The Guide to the Murray Darling Basin plan is concerning many people in the Basin. Communities are facing an uncertain time for the next 15 months while the experts thrash out just what the reductions to water allocations may be.
I urge all residents, business and community leaders to attend the community information meetings in the Southern Border Rivers Region over the next two days.
We need to send a clear message to the Labor government that the people of the basin need to be heard, their futures’ need to be considered and that their many decades of experience at the coal face can be drawn on to provide a win-win solution for the basin and the communities that rely on it.
I will be attending the meeting in Goondiwindi on Friday afternoon and I look forward to a constructive meeting that will highlight the needs and possible solutions to the water debate.
Meetings will be held by the Authority in:
St George- Thursday 21st October from 2 - 5 pm at the RSL 108 Alfred street, St George
