have been particularly noticeable in the northern hemisphere where most of the land is. Because of this, the Arctic has re-frozen and glaciers that were receding are now surging due to the heavy snow falls. The Arctic showed some melting around its edges from the mid 90s to the mid 2000s due to the very high level of solar storm activity at that time. But as the Sun is now entering probably 2-4 decades of low solar activity, this is expected to cause global cooling. For more detail, see the following page.

The climate has always been naturally cyclic and variable due to numerous natural drivers of which CO2 is not one. Over millions of years the climate has shown far greater changes in the geological record than we have seen over the last 200 hundred years - and there was no industrialization back then. The very minor variations we have witnessed over the last 100 years have all occurred several times even in that short period. Today’s changes in climate are common and completely natural. There are now over 50 books that provide numerous reasons why man-made global warming is false.

The Effect of the Sun on Earth’s climate
It has long been known that the Sun is by far the major driver of all weather on Earth because it is the source of all heat and energy. There is absolutely no real-world evidence that the temperature has continually risen as we were led to believe. The hottest records in the USA and Greenland were in the 1930s due to a strong solar cycle. It became cooler from 1940 to 1970. This was due to a weak solar cycle. It has again become increasingly colder since 2006 due to another weak solar cycle. The Sun’s magnetic storm activity has now moved to an extended minimum so the next 2-4 maximums are expected to be much weaker than the last few have been. By 2011 the solar cycle should have risen half way back to its 11 year maximum but it hasn’t! It’s only just started. The last time the Sun acted this way was during the Dalton Minimum from 1790 to 1830 which produced 40 years of very cold winters with subdued, wetter summers globally - just as we are experiencing now. From 1450 -1750 a more intense Maunder Minimum occurred which caused the Little Ice Age. The next 2-4 solar cycles will very likely be low in solar activity causing noticeably cooler global temperatures for a few decades.
For details see: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/02/02/solar-cycle-24-update
and http://www.climatechangedenier.com.au/climate-change/another-dalton-minimum/
The effect of the current Solar Minimum is particularly obvious in the northern hemisphere where increasingly colder winter temperatures have caused massive snow falls disrupting transportation across Europe, Asia and the US.
Despite more than a decade of continual doomsday predictions of increasing temperatures and never-ending drought globally, the opposite has happened. There have been lower temperatures globally with greatly increased rain and snows over much of the planet since 2006. This has caused floods across most of Australia and most other counties, as seen on the TV news. This ended the global 10 year drought conditions from the mid 90s to the mid 2000s. There has been no drop in CO2 to cause this: in fact, CO2 has risen. There is no correlation between CO2 levels and climate. The reason CO2 levels have gone up a little is most likely due to the surface of the oceans warming very slightly during the later half of the century and therefore releasing a little CO2. (The oceans are currently cooling very slightly.) Mankind’s contribution to CO2 is so small it’s not measurable.

Polls on Climate Change
Polls in western countries now show that believers in man-made global warming are now in the minority with a sizable percentage of over 20% who “don’t know” if CO2 is causing any change. The obvious change to a cooler, wetter climate combined with the revelations of climate fraud shown by the Climategate emails has led to the change in public perception. Polls asking people what is the most important threat to them out of a list of 20 issues, place global warming at the bottom!
Popular beliefs are not fact
The bulk of the population of the western world believed that the 2000 Bug would destroy much of our technology on New Year’s Eve 2000 yet not one disaster occurred anywhere. We were told CFCs caused the Ozone ‘hole’ yet after billions of dollars were spent removing CFCs over 30 years, the slight depletion of Ozone at the South Pole has not changed. Scientists now think it is natural. Popular beliefs are often based on blind faith, ideology and profit rather than proven scientific evidence. History is littered with popular consensuses that were wrong. (Mohammad said, a terrorised people are easier to control).
A Carbon Tax
Taxing CO2 achieves nothing for the environment; in fact, it deprives real environmental issues from receiving funds. A carbon tax will have a disastrous impact on lower and middle income earners. Even if drastic measures were imposed equally on all countries around the world to reduce the total human CO2 contribution by as much as 30%, this would reduce total CO2 by an insignificant percentage. It would have no affect whatsoever on the climate but it would totally destroy the economies of every country and dramatically lower everyone’s living standards. Most people and politicians are making decisions emotively, not factually about a complex science they know virtually nothing about.

Dear Barnaby,

I don't know of any other politician than you who dares to voice a rational and scientifically sane perspective against 'The Church Of Carbon Tax and AGW' and its deluded and aggressive leaders and their followers.

Please, don't stop speaking out/putting up a good fight against all these fools.

--
P.S.
Maybe you can find the occasional opportunity to mention, if you are so inclinded, something to the effect of that: We - or industrialized nations - should try to make ourselves independent on oil-based energy from nations in which particularly nasty and oppressive regimes and cultures (the latter upheld with no less insane rationales in the form of religious dogma) - cultures/nations of the Middle East that have been (and still might be) sponsors of and breeding-grounds of international terrorism in the name of Islam.

P.P.S
All religions, any forms of religiosity, and any power structure or social hierarchy built from and around a irrational and fanatic mindsets and blind beliefs are also thoroughly explainable and understandable through a relatively simple and evolutionary psychology type analysis and argumentation in tandem with relevant facts of human psychology (e.g. our entire spectrum of primal needs), brain functions, and social history.

I wonder if you can ask the Minister for climate change, why he signed
600 million $'s during the Mexico summit, to give to the UN climate change
fund, to assist third world countries to repair the damage due to climate change caused by us? Administered by the UN.

Lord Monckton is coming to Oz in July, to talk again about this. How does this government think they are going to pay for this, what by a carbon tax?
And let those UN IPCC frauds administer it?

Vatican-appointed panel warns of climate change
(AP) – 5 days ago

VATICAN CITY (AP) — A Vatican-appointed panel of scientists has reported what climate change experts have been warning for years: the Earth is getting warmer, glaciers are melting, and urgent measures are necessary to stem the damage.

The scientists called for urgent reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and reductions in methane and other pollutants that warm the air, and for improved observation of mountain glaciers to better track their changes.

The Pontifical Academy of Sciences, a Vatican advisory panel, hosted a conference last month on the causes and consequences of retreating mountain glaciers. Its final report, dated May 5 and signed by independent glaciologists, climate scientists, meteorologists and chemists, was posted on the Vatican website Tuesday.

"We appeal to all nations to develop and implement, without delay, effective and fair policies to reduce the causes and impacts of climate change on communities and ecosystems, including mountain glaciers and their watersheds, aware that we all live in the same home," the report said.

"We are committed to ensuring that all inhabitants of this planet receive their daily bread, fresh air to breathe and clean water to drink as we are aware that, if we want justice and peace, we must protect the habitat that sustains us."

The Vatican spokesman, Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the document was "important" but is not a piece of the church's key teachings and merely reflects the conclusions of the independent scientists involved.

That said, he noted that it was a "significant scientific contribution" to the concerns that Pope Benedict XVI has voiced in both his encyclicals and public statements.

Benedict has been dubbed the "green pope" for his environmental concerns: In 2008, the Vatican installed photovoltaic cells on the roof of its main auditorium. A year later it installed a solar cooling unit for its main cafeteria. The Vatican has also joined a reforestation project aimed at offsetting its CO2 emissions.

Brenda Ekwurzel, the assistant director of climate research and analysis at the Union of Concerned Scientists, a Cambridge, Massachusettss-based think tank, said the report was a "straightforward recap of major known findings about glaciers," that was penned by high-caliber scientists. She highlighted one significant point in the report's title and throughout; it refers to the new geologic "era" of human modification of the world, known as "Anthropocene."

"Perhaps the reality that the Vatican recognizes this fact, as the report indicates, is worth mentioning to those who remain unconvinced of human-induced climate change," Ekwurzel said in an email.

I have posted a link on Barnaby's email to reports showing how the "Global Warming" experts are changing their reports and now its called"Climate Change"
not Global Warming because the temperature of the earth has gone DOWN the last 10 years or so.
Read how according to samples taken from the Vostock polar station going back over 400,000 years about 800 years AFTER a mini ice age we get a increase in CO2 AND a increase in temperature.

Well that should be easy. Just look on page II (2) of the Commission's
Report they had added a disclaimer!

IMPORTANT NOTICE - PLEASE READ.

They are prepared to admit the report may contain inaccuracies and they can't be held responsible. Obviously covering their backs against any law suits in the future. What scientific report adds that, when this government
would not know a cloud from a cow pat. Write to the press, and politicians
I have including Rob Oakshott, Tony Windsor, Mr Abbott and Bob Katter.

I can't believe that Combet committed Australia to $600 million for the UN
Climate Change Fund last December at cancun conference. They never
touched climate change just how could they compensation poor countries
for the damage the bigger richer countries are creating. To be distributed
by those UN frauds. Wouldn't he had been better to put that money back into the budget? No mention of it. Or putting that $600 million towards
clean energy (if there is any) development and Sustainability projects?

Keep at them Mr Joyce! Because some of those representatives wouldn't know the difference between a cow pat and a cloud! Particularly the member for Lynne!

The people who contributed included the IPCC and also Michael Mann (Hide the decline) hockey stick.

One reason why the Carbon “Pollution” Tax needs to be binned. AGW IS ‘Crap’. Let’s have a look at what the owners of the temperature satellites over at NASA have to say:

“Unlike the surface-based temperatures, global temperature measurements of the Earth’s lower atmosphere obtained from satellites reveal no definitive warming trend over the past two decades. The slight trend that is in the data actually appears to be downward. The largest fluctuations in the satellite temperature data are not from any man-made activity, but from natural phenomena such as large volcanic eruptions from Mt. Pinatubo, and from El Niño. So the programs which model global warming in a computer say the temperature of the Earth’s lower atmosphere should be going up markedly, but actual measurements of the temperature of the lower atmosphere reveal no such pronounced activity.”

NO WARMING. NADA.

“How do we know the Satellite Data are Correct?
In theory, one could argue that the computer models are accurate, and that the real measurements have some problem. However this is not the case. An incredible amount of work has been done to make sure that the satellite data are the best quality possible. Recent claims to the contrary by Hurrell and Trenberth have been shown to be false for a number of reasons, and are laid to rest in the September 25th edition of Nature (page 342). The temperature measurements from space are verified by two direct and independent methods. The first involves actual in-situ measurements of the lower atmosphere made by balloon-borne observations around the world. The second uses intercalibration and comparison among identical experiments on different orbiting platforms. The result is that the satellite temperature measurements are accurate to within three one-hundredths of a degree Centigrade (0.03 C) when compared to ground-launched balloons taking measurements of the same region of the atmosphere at the same time.”

MORE ACCURATE THAN AGW VOODOO.

“So What is Going On?
The atmosphere is extremely complex in its behavior. Because of this, finding the correct explanation for the behavior we observe is complex as well. Virtually all scientists will agree that a doubling of the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere should have some effect on the temperature of the Earth. But it is much less certain how or if we will recognize the effects of this increase. There are several reasons:
First, the influence of a man-made doubling of the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is small compared to the Earth’s natural cooling rate, on the order of only a percent.
Second, there is a much more important greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, namely water vapor. Water vapor over the Earth is extremely variable, both in space and in time.
Third, the ways in which clouds and water vapor feed back and ultimately influence the temperature of the Earth are, at best, poorly understood.
Fourth, while the whole Earth is indeed in a state that scientists describe as “radiative equilibrium,” where the incoming sunlight equals the outgoing infrared radiation to provide a roughly constant overall temperature, the surface is far from this radiative balance condition. Evaporation and convection processes in the atmosphere transport heat from the surface to the upper troposphere, where it can be much more efficiently radiated into space since it is above most of the greenhouse-trapping water vapor. So in short, it is this convective overturning of the atmosphere – poorly represented in computer models of global warming – that primarily determines the temperature distribution of the surface and upper troposphere, not radiation balance.”

No warming for nearly THREE decades now. Have people gone mad?

Barnaby I am with you all the way. I have been phoning radio stations sometimes daily because I am so furious with the Government and its lack of credibility in almost every area they touch. I lived in Canberra for 25 years and had links to the Parliament, and I can truly say I have never seen so many amateur people in the cabinet.
Julie Gillard is not a leader and every week something else is released on so many topics that you would get giddy trying to keep up with them ....and she simply does not lead a credible Government.
I am appalled at the way she became leader of her Party and the inaccurate stories her Government weave. I do not accept the drama of Ross Garnaut's Report., and do not agree he is impartial. He and the labour party honestly think that people who disagree with them are 'nitwits' for not backing them. They are lightweights as far as I am concerned. Garnaut and Flannery will not debate the issue with scientists who have another point of view.

Barnaby....I spent 20 years of my life in the NZ army as a combat soldier fighting to protect innocent people from being demonised, bullied and butchered in unspeakable ways and burying many good people who died knowing that their death was for what they believed in...fighting for what was right..at any cost ...

After I left the forces in 2002 I moved what was left of my family to brisbane to start a business and just be a normal member of society...For myself and everyone who matters, its really difficult to see the deaths of the young soldiers from australia trying to protect those who are innocent yet will continue to fight and die, because its what we do ..

Why do the lucky ones who return to australia find themselves faced with a leadership of decietfulness not un-similar to those they have just faced..How can these poor buggers not feel betrayed and sold out by govt who is demonising any one who dares to question the validity of a carbon tax that has no measurement of success other than to destroy everything this country has worked so hard to create...

The biggest unforgivable insult is the lies to gain power..then the lies to implement what can only be described as "The ultimate death blow" by any govt then of course there are those who know this is a blattant lie yet will stand and face the nation and look them in the eye and say whatever is necessary at any cost ...To those who have sold out their people, and you know who you are..and so do we...there are battles you will win through your deciept, but be assured there are also battles you dont want to have...when elderly people start dying from cold and malnutrition...and they will....i hope you sleep well..

Dear Barnaby
Firstly keep up your spirits and thankyou all the good work you are trying to do by giving the majority of Australians a voice in the midst of this Carbon Tax fiasco/hoax.
What l find most disturbing is the incredible disconnect of the media with the feelings of the Australian people at present over this issue.
There is real anger and frustration amongst everyone l know and talk to, even labor voters and yet this incredible groundswell of feeling is being ignored and even sublimated by the media which seems to have become a political arm of the government..
The Canberra press gallery’s unwillingness to ask the hard questions reveals a poverty of intellectual journalistic pursuit .
As they say in real journalism…”follow the money”.
Who is going to profit from the Carbon Dioxide Tax?
A government which is ethically bankrupt and now needs to recoup money which has been squandered?
Who has sold themselves out? Who has invested substantially in a “green”company promoting a new technology which promotes relatively untried energy extraction technology from deep hot rocks on the Australian stock exchange and which was heavily subsidised by our Labor government to the tune of $90 million dollars and which now is worth a fraction of that money. All those hard earned tax payer dollars nearly gone! What well known independent is accumulating land holdings to sell out to foreign investors seeking an advantage over our resources?
Mr Al Gore himself is a partner in Kleiner Perkins which has invested a BILLION dollars in numerous ETS investment schemes/ vehicles . Us senator Marsha Blackburn revealed this in a senate enquiry where she questioned Mr Gore on this, and the actual questioning is available on Youtube. Mr Gore is also on the board of Google.
On the home front, l despair at the now very obviously biased ABC which derides and ridicules those that have the opposite view day in and day out. We are being hammered by a world view and a smarmy attitude which has become like a gag on all of the rest of us.
We can’t speak.
We are afraid to speak.
We are not allowed to speak.
Save us from this intolerable Carbon Tax!

Thank you for being sane and not buying this global warming THEORY / Religion. There are over 33,000 scientists suing Al Gore for distorting scientific data, they have also had their research distorted to suit the global warming theory.

If this tax were introduced they will put out more boogieman stories and raise the tax, when would this tax be removed? Never.

In the 70's doomsday scientists proclaimed if we did nothing there will be an ice age within the next 30 years. Now some of the same remaining scientists are claiming exactly the opposite.

Carbon is essential to life plants breathe it and provide oxygen.
Cold = no plants = no life.

This proposed Carbon Dioxide Tax is the biggest attack on the living standards of working people in my life time. Govt should be there to provide police, health, schools and defense(and support for our neediest). This tax is primarily designed for social reengineering, not the environment and the result will be to increase the power of those who produce nothing including unaccountable government and reduce the power and living standards of those who produce the nation's wealth. If this gets through the day of the introduction of the Carbon Tax will be a dark day indeed!

Ask Julia Gillard
(1) What percentage of carbon tax would go to paying salaries of bureaucrats to administer that tax, including administering alleged refunds to households.
(2) How would households get the refund?
(3) Complexity of refund forms?
(4) Time taken to get refunds?

It's a great shame that you and your coalition colleagues have decided to mislead the people of Australia and, in doing so, make addressing atmospheric pollution a political issue. If I felt that it was a genuine position based on conviction, science and good sense, I would be less concerned. However, it is clear to me that it is purely a short-sighted strategy to play on the fears of people in the lead up to a major structural change in our national economy: a change that only a progressive government has the courage to implement.
The people of Australia deserve better than you.

Barnaby,

It was refreshing to hear you interviewed on Newcastle ABC 1233 and have someone actually introduce facts into this carbon tax debate.

The tax is utterly futile and the majority of Australians can see it but our government won't listen and the left biased media tries to spin everything against reason.

Keep up the good work, maintain the rage - as my job in the power generation industry is at stake. I really appreciate your efforts, Peter.

I went on to the No Carbon Tax site on Facebook yesterday and asked: How do measure a tonne of carbon? I got 4 replies, some very long winded and none of them make any sense to me.
I went on to Julia Gillards site and said she would be felling about as popular as a pimple on your bum.
There is a lot of rage and anger in the community about this ridiculous proposed tax.

Only 10% of Russians were members of the Communist Party

I read somewhere that only 10% of Russians were members of the commuinist party at the peak of the communist regime. If that statement is true, it is a scary thought as there are certain similarities with the current situation in Australia. We currently have a mob of bohemians in charge of the country with only 10% of the vote. The situation must be so bad, it even drove Julia to tears. I would also cry when you know you are not in charge any longer even when you have "The Boss" written behind your name.

Even scarier is the rumour that some unknown group called "getup" is actually in charge of Browns water mellons. Nobody knows anything about them, except that they are extremists. So much so that they were instrumental in the back stabbing of Rudd, etc.

This proposed carbon tax has nothing to do with the environment. It has all to do with the take over of our system of democracy by left wing extremists.

The danger is that if Julia is allowed to continue, we may well become the Sociallist Commonwealth of Australia.

The farmers will be starved out, Stalin style Wow! I never thought of it, until I typed the sentence. It is actually already happening.

Barnaby, I have been a fan of yours for a long time. Why is nobody openly telling the truth that Gillard probably did not want a carbon tax prior to the election but with her minority and in order to move to the lodge with Tim she would have done a deal with the devil to dispose the pope. The devil was not interested but here comes Brown who made it a condition that for his support she has to introduce a carbon tax. That coupled with Oakshott and Windsor is the disaster that we face. How can I help to spread the message?
I fear that you guys are also hindered as to what you can really say.

Please will you speak up about the TOTAL amount of man-made co2 that Australia emits. Forget about the amount per capita, we might be the highest but very low overall. I read a report in wikipedia that the top 10 countries emit 67% of the total global emissions. Australia came in at 16th with 1.32% of the total. Now the PM and co talk about cutting that 1.32% by 5-10%. A quick calculation at the 10% is 0.132%. Will that make any difference? I think not. It's laughable that these pollies think that the rest of us are stupid. It is an emotional blackmail. It is part of the "greens' agenda. It is how Labor got into government. The other beef I have is that we are told to cut our energy use. Well we have been cutting back for a few years now and the more we cut back the more we have to pay. When will this cycle end. We do have vast amounts of fuel including gas. It seems like they prefer to sell the gas to China than use it here. Gas fired power stations instead of coal would halve the emissions. The government has wasted billions of dollars with may hair brained schemes including the NBN. We could have had several gas-fired power stations. In the end the carbon tax is just that a tax with no environmental benefits. They are broke and need the money.

SBS TV, 8:30 pm, 9 Aug: whitewashing junk science

I watched this programme on 9 Aug because it promised to deal with 'global warming' among other 'scientific' subjects.
Because of an increasing public distrust in science, the caption of it was "Can Science* be Trusted?"

After one hour of hope for a balanced report, I came to the conclusion that it was a big whitewash of conventional institutional science, an insult to common sense and everyone with a scientific background (mine is in Physics).

To call the presentation naive is an understatement, ie while the ideals of science to rely on proven facts and data were held high, there was no consideration that facts on their own are meaningless as long as they are not seen in context with greater issues and/or without looking into the existence and importance of negative side effects.

For example, HIV was cited as being the cause of aids (whereas in reality it is a compromised immune system along which HIV occurs as one of the effects).
GM seeds and food were hailed as being progressive science that should be implemented "because it works to kill certain pests"; and global warming as a result of man-made activities was not doubted.

The documentary showed scientists being in the affirmative of the aforementioned examples, but did, eg, not bother to interview any one of those 32+ thousands scientists who signed a petition for the US and Canadian government last year, not to pursue carbon emission trading schemes or taxes, as the claimed scientific evidence for man-made and general global warming was simply not existent.

On climate change, an example of a computer model to predict short term (a few days) weather changes was presented to give credence to the computer modelling of global warming and climate changes in the long term future, as used by the IPCC (a non-scientific but political body) and Al Gore (a politician).

The statements and attitudes with which they were presented were highly unscientific.
An example on the subject of global warming is the revealed fraud (the so-called climate gate case ) that took place in the East Anglia university in England.
The respective scientist admitted that he had mixed data from different sources to counteract the naturally discontinued rise in global temperature and presented a steep rising curve instead (this was desired by the IPCC). The falsification of data and information could not have been more prominent.

All in all, I was reminded of 'science' in the Middle Ages, which gave 'scientific evidence' that the earth was the centre of the universe, and in the 19th century there was 'scientific evidence' that it would be fatal for humans to sit in a car at a speed greater than 16 km/h. Etc, etc.

*
Unfortunately, these days there are different kinds of science.

1. The classical Exact Sciences which follow the so-called scientific method, which is a set of strict rules, experiments, checks, counterchecks, verifications, retests, and public presentation with the invite to challenge and argue the presented results and theory on the basis of reason.

2. Junk Science which is carried on order of and for political, ideological, religious, industrial and financial interests. It leaves reason behind and presents superficial or false evidence.

3. Pseudo Science in which there is no adherence to the methodological requirements of exact science. The result is vague descriptions, untestable statements, an over-reliance on confirmation rather than refutation or falsifiability, and not open to testing by others.

4. Fringe Science is at the fringes of mainstream academic disciplines. It refers or develops unusual theories or models of discovery that have their basis in established scientific principles.

5. Scientism refers to limiting hypotheses to material explanations. It is counter to the practice of true (exact) science and thus is more of a speculative, unreasoned, philosophical attitude.

Dear Mr Joyce

I have always appreciated your rationality hence I'm hoping this message reaches you.

CLIMATE CHANGE EVEN IF TRUE IS NOT THE ISSUE On the face of it, to any thinking person at least, the carbon tax is nonsense.

The issue, and you only have to mention these two words and politicians dive for cover, is PEAK OIL. The facts are simple. We are running out of oil fast. Everything depends on oil. Transportation, food, clothes, plastics, medicines literally everything. The current economic meltdown is merely a symptom of an entire system in it's deathrows. Australia is well placed to survive peak oil (and I use the word survive in it's literal sense) and yet as of now it is never mentioned. It will as sure as the sun comes up devastate our economy and our lives and we are doing nothing about it. Australia needs to re-think it's economic model. We must become self sustaining in everything and fast and forget about a few fat cats getting rich by selling our irreplaceable natural resources off shore. The global economy will be dead soon anyway. It's the only way we even have a chance of survivng whats coming. Peak Oil is not a theory. It's a fact. Oil is finite. So what are the Nationals doing about it? Noah didn't wait for it to start raining before he built the ark.

Politicians dive for cover because it means an end to the business as usual model. We need to re-think everything from the bottom up. Everything oil has created (unsustainably) must be undone and re-engineered into a sustainable model. Concepts like greed, capitalism and growth are as extinct as the dinosaurs. In a nutshell most pollies simply cannot comprehend these concepts so they go into Ostrich mode and completely ignore it. maybe it will go away... To quote Dr Campbell. "Deal with reality of reality will deal with you."

The irony in all this is quite obvious. We are all worried about price increases because of carbon tax but when peak oil kicks in prices will go thorugh the roof anyway and I mean 100%+ increases. There will be supply shortages of food, fuel, water, electricity. Eventualy unless we prepare now, there will be no supply. In reality we are all going to be poorer but possibly, if we lucky, have happier more meaningful lives.

Why hasn't anybody written about the fact that rural and regional councils are classed as part of the 500 hundred big polluters.
Our local council will be up for about $1 million per year how will this be paid.
Will it be from reduced services, rate increases or a new levy all to be paid for by ratepayers.
There is no mention of compensation for the rate rises in fact there is no mention of any polluters other than the electricity industry or the coal miners who will be compensated
How about a list of all the 500 BIG POLLUTERS so we know where we ripped off

I don't think the Speaker in the Lower House should be allowed to throw dissenters shouting "NO CARBON TAX!" out of the Public Gallery, and then out of Parliament House altogether.

The people have spoken! Around 70% of us have said "NO!" Many thousands have returned their $12 million mailouts to Chairman Combet-Zedong, but still the Slave Labor Party don't seem to care what we want.

When Harry turfed the dissenters out, all our Labor pollies did was smile benevolently upward, as if they were observing naughty children. How insulting is that!

Well said, Sir. You are absolutely right Senator Joyce. It comes down to and doesn't get past Gillard's pre-electoral dishonesty of August 2010 that "There will be no carbon tax under any government that I lead".
The bungling idiocy of this politically and economically stupid scheme (drawn up by idiots who can't even spell "Enron", let alone do basic maths) are, in the scheme of things, just extra big, embarrassing sideshows to Gillard's electoral lying game.

With you on this one Barnaby. I am disappointed in the Prime Minister and her cabinet, with their "Take the Australian people for a ride while we line our pockets" attitude. I saw a bumper sticker the other day, which summed up my sentiments. "If Julia is the Answer, how stupid was the question?".

First we had global warming to battle. Then the lid was blown off that one when the body declaring that global warming was a continuing issue was caught fudging the figures. The agenda was not dropped when the lies were exposed. The name of the thing they are fighting was merely changed to "climate change". How stupid do these people think we are? Climate change has been happening since the world began and will continue to change while ever this little green planet orbits the sun. Look at the past 200 million years if you have any doubts, and see how many catastrophies have hit our little planet, including major extinctions, ice ages, you name it. If the weather can do it, it has been done. For more evidence, check the BOM site (before they fudge the figures once again). It states there were major floods the magnitude of 1974 and 2002 approximately every four years, in the latter half of the 19th century, and where was all the carbon emission & pollution that caused that? Don't tell me... horse farts instead of car farts.. right?

I don't believe it has anything to do with climate change at all. The government has blown out billions of dollars in debt and are using us, the tax payers, to fund their stupidity and uncontrolled spending habits and doing it in the name of saving the planet. They didn't have the guts to raise GST by 2.5% to cover their tracks. OoooH NOoooo! Instead, they spent billions of dollars on a campaign to get us to believe they could control nature by taxing us more. She has high aspirations, but is Godhood within her realm of capabilities? Not in this lifetime!

I read an article the other day, which stated that the carbon tax will only be controlled by Australia for a couple of years, after which time it will be handed over to the IMF or some other non-Australian monetary organisation to control and to suck our country dry. How much truth is in that and why are we not being told about it if it is true? The mind boggles at the implications of that one.

well I'm pretty well over it all, i am a man who has worked for 30 years since i was 15 and i cannot see for the life of me were this country is going. i am sick of the taxes , the bad mouthing of our mining industry and high income earners , yes i work in the mines and yes i earn i repeat earn my money working in an underground environment that most people wouldnt enter in fear of there lives, work in hostile environments and work hours that the city folks , greeies and there hippie mates would not believe, i love the industry and have no complaints . we work in areas that most of the above read in books and if they ever put there 4wds to the test and ventured out side of there cement cities they would see what they take for granted is a luxury for most of us in the country- e.g. dentist , hospital/medical, transport , fresh affordable food , people to maintain your home and car, quality schooling, yep we are high income earners but we earn it and pay the over the top taxes, royalties go to the cites for there free ways and ports, this all good of coarse but i wish they'd leave the miners, our so called carbon emissions/ climate change alone and find some other cause to pester and bang on about.
i am all for planting of trees and other energy sources including nuclear power.

we need strong positive leader ship at the helm of our country who can make a decision and sick to it. stop taxing the so called rich as we have high costs of living and families to support and in the end theres a few quid left over, its is our choice to live and work in the remote parts of australia but some one has to do it.
the green/labor government needs to go and an overall majority government needs to run the country and take us forward. in the mean time the workers will keep toiling away ,paying the taxes and keeping our export industry alive.

It seems a silly idea to tax Australian carbon emissions - all that does is drive carbon emissions, as well as jobs overseas - it disadvantages our exports and import exposed industries. I accept that we need to drastically reduce carbon emissions. I also believe that a price on carbon is the best way to do it. I'm convinced we should be taxing Australian consumers on the carbon they CONSUME - regardless of where it was emitted. This way Australian industry would not be unfairly disadvantaged. Also ALL compensation would be paid directly to consumers. The Labor scheme of paying compensation to trade exposed industries 1. is a sure fire way of causing corruption. 2. Defeats the whole purpose of taxing carbon

Really, the only place to stop CO2 emissions is at the source. We have brilliant scientists at CSIRO, at universities, additionally we have great experienced engineers, who can resolve this problem without the misinformation put out by ignorant politicians.
We must keep looking for the truth, ignore the emotional crap that is put out in our parliament and by manipulating half truths from left wing academics.
All politicians who are genuinely concerned about Australia and its people must join in a commonsense approach to solve these problems by evaluating what is the real problem, how urgent is a solution, and if there is a solution that can be put into effect without being twisted to enhance the aims of left wing socialism.

From what I heard, the Carbon prices will be as follows:

Australia: $23 a tonne

European Economic Union: $10 a tonne

China: around $1.65 a tonne

Be prepared for an economic levelling, with the real value of wages falling, the dole queues lengthening, welfare payments burgeoning, and foreign debt skyrocketing.

At the same time, asylum seekers will arrive in droves to take whatever work and accommodation is available, while Barack Obama's UN forces work hard as international "traffic cops" and clear the streets of Occupy protesters who have nowhere to live and nothing to eat.

Stephen Downs:

Regarding your comment:

"The Labor scheme of paying compensation to trade exposed industries 1. is a sure fire way of causing corruption. 2. Defeats the whole purpose of taxing carbon."

The main purpose of Carbon Taxation will not be defeated at all, although I do take your point.

The main aim is to redistribute populations and wealth across the world according to the Green's global plan.

Taxing the air we breath is based on a myth.

We can institute a moderate environmental policy without taking our own nation to the cleaners and handing the proceeds to the third world.

Making all of our own manufactured goods and consuming our own food instead of importing copious quantities of other people's comparative rubbish will automatically reduce the amount of pollution caused by transporting raw materials and value added products back and forth.

I think the government's secondary agenda is to unload all of the pollution on the third world in order to maintain their own pristine environment. Certainly where I live, Greens voters (semi-rural dwellers) have certainly succeeded in unloading their filth, vehicular traffic and car parking fiascoes on the urban working class.

Once again we are being deceived by our current govt..Their Dept. of Misinformation must be working overtime.
Wake up Austrralians, the deceite is remaniscent of Nazi propagander and Communst doublespeak, tell an untruth big enough and repeat it again and again the apathetic majority will accept yhe misinformation eventually.
So Australians "WAKE UP" do your own thinking andrtesearch, then make a well advised desicion, do not be persuaded by those wishing to dominate and control you.

Peter Slipper and that other follow have made a mockery of the ALP. Slipper is a sleaze bag. Was given the highest office in the Australian Government and had no respect for it. And that other sleaze Bag Craig Thomson What are they doing there. These two man need to be accountable for the actions. where there is smoke. there is fire. Both these men need to go to jail for what they have done. And the only words I have for our Prime Minister is. We need an election NOW. I don't like the ALP or there Policies. Bring on the ELECTION NOW.

Please help us stop this madness!
We need an election!
We need tony as our Primeminister!
We need the redhead OUT!
I honestly don't know how much more damage we can sustain! All she is interested in is power, not we the people of Australia.

Hi Barnaby, how can we normal people help you? may be you put out petitions that we can sign, you are on the right track, how can 2 sleazebags still be sitting in Parliament? Answer: because of morally bankrupt Gillard. What role model is this government to the young or the people of this country, particularly since less than half of the population voted for her and she acted like a prostitute with the independents and would have sold her grandmother if needed to.
